Blacksite was the most glitch ridden game I've ever played. I beat it just as a "Screw you!" to the developer's.

To bad it wasn't as good as its predecessors.

I use to see this all the time in arcades. The one home version that I have is for the Saturn. I've read before that Atari had a coinop version of the Jaguar called the COJAG. I believe this was one of only 7 titles that used it. A shame it never came out on the Jaguar home console. It would have been one of the better games for the system.

OMG! I remember playing this when I was about 5! I only really got to level 2, though, and if i remember that one at the begining who said 'stay low' when you lost turned into one of those creatures and i'm still scarred to this day!

Well I've double checked the back of the box, though it just lists a few "facts" about the game, it does have the line "Powerups and sophisticated weaponry keep you armed and dangerous".

The copy I brought of this game, dosn't have that "awesome weaponry" line on the back, probably because it's packaged under the Midway classics package line & was re-realeased around 1998/2000, according to the back of the box.

I wish there was a system that would put out classic 90's arcade games like this in the same graphics or better that they were, rather than trying to improve on them by making them 3d. Cause back in the day when you'd get the game for your system the graphics weren't as good as the arcade, then this style of shooting games as well as 2d fighting games (which are better imo) went out.

Well a lot of Xbox Live Arcade games are like that (have a look at Bionic Commando Rearmed) but the Wii has plenty too, Konami have just released a game very much like Area 51, called Maximum Force for the Wii.

To be honest, I've not played the PC version, but its FMV was a little ropey in those days so i'd guess they'd be about the same.

I would prefer to play it on a PS1 myself, as you'd need a nice big TV to enjoy it.

Depends on what format you want it on really.

It's not a bad game per say, I quite enjoyed it, but uits pretty much a run of the mill shooter.

Its slightly better than the 360 version, its not the greatest FPS in history, but it's worth a play through! It's a wee bit like Resistance Fall of Man to some extent.

Anyone wonder about that guy in 1:27? After you get picked up by the helicopter's latter, the guy in it continues to drive and you can see him crash and explode.

lol I was in grade 9 when me and my buddy would ride our bikes all the way to the Arcade (we lived in a hick town) to play Area51! What a game! I never knew it ran on hardware similar to the Jag either.
