@AJTh2k9 I am actually right handed. That is why I do all my one handed cut left handed. When you are right handed you generally hold the cards in your left hand for dealing or for magic, to leave your right hand open for whatever. So you want to be able to do your flourishes in your left instead of having an awkward pause to switch to right hand, the switch back to deal.
@ultimatevids , cut the deck and pivot as far as you can, using the rotation of the thumb around the index finger. When you can't go any further try extending your pinkie as far as you can to kind of rotate the bottom packet in the opposite direction and out of the way. Hope that helps.
@razmadaz123 This is really the cut that started it all for me. I saw this cut on a TV show in 1992 and was pretty impressed and started to get into cards. I learned the Charlier first but didn't learn anything after that for a long time. Then I went back and found the tv episode I found and figured this out and then it just got really addictive.
If the bottom half is falling on your palm, then your not keeping the pressure between the index finger and the Middle finger. The index just acts as a pivot, you have to keep the contstant pressure.
small hands make everything harder. You just have to practice more than ppl with average hands. Also you have to pay close attention to everthing to make sure the cards move the right ways.
I'm actually right handed. I seem to be alone in this philosophy, but if you deal with your right hand you should hold the cards in your left, and that is where you should be able to do all your one handed cuts.
i swap hands actually. almost everything i do with cards is left handed. i hold the deck in my right hand when dealing. but when it comes to the thumb cut i use my right hand. cant seem to do it with my left
argh, its hard enough to try to do the cut let alone invert left and rights lol...the olden day people were right, lefties are evil and it should be beaten out of them :P:P
uuh can you make a tutorial for the right handed version so the left-handies or people that have trouble doing it with the left can try the right? thx.
I could send you the video, and you could use mirror the image in your video editing software, but I haven't made a video in a little while, and my next videos will probably be performance not tutorials.
no, I am right handed. A right handed person holds the deck in thier left hand to deal the cards. Therefore you should be able to do all your one handed cuts in your left hand and return to dealing position.
Doesn't hurt to be able to do it in your right hand also.
start on the Charlier cut. Just attempt to do it 100 times in a row. It sounds like a lot but really it will only take you 10-20 minutes. Your fingers need the repetition in order to learn something
Daryl's hot shot is a little different. This is the knuckle cut. You can perform a 'shot' out of it, but Daryl's Hot Shot is much for that. Check Jerry's EPoPCF for clarification.
thx

Does this cut have anything to do with hand size, cuz I have small hands. or is it just technique that I need?

not really, this is actually a move you can do with smaller hands, becuase you are working with the width of the deck and not the length.
