@SilverSurfer102 It doesn't have to have its 5 liter, im just tired of not seeing a strong american presence in the motorsports world. Outside of corvette racing in ALMS.
@DZoneMotorsportTV I dont know why you think that because obviously if you remove most of the essential street legal comfort items; rear seats dashboard insulation floor covers etc. And replace the remaining parts with carbon fibre and titanium it will sure fit the category limits. The boss 302 weighs around 3600lbs, the rs wrc fiesta weighs around 2600lbs. And if it still doesn't fit then you can modify the body to make it smaller.
@Inklebonker1- Most of that weight reduction would probably bring the the Mustang down to about 2900lbs which is good, but not light enough. I honestly think that the Mustang would be more suited on the circuit but the majority of cars being used in the racing world today are hatchbacks and it seems that these days, hatchbacks are more suited for racing than sedans.
@DZoneMotorsportTV Which is why i said make the car smaller. Reduce the wheelbase, chop the trunk, anything. I would just like to see a true american car in WRC if not the mustang then the chevy sonic.
@Inklebonker1 - If they chopped the trunk, then people would complain that it looks nothing like the production model and WRC rules say that the production chassis must be used.
@DZoneMotorsportTV Empty the trunk, remove the hinges that allow it to swing and weld it shut. If the whole car has been constructed (legally according to wrc regulation) from ultralight materials like carbon fibre, aluminum and titanium, and then deleting all components south of the driver and passenger seat; rear seats, ac, etc. then having the motor size reduced to a 2 liter turbo flat4 with an aluminum block it will be considerably lighter.
FORD FOR ALL!!

i think everyone will agree with me when i say following:
there is nothing new in citroen winning wrc
lancia once retired completely from wrc, because there was nothing new in lancia winning.
citroen should do the same. may ford put an end to their rain of tyranny and kick loeb back to alsace

ford, why don't we get a real american car into wrc. mustang maybe? chop off the back end make the front shorter and give it rally spec performance.
Inklebonker1 2 months ago
@Inklebonker1 I agree it would be cool but its impossible due to the 1.6 liter turbo engines regulation.

@Inklebonker1 - A heavy Mustang competing in the WRC would just lose to other cars all the time.
DZoneMotorsportTV 2 months ago
@DZoneMotorsportTV obviously you would need make it light just like every other race car.
Inklebonker1 2 months ago
@Inklebonker1 - And even then, it still wouldn't fit into the legal weight.

He left Ford to join Citroen... His logic is if you can't beat 'em, join 'em
KoMDraegast 2 months ago
@KoMDraegast
Not exactly! His contract was not extended and so he had to change the team.
But great Ford! Keep up the good work! Petter or Jar-Matti will win the championship 2012 for sure!=)
