there's no way to change the css on a server where you don't have access to off course. it would be a very usefull feature to let firebug save the css locally after the edits though! lots of people use it for local designing and developing too.

i guess i have to look into this eclipse IDE then :°(

Because if you are diagnosing a CSS layout problem, you may not know exactly what is wrong. This allows you to quickly figure out what is wrong so that you can change it all at once.

can anyone tell me if firebug has a way of highlighting bugs or errors in your code. I've been looking through the code on my website and I'm pretty sure it has bugs but it looks fine in firebug. I even tried typing in some codes incorrectly on purpose and it didn't treat them any differently, in the style sheet it just hides them.

I guess this is the problem when fixing bugs on the best browser, cos firefox can present the worst code and make it look good then you open on explorer and... yuck.

You can't just "save" the edited css. If you could, you'd be able to edit any site's css. You just use Firebug to see what the changes would look like IF you made them. You have to manually edit your css file using whatever tool you like best.
