The Islamists hate us for two reasons:
- Because our military has an increasingly visible presence in the middle east and our active support Israel.
- Because our culture is increasingly "contaminating" their kids. With TV/internet/telecommunications, american culture is spreading like wildfire. The Islamist HATE our culture; the sexual permissiveness, use of drugs, MTV, etc.
So...they don't care about our "freedom" per se, but they hate our spreading culture.

Prior to 911, the only place in the middle east that would have been contaminated by depleted uranium is Iraq (from the first gulf war). where was that desire b4 the last 50 or 100 years. the end of coloniasm meant the relearning of thier roots and reasserting thier identity, which also meant religious rigidity. And also the desire for caliphate is not strong among most ordinary muslims. the few real extremist see that as a rallying point, it's just an illusion to boost morale of the rank and file.

I find it comical that most of the people shouting "terrorists hate freedom" don't even know what freedom is. Most of these people hate the EXACT SAME freedom that the terrorists do: homosexuality, porn, women dressing slutty, drugs, gambling, and all that fun stuff. We sparked war w/ a nation having nothing to do w/ anything. Were gonna establish a base in Iraq whcih is the main goal, like we did w/ camp steel (HUGE military base built in 1999) near Russia to assert power over the oil supply.
The Arab world revolves its law around the Quran, Like Americans do but to a greater extent.
So its not like there against freedom because we made them our enemy, few nations have the money to wage war across the ocean.

Unless we are willing to stomach a real fight against the funding and source of I.T. With the war in Iraq we have taken off the leash of a bigger beast. Iraq posed no threat to the U.S,since 1991 Saddam was satisfied with ruling his own people. Islamic people do not think like we do there for more extreme measures have to be taken to control them. Saddam knew this and did what he had to do to accomplish this. We can scream about human rights all we want but the civil war betweem tribes in Iraq have shown that Iraqis can not handle freedom as in weastern culture and never will.
