  • when using it to record a gaming sytem like an xbox how do u get the video in hd please email me my email is neilmax20@hotmail.com

  • @RoYaLSLeePY get the pvr

  • is it possible to use pinnacle moviebox with software other than pinnacle studio ? sony vegas for example ??

  • Hi, Good info. I edit using Premiere CS5 and i was wondering if this device can be used to capture using Adobe On Location? The problem for me is my new laptop doesn't have 1394 or a express slot to add one. So i'm stuck with either USB 2 or 3 adapters, but this seems like the best solution.

  • Hi,

Really like the video, I think it's a great review. I am thinking about purchasing this product because I want to back up my home videos. I want to record them all in and then edit it, would it allow you to record 6 hours in one go? Also, does the video and sound ever go out of sync, particuarly if it's a long video? I have previously purchased other products, which went out of sync if you didnt burn straight to dvd and could only record 1 hour.

    Thanks

  • Hi, just one important question. While capturing can I watch the video "live" (I know there is a bit of delay) fullscreen, or just in a greater size? Bigger than it was at 04:05 in the vid. and during that process can I hear the sound? Thx!

  • My friend told me about the Pinnacle Movie Box Ultimate. But i wanted to do some reaseach on it first before I buy it. Your video made up my mind, I am definetly buying it 100%! By the way, the Movie box can be used for recording games of an Xbox360 Concle, thars what my friend uses it for. His channle name is Mommy7220, go on it if you dont believe me.

  • When you are using the capture device, could like record from different angles and stuff, like just not straight from the game??

  • Can the Pinnacle MovieBox be used as a game cam??

  • @ProGamer1714,

Not really... no passthrough and the is a slight delay with the video.

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Yo can the pinncale do video games if so what do i need? really help if answered and a great review on this awsome device.

  • anybody know how to connect the movie box as a capture card to the ps3 in HD.

  • @swartsanager2 I think u just need to connect PS3 da same way u connect da Wii. Xbox is completely different but will still work. Im an LPer here on youtube so I got mine and I need 1 more cord, the S video cord.

  • Thanks a ton! This video helped me make my decision. Ill be getting one this Wednsday. 5/5

  • Good luck! -- Let us know when your videos go up.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Why's he keep saying bulletproof when it's not.. :/

  • great review. dazzle/pinnacle should be proud of themselves.

  • Awesome the Ultimate can be used as a pass-through that is what I have wondering. Well I'm outta here gotta go pick one up. Thanks for the input <---(Geek pun) Father, God Bless!

  • i just mine but none of my specal effects work it tells me my graphic card is not fully compatible im sure thats why but hope not. can i just buy a better of 1 with more memory or am i stuck with what i got. and is thare a way i can get my green screen o work 4 now of so how i cant find it lol.

  • This is what i have. :)

  • i just got the Pinnacle today but when i try to hook up my x box to it via s-video through my VCR it says it cannot detect it

  • I got this just last weekend and I just now had time to set up the hardware- However, I can't get it to work with my Xbox 360! I've seen lots of other people have this same sort of question, and all seem to be happy with an answer I don't see them getting. I've tried connecting my xbox to my pinnacle directly, through my old VCR, and through a DVD player. I actually just got it to start recording sound, but video is a no show.

  • I'm rather new to the red, blue, and green composite jacks, and seeing as how they work, I can't seem to use any ONE of them for video, and the regular red jack won't give any video. I tried all three composite jacks individually:

    Blue: nothing

Green: Bad, wavy, black & white double image of the video

Red: thin bar moving down and coming back from the top repeatedly

    Any advice?

  • Okay, I still need a little bit of help actually, I meant to say original yellow jack (I think?), and also, aren't there any adapters I can use to combine the component video jacks into one input jack?

  • Can i record xbox gameplay with this like i do with the Dazzle .?

  • @TheRealWisdom you need cable splitters (for the red/yellow/white cables) and then plug your xbox cables and your tv cables so you can watch what you can record on your tv while recording

  • At 3:54 did it work when you plugged in only the blue cable out of the red, blue and green cables

  • abicigo,

    Yes.

  • Was the picture and quality normal? And if I was playing my Xbox 360 and split the cable would I be able to record with this?

  • could i use the firewire port on the divece to plug in a firewiere mixer, like a m-audio NRV10?

  • Hmmm... I've never used a firewire mixer, but if it's a standard Firewire device it should work just fine.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Does it loose any quality on the firewire to usb?

  • No... not even a little.

  • does the video studio come with everything? the greenscreen, and the video box too? i went to best buys website, and it doesnt say anything about the box or greenscreen

  • The green screen comes with the Ultimate.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • i was just trying to make sure, thanks for ur help :)

  • DARKMASTERLINKX,

NP... good luck and let us know how it goes!

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Hi i hope you respond but ive been wonderign where to get the converter

  • Hey I bought the pinnacle ultimate 12 it didn't come with the little gaget thing. It only came with the green screen and the software. Was it supposed to come with the other thing? And I have tried to use it and I am lost to be honest. I really need some tutorials.

  • Do I need a Duo Core processor to run vista on ultimate? I have a Genuine Intel(R) CPU 575 @2.00 GHz with 2Gb ram if it helps i have a Compaq Prescario CQ50 Notebook PC

  • hey u should make a video on how to record game footage using this pinnacle studio box thing directly from a game console.. i just got mine for christmas but i cant use it the way i want it to

  • unholyblackout,

So many people have asked for it, so I'm going to try to get it on the schedule for next week.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Okay well i can't find any videos on how to connect this, so i record my xbox 360.

Here is how i set it up:

I have my xbox AV (Yellow, Red, White) cables going into the input side.

On the output side I have a AV cable going into my television.

But on my TV. My xbox screen is coming up blurry.

Also I can't get the image to come into the preview screen. Its green, I tryed a new cord but still no luck.

Do i use splitters or what. I don't want to take it back and have to get a dazzle.

  • YouPianoTube,

We're planning an episode for next week... a quikie "workshop" feature that will show people how to do it.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • can you show me how to hook it up to an xbox 360

  • Will do!

  • I have everything set up, my xbox av go into the input, and the out put goes into my tv. but nothings coing upp on my screen.

  • YouPianoTube,

Time for some basic troubleshooting. Do you have another video source you can use? (A composite camera, another game console, etc.) Try plugging in one or two other sources. If you still don't get video, then theres something wrong with the way the hardware is connected to your computer or the setup of the software.

What suite are you using for caputer?

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • I got one for Christmas. Can't wait to try it out!

  • dogerz22,

Good deal! I hope you enjoy it.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • do u know if i could record off my xbox with this? i have one...

  • capnADD,

You could, but only with the composite (i.e. non-HD) output from the XBOX.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • I love this sooo much! Thanks for all the help, I just got mine so I'm still experimenting on it. I still haven't found anything bad about it yet! The only thing I would have to say bad about it is that the downloading time takes a little while, but it's faster than others! Thanks so much!

  • oddrandomthings,

You are very welcome! -- And thanks for watching 'gadget'!

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • ok i have a xbox 360 and im thinkin about gettin the unlimited movie box and i was wandering if you know if there is any extension cords about 30 to 50 feet or any length to hook up to windows xp

  • masterokillin,

There ARE extensions USB cables that will go that long, but many of the bargain basement USB extenders will either degrade the throughput or randomly cut out.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Ok i got have a question. Ive been looking for a capture card that would work with vista but i just havent found one. But i think u said that it worked with vista so could u please reply to me i want to if it will work with windows vista home premium please?

  • It does. We've used it with all versions of Vista with sucess. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • If i wanted to set this up to record myself playing on my xbox 360 and record what is on my TV straight to my PC(running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit)how would i set it up? (game in 60Hz)

  • Would i be better off just going for the cheaper Moviebox plus?

  • That would depend on if you plan on doing heavy editing or not. If all you want to do is capture your gaming sessions, then the Moviebox plus will do you just fine. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • When u say heavy editing do u mean the the movie box plus still comes with editing software, its just not as good as if i got ultimate?

  • LemonDemon3,

The hardware is the same. Only the editing software is different. Plus the ultimate package comes with things like the green screen and the FX.

  • ok thank you, you have been a massive help :)

  • This is a very good review, it convinced me to buy this system. However, the analog to digital converter does not work with Adobe Premiere, but only with the Pinnacle Software (The quality is excellent though). The Firewire to USB converter does work with Adobe Premiere.

  • Really? What version of Premiere are you using?

  • CS3

  • now, could i be able to upload my videos to a different editing software other than pinnacle (like power director or something)

  • Yes. The device looks just like a Firewire port to any standards-based editing software.

  • is the software almost like studio 12 ultimate? some one rely!!

  • huntersk8n123,

It's the previous version of studio so you can expect all the same features in 12 plus a few extras. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • thnx

  • can u use it 4 machinima purposes?

  • I'm doing lag testing right now... I'll let you know in a bit.

  • i own one and i record for my machinima clan and it works flawlessly!!! its def worth it

also when you record it looks like it lags but when your done recording its all in place

for me it lags about .5 sec behind in whats happening!

  • Thanks sparts227 --- that's pretty much what I'm getting on my end. Perhaps a little less lag depending on the power of the recording station.

  • wow...the best quality video i ever seen on youtube

what format and how do you upload on youtube

and can i record tv on that box like dazzle

    in HD?

  • It's just a standard 3CCD Sony PD-150. We used Pinnacle Studio to edit the file into a 720x480 WMV file that we uploaded to YouTube.

You can use the Dazzle, but analog video doesn't typically look as good as digital media. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • I love that light saber app.

Too bad my 3G broke :(

  • I'm sorry to hear that. If you bought the phone from Apple or AT&T they should be able to replace it for you...unless it died from drowning :(

  • Well done. I'm new to recording and have been looking for a way to improve my results. This may fit the bill.

  • Nice!!!

  • so i could use this if i did not have a firewire cable for my camcorder and just rca outputs or if i want to get my sattelites video output onto my computer like a tivo kinda thing? just the recording thing

  • Yes. --- Though you have to remember that analog doesn't look nearly as good as any of the digital format. (lower resolution, more noise, etc.)

  • yeah thats true, thankfully i got an updated camcorder that has firewire, lol

  • Hey Robbie, Glad to serve as Uber-nerd yet again! No, no...feel free to embarrass me further ;p

  • I have 20+ years of video. VHS and digital tape. Can this device and its software allow me to digitize all my video and transfer it to DVD?

  • Yup.

  • at my school i do the morning attenoutsment and i was wondering if onre this gadget can you set it were it automaticly outputs it to something. ex: live weather broadcast

  • Well you could use this device to do the output. But the timing thing would really be a matter to whatever software you might be using.

  • haha your sister in the beginning is sooo funny!!!!!

  • Nice job, i tried this and its exactlly how it sounds. Keep doing what your doing!

  • Great review!

  • Thanks for watching!

  • i have the exact same product except mines is Plus. now i seen you connected the component cable to the capture device. does that really work and able to record in HD? i mostly use my movie box to record video game play and make music videos from the gameplay. now my question is. how cna i convert my recorded footage that was through S-video and make it true HD with studio 11? i read somewhere in pinnalce that in order to have HD i need a 256mb graphics card. is this true?

  • I was just using component cables, but it was plain 'ole RCA analog on the other side.

You can't upconvert your video... at least, not REALLY. You could end up with a HD output and it MIGHT look better than standard def if you apply the right filters, but as a rule if the data wasn't there to start off with, it just isn't going to look right.

You DO need a higher-end graphics card if you are going to do HD content. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • It would be cheaper to just get an inexpensive capture cable, capturing the video with VirtualDub and encoding to pretty much any format with XviD4PSP.

  • Capturing, yes... editing, no.

You also have to remember that the hardware that comes with this package will give you far better analog-digital quality than a cheap capture card.

If you're just looking for something that can capture video and post it raw to YouTube, then your solution is fine. However, if you want to edit and produce... then you need something with a little more firepower.

  • thx for the test n' stuff. this really helps a lot.
