It's rather humorous. He starts filming. The speaker at the event speaks up that he doesn't want to be filmed. The filmmaker respects that, gets up and begins to depart. The young people cant seem to control themselves and follow after the camera person for no other reason than to have themselves filmed harassing the exiting patron.
If campus security showed up they would have to follow campus rules. Film on...
@joonmarie89 Once again, I am long over all this. Some people have a hard time letting this one go. I take it as a great compliment that so many people take offense to one guy with a camera.
"in this case, the lecture was in Smith Memorial Student Union—their privacy is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. In other words, in order to capture a student on film, he would need to first get their consent.
In the video, the man mistakenly identified SMSU as a public place.
"Public spaces include the street and the park blocks; PSU buildings are not considered public," Gallagher said
Whats your response to that? And why do you keep all my comments from being posted
@madeinpalestine07 The people at PSU have straight up lied about laws before to try to protect themselves. Also, notice that Gallagher never says the words "illegal" or "legal" in the article. I'm quite certain that had I done something illegal or something worth suing over that I would have been contacted by law enforcement or lawyers by now. And I'm not keeping your comments from being posted, otherwise I wouldn't be able to respond to your last 2 comments.
@madeinpalestine07 Furthermore, If PSU wants to give back the $80,000,000 in taxpayer money they received this year, then they can call themselves private and I won't set foot on campus for the rest of the year.
Oh, and I also wonder why all your comments are pending for approval. Are YOU hiding something Mr. "Journalist"? Perhaps you want to filter many of the comments people post on your wall for fear that most people disagree with what you did.
@madeinpalestine07 You'll see that I've approved just about every comment posted on here. Especially the ones where people have prejudices about me and make threatening statements! Keep it classy!
A) "Laughing" clearly does not understand the law, he does not have the right to film at PSU without permission, B) Where is HIS face? LaughingatTeabaggers
Events at PSU are not public even if they are open to the public. I don't know if LaughingAtLiberls is the new Thought Police or just a typical conservative asshole.
@elifbathaje I really don't know how to make it any more clear than "PUBLIC EVENT". If the imom didn't want to be seen in public, then perhaps he shouldn't speak at public events. Just like if someone is giving a speech in a public park, they have no say as to who can or can't film them. They are in public, so they are subject to being recorded. Secondly, you would actually condone using violence? I find this odd, considering your YouTube page preaches peace.
@LaughingAtLiberals I find it funny how you get upset when someone uses words like "I would attack him" toward you, and you become the victim "Oh you want to use violence???" Yet you say nothing about the biased and prejudice comments that people write about "dirty traitor terrorist" Muslims. ... very interesting.
@krum369 That's classy! Call me names, insult me, and make prejudices about what I was there for. How much calmer could I have been? They asked me to leave, so I left.
the journalist is weird and he is evil, to be honest if i was there i would defo call the police and will defo take him to court and will not let him get away
i my self see his act as a evil act.
actually there is an article regarding this matter "filming people without permission or their consent" and this supposedly journalist would defo be jailed for this act.
@TheJaafri What have I done that is "evil"? If what I did broke laws, then why am I not in jail? Call the police right now. I dare ya. Ya know how to find me. If the MSA or the Imam had a case, I'm sure something would have happened by now.
At the Tea Party rally the other day there were dozens of cameras rolling the whole time. No one cared or told anyone to shut down. We have nothing to hide.
Thank you guys for these kinds of comments. It just makes ya'll look more like jackasses!
@LaughingAtLiberals well what you have done was clearly evil and heck yh i wasn't there ... you dare me haha make me laugh .... anyway my advise is move on and live your life instead of trying to prove something that you already gonna be a loser ...... pointless ......ppl arn't that stupid.
@TheJaafri I have pretty much moved on, but folks like yourself continue to harass me on here. So it looks to me like islam types are the ones having a hard time moving on. You still fail to qualify how this is "evil". Might I also suggest some classes in proper punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.
Do you have a life?... do you usually go around making a seen, and im a law student law states "if the private property belongs or rented to someone other than a commercial business, you had better get the property owner's permission or Photographing or videotaping a person without their knowledge or consent may subject you to a lawsuit for invasion of privacy." YOU retarded idiot, if i was there i would sued your ass. just be lucky they were all nice about it, YOU IDIOT
@LearnToReadTheKuran Where do you get the prejudice regarding my skin color? And please tell me, what would have happened had I crossed your path? More peace from Islam?
The individual filming was clearly trying to create problems... Nobody was harrassing the "Journalist". If he was so according to the law why did he decide to leave as soon as security was about to be called. HE (the "journalist") IS THE ONE WHO HAD SOMETHING TO HIDE!!!
@suhaib88italy I left because I didn't want to create a ruckus. No need to call security, I'm sure there are more important things for them to worry about. I am still wondering how sitting there peacefully and quietly is seen as "trying to create problems".
@suhaib88italy Wouldn't you leave if some dumb fat security guard who doesn't know the law comes to that place, drags you accross the hall, and beats you up halfway? Plus, the people in that room could've chimped out on the journalist.
YOU just DON' T QUIT do you? It is OBVIOUS that you have nothing BETTER to do than to cause PROBLEMS. If your LOVE LIFE is THAT PATHETIC, I suggest you find a different outlet for dealing with your sexual fustrations.
The "journalist" creates a false anaolgy when he implies that the speaking event is the same thing as filming Kobe Bryant at a basketball game. First, Kobe Bryant has probably all ready signed a waver stating that he agrees that HIS image can be broadcasted and filmed. In this instance, "the journalist" was wrong. He asked for permission and was denied because he did not state clearly why and for whom he was filming. Judging by this "journalist's" vidoes, the Imam was correct in refusing him.
@jsaadeh22 My good friend, you need to study up on the laws. If someone is appearing in public, at a public place, giving a public presentation, after inviting the public, then there is reasonable expectation that they could filmed. For example (and as I was about to explain in the video before they continued to interrupt me), if there's a news crew giving a report on the street, or getting some stock footage of people walking around in a city, they do not need permission from those people.
@cmm1411 This is a public event, but it was NOT taking place in a public space, BIG different there. Public space open for the public: park, side walk, street, etc. Non-public space but open for the public: universities, schools, restaurants, etc. Just like you CANNOT film people at a restaurant, you can't do it at a university. Get your facts right before you start barking. These students are protected by FERPA when they're inside a PSU building. Ignorant stupid fucks like you make me laugh.
@Viezzle I actually DID read up on FERPA, and nowhere in there does it say anything about videoing an extra curricular activity. Perhaps you'd like to cite the section of FERPA that pertains that?
