WOW is a simple game populated with not always nice teens.

EQ2 is more beautiful and populated with smarter people.

If you like ugly, rushing and simple go for WOW.

If you are aiming for beauty and a bit more of complication, aim for EQ2.

@KevinEdwardMiah Well, i would suggest Everquest 2, World of Warcraft is not particularly an MMORPG, its more like...yeah, what is it? ^^ Well everyone runs around and looks like the most high equipt people. So every player looks the same, thats not very nice. Plus Blizzard changes World of Warcraft so damn often, that the class you played at first, is totally different to the result you are playing now with. Just read some reviews about both games. I recommend EQ II

Yeah everquest 1 just had it's ten year anniversary that's just a little bit before WoW's time, and I believe eq2 came out before WoW also... but play what you want to play. Enjoy life I know plenty of people who play both.

Can you even really compare WoW and EQ2 ? Sure they are both MMO's but they appeal to two totally different types of people. EQ2 is more oriented toward adults and obviously people who played EQ, whereas WoW appeals to a younger audience. EQ2 graphics and game play are more detailed and task oriented whereas WoW is more cartoonish graphics and not as challenging. Both games are good in their own respect, but I think they are more like apples and oranges than anything else.

Left WoW for EQ2 and haven't looked back. I tried EQ2 when it came out and wasn't impressed, but that was before I got a decent computer. Not only does EQ2 look better, the gameplay is far more interesting and when I'm in a group I don't just spam one or two buttons constantly.

I've also found that you find more mature, intelligent and articulate people on Everquest 2 then I ever did in WoW. Sure, lot's of smart and cool people play WoW, but their drowned out by all the morons and kiddies.

All of the armor is not the same. I play a level 80SK, there is grey armor,blue armor, yellow, green armor, black armor,red armor, even pink armor, and the best part is at level 20 you get an apperance inventory so you can change your look without affecting your stats. There are also different looking helms that you can get if you quest for them.

ok here is my view on the EQ2 vs WoW debate... these 2 games are both really good and the thing about it is is that whatever WoW doesnt have for one person, EQ2 has and vise versa. also i think that EQ2 probably has more hardcore PvP at the lower levels, which is either a good thing or a bad thing if u like spending time twinking then good for u... also EQ2's crafting kicks WoW's ass and WoW's ease of play pwns EQ2 so there (i havent really experience PvE in EQ2 though, im more of a pvper)

As bieng one who has played pretty much every mmorpg... including current beta for warhammer online. WOW is a great game but somewhat limited in uniquness. EQ2 is a personal favorite but that is because i love the mechanics and crafting system. But both games are good games worth playing its just a matter of certain differences that make or break a game for a person. I was not all that in to Age of Conan. And Warhammer Online is almost identical to WOWs systems. They used the same engines.

I play world of warcraft and like it to hell... mostly for the pvp part... but EQ and EQ2 pwns WoW in everything related to PVE. Consider that wow has copied everything from other games, including the bgs. Instances = EverQuest... Socketed items = Everquest.... Flying mounts = Vanguard (they were the first to talk about it). The raid events are copies of group and raid encounters from everquest. The only credit I can give blizzard is for improving it copied and for being less conservative.

VSOH have been talking about flying mount since 2001, so indeed when WoW started to talk about flying mount the people who were following vanguard said: omg they are going to copy this too. Blizzard recognizes so much EQ and other games that the first thing they did was to invite all the top guilds of those games to their alpha sending to each member a copy. And second more recently by hiring a people mainly from EQ. Before talking be sure you know of what u talking about.

mm nice... just watching EQ2 trailer for RoK gave me CHILLS... that game pwns so much =) ... I can say for sure that WoW was released AFTER EQ2. Although, Blizzard did have Warcraft out before then. I will give them that. But Sony had EQ1 out in the year of 99 which made their profits greatly. RS however, is a crappy 2D game, from what I have seen and gathered. But it remains to this day that EQ1 WAS the first, and well-known, game release. But thanks for the vid.

Actually WOW did not copy EQ2, it copied EQ1, and thank god for that. EQ2 changed a great deal of the groundwork that made EQ1 such a great game, moving away from small racially distinct cities spaced all across the world for only 2 faction cities, making the entire game including the open world instanced, mousing over a door that can be opened creating light on that door which then opens instantly instead of swinging open, unlike eq you just clicked and it opened.

The locking of combat, to the point of not even being able to heal people who are engaged in combat if they are not in your group. The ultrafast speed of mobs towards you when you pull them as a fix to kiting that instead just made the whole feel of the game less realistic then EQ1 or WOW. EQ2 devs tried to "fix" things that were not broken and instead made the game world feel real, and they destroyed the sequel. WOW copied EQ1 to a large degree and is more the real EQ2 then EQ2 itself ended up.

I stopped playing EQ2 for a number of reasons. One was the cost (tired of paying) but others included, constantly changing the game play. First it was debt penalty for dying (I used this on PVP servers so I could harvast in high level zones as a sub-adv10 toon and level up my tradeskills - i had 9 toons, one for each tradeskill) once they did that it pretty much well ruined the game but then with RoK they removed level locking in PVP which pretty much well ruins the game no exception.
