To capture the monster you have to toss it into your base square that you start every battle from. Every time you capture a monster this way, you can double the level you can capture safely (i.e., 40, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280, 2560, 5000, then 9999). what you do is, if your ppl are at lvl 25 then capture a lvl 10 to be safe then go higher as you get higher the ones you catch leave them in the basepanel to capture the higher lvl ones it should work for everyone trust me, it takes time
@Frost21JA I've done this a lot of times trust me, just dont rush it. take a lvl 10 first then a level a 20 then to be safe take 30 instead of 40 if your have to much trouble. oh and if you want to pass bills or anything else and the enemies are too strong find the people that voted for you and throw them on the weaker enemies but make she whoever your throwing them on are weaker then them in level this trick works in all the Disgaea games :)
You can only capture a monster that has twice your maximum lvl or lower. I got a lvl 4000 and beat Laharl using it. There useful but it does kinda ruin the fun of the game. But only a little :3

Well do you have Cursed Memories or Dark Hero Days? I have Cursed Memories for the PS2 and that tactic works just fine for me. My Adell was only lvl 116.
@TheOverlord55 The monster should be lower in level or equal with Adell or Axel in order to be captured in Dark Hero Days. We can't take advantage of the Neko trick in psp but we have magichange instead. I read it somewhere...
@janmac86 yes its true but i dont know if you got into the game so much...after beating pringer x go and unsealing the land of carnage you cant capture high level uber lord monsters anymore no matter how many tough units you have in the base panel...

I just maximized my Exorcist's store level and perfected a level 200 Yosh with one 19998 Gladiators in less than 80 hours from beginning of the game and my patience just got depleted. I spent so much time fooling around in the item world that I lost my interest in catching uber mons. 'Guess I'm not as patient as other gamers...
@RaiceaAndrei111 Can you imagine farming 8 x 19998 Gladiators for one max levelled Yoshistuna? Given it is easy to find belts with 300 unsubdued Gladiators with the help of 100 Teachers, it's still tiresome job.

Capture a lvl 300 monster or a lower level one. Then capture a monster thats level 600, twice as strong as the level 300, and so on and you'll eventually have an entire high leveled army.

so no matter what level the monster is as long as you have one character in the base panel that monster will die as long as it isnt any higher then 2x the strongest character in the base panel?
@Fraust100 catching a monster does not work all the time. alot of the times the monster has the chance to break out, destroying your base and giving him only 1 hp left
If you're playing PSP Dark Hero Days, you CANNOT capture a monster that is of greater level than Adell, so it doesn't work anymore to get the L9999 Nekomata.
@AnarchTheHedgehog They couldn't have taken it out of the PSP version. The requirement for unlocking the beast tamer class is to capture a monster. You can still capture them.
@KimonCrack- it's called a felony. You get it by commiting a crime in the game, idk but you can talk to the red Mage in holt town and he will explain.
@c8shaman matters on what class it is, (example) if you try to capture a level 200 nekomata, class four, and you only have class 3, you cannot capture what you cannot have yet, you will have to go through that class 4 then try to capture it, make sense?
@KimOnCrack prob your talking about the felonies, they are good so don't worry, but if you get a LOT then you get a "bad" ending. but I think it takes 100 felonies.
@zex95966 nope if you get 10 felonys on adel then you get the bad ending :v and if rozalin died in a battle (besides the laharl battle) then you get the bad ending for sure :v
@KimOnCrack no you level up by 10% so if u where level 100 u would gain 10 levels then the turn after u would be level 110 and u would gain 10% of that which is 11 so then u would be 121 and so on
You can use this trick to level your OTHER characters up, since the rule of experience is "The Stronger the Opponent, the more EXP they drop when you stomp 'em flat!"
when i do this I usually fusion all the nekos into one, so it tuns it really faster, but take care to not fusion all the guys on the field, because if its does happen a dark world stage will appear.

@dongerado I cant seem to capture the neko's ive heard of it being able to be caught at 2.5 or 3 times my highest char. my highest is a lvl 173, followed by 159, 148, 146,145, 136, 122, 121, etc... but just failed to catch a lvl 196 neko, any reason why i'm having trouble?

k i tryed this 3 times i try to capture a nekomata but it destroy base a lot come on 3 1ks and 2 3ks die to it in base panel when i watch videos bam i see level 100 catch it
I figured this out half on my own after reading that you can capture 2x your strongest character in the base. I have to say though the lv 9999's that you get are very underdeveloped in their stats. It's a very good idea if you are getting annoyed and want to get all of the special things in the game without putting in too much time, but you really only need one for the final Cave of Ordeals stage and maybe Zetta. You can use them in tower attacks to lv up characters.
I used a lv 4012 nekomata to capture the 9999 one that i have and no they don't have to be just nekomatas any monster double the lv of your strongest character in your base or lower is capturable. I've tested this dude and why are you calling them cat turtles it's nekomata tama is turtle.
That is a cool deal...will only have to 4 years or so for the PS3 version :)
I don't buy consoles new anymore as the quality is dreadful at best and I love emulation as it keeps my consoles + games in good condition plus its all cheaper (bought my PS2 for $30 and games for $1-$10)
Geez to all the people this is how it works (works on ps2) Have a characters at least half the level u want to capture monter's level try until it works. of course this isnt gonna work with low lv
unlock the cave of ordeal and use its first stage to have some levels the thats the first step i took into leveling up...currently my adell is on lvl 910
with very high stats and can kill laharl in 3 rounds!
and more thing in cave of ordeal 1 you have to destroy first the geo panels and kill the archers one by one,they're only lv 70s and a veeeeeeery low defense i think their defs are at 200 or something. its up to you whether you follow my advice.

Let's say you have a level 75 unit. make sure that unit is inside your base panel, now don't try to capture a level 150 neko, insteead try to capture a slightly less then double your level monster. I'd say it's a lot easier to capture monsters that are slightly less then double your highest level unit.
Yes, I'm sure this works, but don't go double, instead go 190% your highest level unit. This is slightly less than double your level but much easier to pull off.
um i don't think it's working out i try capturing a lvl 94 but it won't let me for some reason i think i can only get a lvl monster that is low lvl then me the Highest lvl in my base is Adell lvl 87
they gro 10%, so at lvl 10, next turn is 11, but after like 20 turns it goes faster. if its lvl 500, next turn is 550, next is 605, and so on, at 1000, next is 1100. it takes like 10 mins tops to make them lvl 9999
Ok this is for the people who are a little clueless. im trying to do this myself i have a level 180 adell so instead of going for a level 360 im going to play it safe and go for a level 300, the easiest way to do this is like the vid shows have one person block th ebridge this is so the neko wastes its sp then throw it down the line and it hasnt been took out of the psp manuelito1233 because thats what im playing it on.
Then something must be wrong with either your psp or your game. The nekomata trick was removed from both the JAP and USA versions of Disgaea 2 for PSP. The only way to capture a monster in D2 for the PSP is for the monster to be weaker than your main character (Adell or Axel). So, no, you can't do this anymore on the PSP, unfortunately.
Sorry if I'm spoiling the game, but at some point in the storyline (in Laharl's fight, to be precise) Rozalin will become level 2500. I haven't tried, but maybe you can steal some of Laharl's equip when playing as her. I don't know, though.

I have a lvl 290 healer (highest in my base panel) and for some reason I can never capture 1 even a few levels higher.

when the nekos is double or triple ure highest warior trow it to the panel with ure lowest level caracter. so it can be basically taimed by the highest level wariors inside the panel. once u do that u will be able to get a level 1200 nekos and after that a level 2400 and so on hace 1 s

I dont think it has to do with your level... Cuz i have 9999 neko and my highest chr is lvl 72. and i think i captured it when i was around 20ish...

I figured this out half on my own after reading that you can capture 2x your strongest character in the base. I have to say though the lv 9999's that you get are very underdeveloped in their stats. It's a very good idea if you are getting annoyed and want to get all of the special things in the game without putting in too much time, but you really only need one for the final Cave of Ordeals stage and maybe Zetta. You can use them in tower attacks to lv up characters.

I used a lv 4012 nekomata to capture the 9999 one that i have and no they don't have to be just nekomatas any monster double the lv of your strongest character in your base or lower is capturable. I've tested this dude and why are you calling them cat turtles it's nekomata tama is turtle.

I don't buy consoles new anymore as the quality is dreadful at best and I love emulation as it keeps my consoles + games in good condition plus its all cheaper (bought my PS2 for $30 and games for $1-$10)

i have one tip keep leveling up and one thing
unlock the cave of ordeal and use its first stage to have some levels the thats the first step i took into leveling up...currently my adell is on lvl 910
with very high stats and can kill laharl in 3 rounds!
and more thing in cave of ordeal 1 you have to destroy first the geo panels and kill the archers one by one,they're only lv 70s and a veeeeeeery low defense i think their defs are at 200 or something. its up to you whether you follow my advice.

Nope, doesn't work on PSP anymore, the capture system works like...
Enemy has to be lower level than Adell or the strongest person in your base panel for you to be able to capture them.

Let's say you have a level 75 unit. make sure that unit is inside your base panel, now don't try to capture a level 150 neko, insteead try to capture a slightly less then double your level monster. I'd say it's a lot easier to capture monsters that are slightly less then double your highest level unit.

Yes, I'm sure this works, but don't go double, instead go 190% your highest level unit. This is slightly less than double your level but much easier to pull off.

Make sure you can create the monster first in the Dark Assembly. Also make sure you can create the tier of the monster you are trying to capture.

they gro 10%, so at lvl 10, next turn is 11, but after like 20 turns it goes faster. if its lvl 500, next turn is 550, next is 605, and so on, at 1000, next is 1100. it takes like 10 mins tops to make them lvl 9999

Ok this is for the people who are a little clueless. im trying to do this myself i have a level 180 adell so instead of going for a level 360 im going to play it safe and go for a level 300, the easiest way to do this is like the vid shows have one person block th ebridge this is so the neko wastes its sp then throw it down the line and it hasnt been took out of the psp manuelito1233 because thats what im playing it on.

Then something must be wrong with either your psp or your game. The nekomata trick was removed from both the JAP and USA versions of Disgaea 2 for PSP. The only way to capture a monster in D2 for the PSP is for the monster to be weaker than your main character (Adell or Axel). So, no, you can't do this anymore on the PSP, unfortunately.

Sorry if I'm spoiling the game, but at some point in the storyline (in Laharl's fight, to be precise) Rozalin will become level 2500. I haven't tried, but maybe you can steal some of Laharl's equip when playing as her. I don't know, though.
