  • ok then stop global warming mr.unnivadakkan

  • I am sure

u have read the above comments and my answers to UNNI too.

here in india too many discussions keeps happening..

    it is nice to maintain..

but tibet is not so as it is today due to human intervention..

geographical / geophysical reasons are more than the human..

many times problems are extra important to get more research resources and to pull money into accademic interests.

some time too much of politics too..

  • predicting the nature, that too at city / populous places - which makes only the smallest percentage of the globe.

The data collected at a few airports (for the past few years the number of airports increased in number, but how many years of data were in the database.?)

Today satellite based measurements made it better.

Thus when we say data of hundreads of years, it is for a small area, that too at a few locations !!

That is the issue in models here, data and quality. Then prediction model.

  • hi dr, Gud to c ur interview. i got couple of questions to ask. I live in the uk and global warming is a hot topic and there are hugh protests against this by enviromentalists. india and other countries are widely accused for its share in this process-how do u react to that? what would be ur answer to the people out here who scares and dreads about global warming, realistically, how much can a humanbeing regulate this. I realise i had many questions, reply if you got time.

    Thanks

    Naveen.

  • "SEEN and read enough on these. did lot of effort in learning through have seen many proff and counter"

Dr Sasikumar, This is not the right approach in my opinion. If you are convinced by your self, I would appreciate if you could explain that. I am not an expert in this, however I am reasonably familiar with what is going on around and trying to understand and learn. In fact I came to your blog while I was searching about studies/work regarding global warming in India.

  • If you look at weather predictions in India and in US, I see a lot of differences in terms of how accurate they are. We can in fact predict weather, may not be years to come but within two or three days. Again you may probably know the NE program using one of the fastest super computer to model weather patterns in the next 50 years or so. I don't know what kind of modeling approach they take to do that; however I am reluctant to comment that they are bogus efforts.

  • By the by, I was talking about weather predictions in US.

"data / analysis are all just made for the purpose of the policy.

scientists work for project and money are blind at times"

Again, here also I could agree partially, not 100%. What is wrong in formulating a policy based on data, I agree that it shouldn't happen the other way. In fact probably you may know that, there was a time where research is being done for the sake of research even in Industries and we know the out come of it.

  • SEEN and read enough on these.

did lot of effort in learning through.

have seen many proff and counter.

more than science / scientists it is the political interest seen.

too many restrictions / public being out against it.

    CHINA is cool.

  • I could point to many many theories and web sites as well that talks about global warming including the work of Al Gore, former US vice president. Another reference I could point is the work by Al Gore

"An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It"

  • technically we are not good even to predict the WEATHER for the next few days.

how to predict the CLIMATE for the years to come.

data / analysis are all just made for the purpose of the policy.

scientists work for project and money are blind at times.

  • I am just curious to know whether you think global warming is a hoax or not. Also, I am curious why just blame on Americans saying that it is a propaganda by americans and why it doesn't incude European countries. In fact Europe has better pollution standard than US and they do worry about gloabl warming.

  • many times these are hight geo-politics.

see the movie British TV production on

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Produced by WAGTV

  • True, I could agree with the fact that the developed worlds are polluting more than developing countries; however going from there and making a generalized statement such as 'American philosophy......" is little bit of stretch in my opinion. In fact in US itself there are strong oppositions in maintaining this kind of living standard by consuming so much. At the same time, I do believe that every country will go through the same process when they try to improve their living standard.

  • In the context of Global Warming Haux being made by Americans, the axe being put on the developmental activity of India and China is being looked at in this interview.

The restrictions on the polution is argued as baseless as it will hamper the development. Developed nations are poluting this world more. The per head contribution is what Indian government including Sri.Manmohan singh argued.

  • I believe it is not right to make such blind statements without supporting facts. I respectfully agree with you if it is your opinion than stating it as facts. However if it is your opinion I would appreciate if you could clarify the context or thought process when you made that statements.

  • Therefore the attitude of portraying a picture that Americans are devil compared to Indians in terms of life philosophy is wrong. I could definitely point that America is far better in respecting basic human rights of their citizens/immigrants in US compared to what Indians are practicing today in India. In my opinion there are different big problems in US compared to what we experience in India. Eg: Categorization of people, Influence of corporate on average Americans life etc..

  • Dr. Sasikumar, I am not trying to take one of your statements out of context; however the generalization of the statements such as 'American philosophy is that, only Americans should be happy in this world' is not fair and doesn't depict the facts either. I could agree with you that the traditional Indian philosophy is 'loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu' however the one Indians practice today is very much different from that.
