For those people who think there won't be a simulation mode are being stupid. If anyone has played GRID by Codemasters then they will know that you can take aids off and there is cockpit view only. However the physics weren't awesome on that game but they said they were using a better game engine for this. This footage is on arcade mode but the driver is without ABS. I think the game should be good.

Split/Second, NFS Shift were thoroughly enjoyable but when a company says their product is a simulation, it isn't asking too much to expect a simulation. Space Image or LFS developers don't make any bones about their product and that's how it should be. GT5 is going to be a stupid eye candy showcase I can already tell. Anyway, there seems to be new videos of this game so I'll go watch them and salivate until it is released.

Rfactor is maybe good only with original cars. Rfactor is popular only becous moding and not becous is so good in simulating cars. Some mods has nothing to do with real feel for handling the cars. Ok maybe is rfactor primary not make for F1, but when some noob say that rfactor ist best simulator for F1, make me smile. How can you make good simulation in one year? Dont be stupid. Just see how long LFS developers develop their own game and is stil in alpha version.
LFS develeppers do have a very small budget and they are not enough to develop faster as far as i know but youre right in some way.. some rfactor mods can get really realistic (some others not) it also depends on the setup of your car... somtimes the only way to get very fast in rfactor is to make the car handle unrealistic....

me too LOL! You Can turn Off the driving aids in Dirt and Grid and the car still performs quite Arcady! The Engine here is the same so Im not Quite optimistic about the Simulation Mode of F1 2010!
Arcade? Maybe. But don't forget this was most certainly trying the game for like the first time ever, with all the driving aids you can imagine. F1 Challenge is also a sim, but with all the driving aids it's as arcade as it gets. So stop judging the game until you know what's actually going on - besides, Codemasters said it will be scalable to adapt to everyone's needs, and considering there haven't been official F1 games in a while, I am sure there will be a simulation mode aswell.

It was preset so anyone could just jump in andplay with not everything in (full handling penalties sim features) and also had the ability to easily crashjh and get back racing. rain effects are beautiful and if you push too much in corner exit you won't stay on the track for long.
@tjbayliss there's a skill called comprehension, and logical deduction. Learn it. Here's an example. My phrase "IF rF2 and F1 2010 from CM will be close in quality, I won't be impressed with rF2". Doing simple logical train of thought you'll come to a conclusion that I wouldn't be impressed by an arcade racer called rF2. Meaning that rF is a sim while everything CM does EXCLUSIVELY arcades. THUS if they were close, rF had to be dumbed down for use with a keyboard or a controller (I.E: Made bad)

Variation DRIVES the industry. rFactor has no bearing on anything else and never should.

I will be picking up this game in one form or another but being multiplatform you'd think they could satisfy their hardcore audience. rFactor is an industry benchmark whether you want to believe it or not; I believe they have licensed their physics engine which is basically their entire game since the "shells" are community generated. Alas if you understood that you wouldn't flog rFactor for being just a niche product.

1. They need the performace data of the cars.
2. Since there will be car upgrades, they need pictures of real life upgrades.
3. F1 2010 tv style is not ready.
4. Car shape modeling is not even ready yet. These are 2009 cars, if you don't know.

Arcade? Maybe. But don't forget this was most certainly trying the game for like the first time ever, with all the driving aids you can imagine. F1 Challenge is also a sim, but with all the driving aids it's as arcade as it gets. So stop judging the game until you know what's actually going on - besides, Codemasters said it will be scalable to adapt to everyone's needs, and considering there haven't been official F1 games in a while, I am sure there will be a simulation mode aswell.

It was preset so anyone could just jump in andplay with not everything in (full handling penalties sim features) and also had the ability to easily crashjh and get back racing. rain effects are beautiful and if you push too much in corner exit you won't stay on the track for long.

@tjbayliss there's a skill called comprehension, and logical deduction. Learn it. Here's an example. My phrase "IF rF2 and F1 2010 from CM will be close in quality, I won't be impressed with rF2". Doing simple logical train of thought you'll come to a conclusion that I wouldn't be impressed by an arcade racer called rF2. Meaning that rF is a sim while everything CM does EXCLUSIVELY arcades. THUS if they were close, rF had to be dumbed down for use with a keyboard or a controller (I.E: Made bad)

Nobody for a second thinks this will be better than rFactor 2.
I just said it has options to be a sim.
As a dedicated Formula One game it SHOULD be better at simulating F1 than rFactor 2.
Sadly, I don't see that happening.
rFactor 2 will dominate the racing market.

Offense IS taken at the console noobs - I'm a serious simulation fan, but I play on consoles because I can't afford to keep improving my PC to meet games expectations. I think that's a fair reason and not one to be patronised for. And guess what, I've played virtually every NFS and NOT EXPECTED A SIM. Variation DRIVES the industry. rFactor has no bearing on anything else and never should.
PS. the simulation IS the game, the arcade part is the aids.

@MikeCR31 You're getting into the nitty gritty minutia. I will be picking up this game in one form or another but being multiplatform you'd think they could satisfy their hardcore audience. rFactor is an industry benchmark whether you want to believe it or not; I believe they have licensed their physics engine which is basically their entire game since the "shells" are community generated. Alas if you understood that you wouldn't flog rFactor for being just a niche product.

There are no driving aides in F1.

That's just natural friction in the engine. But they no longer have control over it.
I'm pretty certain I heard Brundle say in his commentary that they no longer have control over Engine Braking since 2008.
That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it probably means they just can't change the amount of engine braking.
