I think these scene is so fresh and beguiling. Don't forget this is a "melodramma buffo" and buffo means merry but also ridiculous. They're not imitating robots but puppets, typical in Italian popular plays above all in Donizetti's times. It's a bright recall to the tradition that nowadays only few people can catch. ALAS!

Its a silly song written by dulcamara. Plus its her "wedding day" To Belcore, even though she is truly upset (since she loves Nemorino) She acts happy to make nemorino envious However he isnt at the party. Anyway, the point to her jumping is she is:

1) Acting Giddy because of marying belcore.

2) singing a silly song about a young woman who rows a gondola and an old man hitting on her. The song is very silly, so she hops. Why else would the director have them do the robot (which is not period)?
