  • @TheEclipsenow Rightly Said , Apart from Peak Oil , there is another issue - Peak Oil. And by the way - We had done research on only 3 percent of the microalge present , with 60 percent of the dry mass represent Biofuel.

From Mauritius , High School Student.

  • @shazzbot007 You want to see change? Fine. Just wait a few years. The American Joint Forces command predicts that global peak oil is about now and by 2015 the world will be down 10million barrels a day or 1/9th of supply (We currently use about 86 mbd). With India and China coming online, we'll need an extra million barrels a day each year from now. That's a new Saudi Arabia EVERY decade, and that doesn't even offset the 15 of the top 30 oil nations that have already peaked.

  • I didn't think algae was ready to go yet, problems with water use, contamination by other algae, energy required to pump nutrients, nutrients, and the sheer cost of it all. I listen to a variety of cutting edge science podcasts and agree that we've got to get off fossil fuels and peak oil and global warming are all very real threats. But just because we want something to be true doesn't make it so. Instead, we may have to do with less. Check out this New Urbanism video!

  • EXCELLENT!!!!! EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS B/C THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA WILL NOT SHOW THESE KINDS OF THINGS. the world is in so much better shape that we know, in that alternatives to our continuous assault on our precious earth already exist! it's just a matter of putting them into place when the big boys fall.

  • @shazzbot007 it is hardwired because people in power make money and maintain power on top of the oil market/industries etc. It´s a fact that the usage of oil produces pollution, but it is also true that many people adopt the eco-liberation freedom fighter attitude, and tend to over-demonize the whole oil industry. But, there are better energy sources available, so it´s just rational that we keep moving forward with the transition.

  • I am trying to find a download link to this documentary, I am actually watching it on tv right now, but it´s about to be over. But this is the kind of movie that should be freely available on the internet.

  • poor guy who gave massage 2 d president in last, dsnt know that each single word of msg is delivered 2 him is processing by las vegas casino holders.

  • live 4 money and die 4 antichrist jew riches can burn the whole universe 4 their own good.

  • Reminds me of the Collapse documentary.

  • there is no oil shortage people.there is no global warming.10 years ago they were saying our average low in the summer by now would be like 101.well looky here, here we are all this time later and weather patterns are pretty much still the same. if the government was really so concerned about global warming don't you think they'd try harder to do something about it instead of just letting the planet go to shit? think about it,i mean come on.

  • Why so many Moby songs in one trailer?

  • need to find this movie.anyone knows a torrent or another way to view this?

  • and why the fuck would you watch this crap?

  • want to save the planet?

    kill yourself

  • @grussom want do something useful for society

    kill yourself

  • ALL fossil fuels MUST be eliminated...unless you're a fan of cancer and world destruction through global warming.

Let's take a step forward to clean energy...THIS is called progress.

  • Oil isn't the problem - it's automobiles.

  • automobiles aren't the problem, its humanity's laziness and greed.

  • A lot more people are going to have to live a lot closer to where they work everyday to solve this problem. And a lot more products that people consume everyday are going to have to produce closer to where they are consumed. My suggestion for a solution: every month increase the tax on every gallon of fossil fuel sold by 10 cents and use the extra tax revenue to pay off the national debt.

  • @GableWatts

Yea, great idea... Not to mention absolutely impossible and doing so would send America to revolt against the federal government. Total anarchy over energy consumption. Not a great idea.

  • I gave up having a car twenty years ago and haven't wanted one since. I love my bicycle. And I moved a few months ago so I was within walking distance to my work. If I change jobs in the future I'll do that again.

  • far more people in 3rd world country wound die if there was no oil.

  • Liberal propaganda to justify massive bureaucracy that cost alote and produce little.

    like FEMA

  • The Best MOVIE EVER!!!!!! Real event and a fight for life, love... ! The truth about 9/11 and more!!! SAVE THE PLANET !!!!!!

  • if we just send up a giant solar panel into space and beam back the energy to the ground...we would be able to create enormous amounts of electricity....or we could put miniature windmills on top of every building or skyscraper....theres so many options, and its time to pick one already!

  • I personally don't think we need a "winner". Just alternatives. A service station with hydrogen, BD100, 50, whatever, electrical.

Also, watch out for those "alternative fuel vehicles" like city buses. They have a whopping 2% of biodiesel mixed in with standard diesel. Wow, what an epic change huh?

  • I love how they keep telling people to change. Ok, how? Sell us these products and we will use them. I worked in Biodiesel and it's not the home run they make it out to be. We would run outta restaurant oil in a year (Algae is a theory) and their is already to much Glycerol bi-product. They are giving it away now cuz their is so much of it. Biodiesel also has a cloud point of..Umm I think 28 degrees, so that cancels out most cold weather places.

  • excelente pero me gustaria verlo en español ya que todos deben tener y conocer esta informacion cada uno en su ideoma gracias venezuela

  • wow, this movie reinds me of Zeitgeist...

    I really wanna see it...

and whats the name of the first and last song

  • The artist who made the songs is named Moby. He's brilliant! The two songs are from two different albums.

  • Looks like it might be good, but I'm really annoyed with people continually saying that the Iraq war was about oil. It wasn't. And you'll know that by looking into exactly how much oil we've gotten from Iraq since the invasion: not very much at all. The Iraqi people control the oil, not the U.S. Let's not forget the real reason we went into Iraq, and stop using it as a talking point for anti-oil viewpoints. But don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting off fossil oil.

  • PLEASEEE!!!! the name of first song!!!!

  • what s the name of first song?

  • lol i clicked this thinking it was that new game and was thinking what the hell this is a weird trailer for a game lol

  • I can hardly wait til this comes out on DVD!

  • When are we going to see Fuel in Australia?

  • whats the song at 1 min 30 sec

  • i believe it's "Extreme Ways" by Moby- it was in the bourne movies (probably why it sounds familiar).

The earlier song (when he was talking about his mom) is another Moby song, called (aptly) "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad."

Both can be found on iTunes

  • the song is of MOBY but I don t remeber the name..

  • Could it be that we have too many people on this planet?

  • It could be that we have too many people, but we live so inefficiently that there is no way to know.

We have barely begun to think about how to live sustainably, and a large-scale experiment would be necessary to test any of the available hypotheses.

  • I think that the critical factor about population management is whether increased wealth will drive a population increase.

History shows that it is POVERTY which drives runaway population NOT wealth. Starvation is not the only limit on the Human population! If we distribute the wealth we have more equitably and provide access to education, people WILL voluntarily moderate the population without any coercive measures or paranoid propaganda campaigns.

  • This movie is about Biodiesel, not corn ethanol. so all you people posting stupid comments, please think before you act. And yes, Biodiesel could easily be cheap and plentiful.

  • Tyson Foods is investing heavily in biodiesel as we speak. Interesting.

  • @g3f0rc3p0w3r thank you for correcting the negative people about biodiesel.

  • Why can't you people just start riding a bicycle and stop driving a tank?

  • because bicycles don't move an economy. Trains, trucks, and planes do.

  • its your greed that drives an economy not trains, trucks, or planes.

  • Amen

  • At (0:55) Josh Tickell says that in 1988 his mother Deborah Dupre is "sick", then implies, by juxtapositioning, that the high La. cancer rate has befallen her, all because of "oil processing".

Well apparently, she shows up later in the movie, alive and well. I guess the oil processing in La. wasn't all that bad if she could recover to full health living in the state with the worst cancer rate in the nation.

(a cancer rate, which as I showed in a prior post, was actually due to smoking.)

  • The reference to his mother has no indication about Louisiana the trailer just sets it up that way, in the movie it goes "She's sick, she misses her home in Louisiana."

  • Actually, Deborah (Josh's mom) did get very physically sick. She moved away from the area and got better. There isn't a lot of time in the movie to go into her story, but the implication in the trailer is correct. It also mentions in the movie that she had multiple miscarriages, which is likely due to her growing up in the area.

  • My aunt died last year from cancer in the lungs and throat and she NEVER smoked a day in her life...she just chose to live in Redondo Beach (where she inhailed those nasty fumes every single day which eventually claimed her life). The problem with most people is that they don't want to face the truth... THE ONLY WAY THIS COUNTRY WILL SURVIVE IS IF WE GO GREEN!!! Educate yourself and lets get back to our roots! HEMP 4 VICTORY 4 LIFE!!!

  • So let's go GREEN, right?

How?? Tell us what fuel to use instead of petroleum based. Your suggested fuel has to be a rationale choice that meets all these criteria:

    1) plentiful

    2) cheap

    3) high available energy per unit

Petroleum and Nuclear are the only sources.

Solar panels or windmills are too expensive for the little energy they provide. Turning corn into fuel is highly inefficient and produces virtually no net benefit, and worse, it deprives the poor of good food.

  • The movie basically revolves around the sustainable barrel were our country is now powered by multiple sources of renewable energy, were fuel in terms of our car are now run now on bio diesel grown from algae.

  • Nuclear is the most dangerous source! And you can easily make nuclear bombs with the waste! or..they can blow up by any tiny ridiculous accident or incident! And the waste itself pollutes the environment so much, you cant make it clean until 1 million years (google is your brain in your case!) And oh: you can't put uranium in the tank of your car! And also, there's not enough uranium left in the earth to use.only for 10, 12 more years to come. Who's the idiot now?! LOL

  • yurielvin

Your attempt at deflecting the topic won't work with me. Deflection is a common tactic in debate by people who have no logical, tangible, or measureable way to discredit their opponent's assertion. So they try to change the subject. In effect the person who attempts the deflection has admitted their own defeat.

So how about commenting on my assertions and substantiations about the movie trailer?

Go ahead - prove me wrong.

  • At 0:57 the clown states outright that his mother had cancer "BECAUSE OF" the oil industry.

So, I looked up the incidence of cancer, yes they were higher in LA to the national average. HOWEVER, Dr. Edward Peters of LA said Louisiana's incidence rates for tobacco-related cancers such as lung, oral cavity, kidney, and pancreas are higher than U.S. rates. "MOST CASES of these cancers can be prevented through tobacco cessation," He never once mentioned oil as a culprit.

    Game. Set. Match.

  • wow,

    angry little person u are.

    have you seen the movie?

    i invite you.

  • fallparty,

sorry you are so angry and hostile, i hope you see the movie. i agree nuke energy is a great resource, i may be wrong...

why dont you make a movie about it so that we can learn more about it and support saving the planet together.

biodiesel has 10% or less the pathogens that petrol does.

    and your words are poison.....

yopu are probably very, very alone.

and very angry about something else.

might i suggest gardening as a hobby?

  • Comment removed

  • you made very good points. I found you comments enlightening. I can't say I do agree since I need to do some basic research on my own but you made me open my mind on other things.

  • Easily one of the best documentaries I've ever seen...period. Unlike so many other documentaries, environmental or social, FUEL does not leave you depressed, but rather hopeful, inspired and ready to take on the world!

I would encourage anyone to go see it if they are remotely close to a theater screening it, and if not, try to get a local theater to do some screenings! One of the few movies I will gladly pay to see in the theater!

  • Best to see the film before so harshly attacking it as it's NOTHING like your comments. There are only 5 actors in the film. Here are some of the scientists and engineers ... VINOD KHOSLA, ISSAC BERZIN, KEN CALDEIRA, HARRISON DILLION, RAY HOBBS, DR. DAN KAMMEN, DR. DAVID KITTELSON, ROBERT MCCORMICK, DR. WILLIAM MOOMAW, DR. WILLIAM SHEPPARD, DR. GINA SOLOMON and the list goes on. They interviewed over 300 specialists and about 6 celebrities. C'mon, play nice. Let's green this planet together.

  • why wont cooking oil cut it

  • The problem with cooking oil is the crushingly limited supply. Sure it works and I'm pleased to see people re-using cooking oil instead of wasting it, but it's only a novelty energy source.

Ethanol has almost the same problem, it's derived from virtually the same sources as cooking oil. Ethanol is a feel-good energy source - but it produces only as much energy as takes to produce and distribute it. So there is no net gain.

Nuclear is the way to go.

  • The problem with Nuclear energy is the waste it produces which doesn't go away. Truly Solar is gonna be the future were we develop solar panels that can truly harness the power of the sun right now they can only barley a fraction of it.

  • The OTHER problem with nuclear energy is that there is not very much Uranium on Earth. We are already running out of Uranium AND Petroleum!

Unless we figure out how to capture and store the energy from atomic fusion, Atomic energy is not a viable long-term energy source even if we ignore the fact that we don't know what to do with the "waste"

  • The sun is the ultimate answer. From it, oil was generated by generating the plants which fed the food chain which generated ancient animals which generated oil through their fossils, and from there, energy will continually be transformed and harnessed. In the mean time, we might rely on home-brew fusion for another 200 million years or so, but the sun is the ultimate long-term answer one way or another.

  • you were on Leno. God i hope someone hear you

  • just saw you on Leno, wow, great job

  • it was a really good movie,it was even better when he took q and a

  • I agree! I just saw it tonight and he did a Q and A. Very good film. I'm motivated to do something now!

  • Not seen yet. Tell everyone you know about FUEL ! If you like to share your alternative ideas, network with other, go green, save our planet -

    go to ClubGreen.ning

  • too many celebrities , is it possible to make a documentary without shoveling 10 celebs down our throat ?

  • most of the celebrities are in it only for brief moments, and it totally works

  • the 1st song is why does my heart feel so bad moby

  • What's the name of the song in the very beginning? I like the melody.

  • What is the name of the song ("then it fell apart...fell apart") that's playing at the end of the trailer?

  • Extreme Ways by Moby

  • This film will go down in history as THE film that brought world peace. It's truthful, factual, inspiring and motivating. Make sure your children see this film. Tell everyone you know about FUEL. Movies don't get any better than FUEL!!!

  • Hey pb72nova, this isn't a Hollywood movie. This movie doesn't "hate"oil. It does focus on our dependence on oil. You clearly haven't seen the film to be able to make an intelligent comment. You're coming across like a complete idiot. Best to do your research before you comment next time.

  • yah and the last song i've heard it but i cant remember it.

  • The one that goes, "oh baby...oh baby.."? I've wondered that for some time, have no clue.

  • Moby - Extreme ways

  • Moby - Extreme ways

  • thanks

  • Interesting movie!! Anybody knows what is the name of the song at 1:05 minute??? It is beautiful!!

  • Moby - Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad

  • Thanks!!!

  • oh, how intelligent response...

  • lol ur so stupid, watch the movie maybe ull find a brain. Josh, tha person who creates this movie dosnt use any fosil oil. He makes his fuel by Raps, Alge, corn, ... and this is not a Hollywood Production this is a Small Budget Movie just created by Donations! u should inform urself before write bullshit.

I saw the Movie Yesterday night and its the best Documentation i've ever seen.

  • pb72nova, anyone can get fucked (pussy, that is) when they're driving a super hot Koenigsegg CCX running on racing biodiesel. For that car, it doubles the horsepower while maintaining the mileage pattern. The technology is here. We just need distribution. It just so happens you prefer taking it up the bum from the oil industry.

  • This is an amazing film. The Premiere turned away hundreds and got a 5 minute standing ovation. Lots of celebrities. It's inspiring, informative and powerful. Much stronger than An Inconvenient Truth. Really worth seeing.

  • @pickleneko I'm totally eager to see this movie. An Inconvenient Truth only scares the world out of its wits, instead of telling the public what we should do to prevent issues including our fossil fuel dependency.

  • we need to translate this movie, trailer, and this message into all the languages of earth.

    FIX IT.
