Nice. This is a frictional electrostatic machine. A wider charge collector, picking charge all along the tube, would produce more charge. A Tube with larger diameter would produce greater voltage and longer sparks.

instead of setting a gap. why not let it charge up all the way?

I built a very large jar and it hurts like a mother fucker.

I get about 3 inch sparks.

I need a better charger though, so I might use the drill instead of manual

Helpful hint

Don't grab a large jar with both hands.

That sends the charge across your chest similar to a defibrillator. If your lucky you will just get hurt.

If you are not lucky You...Are...Dead
