  • for volume on 10 it sounds ballless

  • i dont say this to alot of people but you and your band actually sound good

  • I this amp too loud for home practice use? I'd like to be able to get the cranked, overdriven tones without annoying the neighbors ( I live in a townhouse). I'm weighing in my mind getting the Ht-1 or Ht-5; I assume the Ht1 would fit my volume limits better but the Ht5 has some an FX loop that I would want. Or conversational levels can you get rich tones out of it?

  • how did you get such a good tone? i can't get anywhere near as much gain as that out of my ht-5, you boosting it with a tubescreamer or something? what pups are you using?

  • @Metallishred612 he has a Marshall 4x12 cab with Celestion speakers.

  • i know i should know this but what's the name of the song that starts at :35?

  • @skatezero1260 Van Halen-Ain't talkin bout love!

  • cool man, would this amp be good for black metal?

  • Dude that's cool in full volume

  • Why are people saying this is not a real tube amp? I kinda want one just to mess around with at home..thank for the video i also have voxac4tv its great just i want of of these for high gain settings.

  • @eatthemoon13 People say it's not a tube amp because they don't have one. It is a tube amp and a good one at that. Fantastic work on their part.

  • @eatthemoon13 Its has alot of solid state boost circutry built into it. It's a 'true' tube amp, but it's not a 'pure' tube amp since the amount of gain it puts out reqires alot more than 1 preamp and 1 poweramp tube respectively.

  • fantastico! Seriously, one of the best blackstar clips I've heard on here. Would have been better with an SM57 off axis but oh well.

  • great video!!!! gotta love van halen... haha this amp is freakin loud for 5 watts! i played at a wedding reception (outdoors) with my band and it did fine

  • Brilliant tones and playing!

  • was this at full volume?

  • Very Nice !

  • Excellent vid - is something always being asked and a worthy Youtube offering. Now - can we have a bit more with the band in and also details of the other amps and where mike was located??

  • @snotmale

The Mic is just the one attatched to the camera. IIRC, it was sitting on a pool table. Haha. If you want, subscribe to my page, and I'll post up a band vid of our show on the 13th for ya.

  • A lot of people say this 5W amp cannot keep up with a full band. I think you just proved them wrong!:D Great Job!!

  • Very good playing :) I have been considering this Amp Head With a 2x12 or a Peavey 6505+ combo 112, and what is the Peavey amp in front of the camera?

  • @LiamRTube i think its for the bass

  • Aint talking about love!! awesome song I have a marshall jcm 900 and i was wondering with that blackstar head would i get crushing metal tones?

  • What song are you playing in that clip? Sounds good.

  • Something from Van halen, I can't remember the name exactly.

  • aint talkin bout love

  • great sound... this really convinces me more and more for this little amp

  • is the head at full volume for this video?

  • Everything was cranked to 10.

  • i bought my blackstar ht-5 head after watching this. thanks man.

  • i see the top of a beer can

    yes!

  • Looks like a sprite can to me... :(

  • Whoa, that is such a nice tone especially for the price of the amp.

  • Nice. Great job.

  • Amazing tone. Juicy and delicious. If they made this thing in like 40 watts i'd get one right away! But I'll just save up and wait for the Series One 100watt head :{D

  • There is a 45 watt series one that goes down to 5 watts

  • yeah thats true, but i want a head, so i'll go with the 100 watt head

  • What's wrong with 5 watts? Plenty loud enough, and with a 100watt valve head you'll never get PT distortion unless you play big gigs/crank it at said gigs.

  • Do you think that 5watts will get me through large gigs with another guitarist in my band? I wanna be sure i have enough kick to deliver

  • Yeah, should work. there should be a P.A there anyway, so even if your other guitarist is trying to max out their power tubes, you should be able to catch up still.

  • Mic it.

  • the 100 head is switchable from between 10 watts up to the full 100, so it would suit most gig/practice situations if you were to buy one. and unlike alot of other amps with this feature you dont lose any tone at lower settings as the reduction feature doesnt sit between the valves and loudspeaker. instead it reduces the output valves voltages proportionally maintaining the dynamic feel and compression of power stage 'sag' ay any output level

  • I hear some Paul Gilbert :D

  • That's because Paul Gilbert is the freakin' man. ;)

  • Paul Gilbert is the ONLY one for me!!!

  • awesome playing. do you think this head would be able to be heard loud over drums with a 2x12 cab?

  • I dont think so.. to get this amp really loud you need to make it push a shitload of air, which means at least 4x12.

And the more airtight the cab is, the louder it will get.

  • What voulme was this on? It wasn't cranked was it?

  • Oh yeah!!! Everything was on 10.

  • You can get rid of that awful Marshall MG now! ;)

  • lol, that was my bass player's. Haha. My Marshall DSL was behind it. :D

  • You sound f'n awesome. Wish I was that good. Sweet amp too.

  • damn nice

  • I'm really thinking about this....will the cab that comes with the head be loud enough for a band scenario....because it's really small

  • yes

  • nope

  • nice ampp and cabb im thinking of buying an ht-5 head because they sound amazing. If I were to buy it though, id buy the like 1x10 cab to go along with it because i have a crate flexwave 4x12 cab that sux the tone out of just about every :D so I'd only use that giant waste of space live :D

  • Did you just run this with a guitar, straight to the amp?

Is this really loud enough for a full band practice?

  • I had it going through my pedals. But only had the VS Route 66 OD kicked on. Then popped on the Phase 90 for Ain't Talkin' Bout love. It's loud enough for practice if you're drummer isn't a banger.

  • Nice tone, which guitar/pickups? Same guitar as the DSL50 clip? thanks.

  • Thanks! Yeah, it's my Gutierrez Juggernaut with a Duncan Custom in the Bridge, and a '59 in the neck.

  • Great playing.

  • Thanks dude!

  • Great tone man!

By the way, I'm just planning to use this amp through a Marshall MG4x12 cabinet, is it possible?

  • yes, it will be POSSIBLE, but that doesn't mean it will sound good. MG cabinets are made out of particle board..

  • Thanks!!! Yeah, it would be possible.

  • It's loud enough to gig with.

I played through a Marshall 1960a 4x12, in front of 400 people. It was mic'd.

  • if i ran this through my 2x12 cab could i keep up with my band? Most stuff we play is distorted so yeah.

  • It's hard to say.

  • do you think it's loud enough? (for a small gig)

  • If you mic it. Otherwise I'd say no.

  • What's EVH doing in your garage? haha this is really good.

  • Haha, thanks dude! Unfortunately I just returned the amp yesterday. Loved it, but owed my ex bandmates $900.

  • Ahh, damn.. Would you buy it again?

  • Yeah, but just the head. The speakers are only "ok"

  • Hey i was just wondering what volume you had this amp at? And do you gig with it?

  • That was cranked, EVERYTHING was at 10. Never gigged with it, no.

  • would you gig with this amp?

  • Amazing sound and playing. What a nice piece of gear, I wish I had it...

...wait a minute, I do have it! ^^ (I'm having it shipped by now he he)

    so cool, yay me! Cheerz.

  • =)

    Enjoy!

  • GREAT!!!!

  • What is the name of the song you play during the second part with your band?

  • Ain't talkin about love, Van Halen.

  • Yep!

  • Thank you i knew it was Evh but i couldnt find which one. Anyway you really have his tone !

  • Nice! What was the master level set at?

Is it possible to get an audible clean tone in the band mix?

  • Everything was turned all the way up. Didn't try the clean sound with the band, but I would assume not. I'll try next week.

  • nice playing better see you play next time

  • Thanks, nobody wants to look at me though. Ha.
