Well Karate was derived from White Crane kung-fu in Okinawa where the Chinese traded with Japan, so same same really. All in all this is a great martial arts movie for martial artists, I would personally put this up with movies like Fearless.

@xMrsLaurenCullenx16 you are probably too young to even know why some people talk about the "original" Karate Kid, and therefore why they question the title of the newest remake (Karate Kid has been remade a million times: "Kickboxer" = Karate Kid with Muy Thai, "Never Back Down" = Karate Kid with Muy Thai, and there must be others I am forgetting). But at least those remakes changed the title accordingly. Why call it Karate Kid if it takes place in China and the hero is taught Kung Fu?

I remember watching all 3 original films in one sitting at the movies - there was a guy at the front in the audience who kept standing up cheering every time the KK did some cool Karate moves!

Not worth watching! I fell asleep in the first 10 minutes. The fights scenes are not realistic and the acrobatics are wired!

Non martial artists will like the movie because don't know any better so enjoy it for what's it worth - Hollywood blockbuster that's it!

The thing I cannot understand is, that THis film is called Karate kid, but this guy moves to Beijing which is in China, and KARATE is found by Japanese. HE lives in China and chinese master is teaching himc martial arts found by Chinese,< so how come it is KARATE KID???? Seriuosly???? so what if the story fits to the original karate kid, this is not KARATE... IF you make movies they should consider not just the action but the tittle ans style as well.... Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts "the karate kid" on the floor with ease. Its his transition from karate to kung fu i think.
