Actually the 2004 defense was very slightly better, but not by much. The 2004 defense didn't allow over 21 points by anyone all year. The problem is, in 2004 the offense sucked (except against Indiana and Michigan State), highlighted by a 4-6 loss to Iowa. 2005 we finished 11-1 for two reasons, we learned how not to collapse after a close loss, like we did after 1999 Minnesota, and we had a great offense. A great offense with an NFL-quality defense equals finishing in the top 5.

I think Purdue won, too, but it doesn't count for much since it was against some MAC team. I'm not a Michigan fan at all but I was cheering for them to win against Florida and was glad they won, since I always cheer for the Big 10 in bowl games. My top three teams are Penn State, Notre Dame, and Pitt in that order. With the PSU vs ND games, I cheer for Penn State but kinda hate when they play each other since I'll be cheering for ND to lose. Now the Pitt games, those are an old rivalry I miss.

When they converted that 4th and 15 play vs n'western and robinson threw the td pass to DWill for the game winning score, 34-29. I believed that it was an incredible win for this team. They were next to last in the Big 10 the year before that and to watch them win was just an incredible moment. That moved them to 4-0.

I can only think of two Maryland Terps that went to have NFL sucess: Boomer Esiason and Frank Reich. When it comes to Penn Staters with successful NFL careers, Rosey Grier, Lenny Moore, Lydell Mitchell, Joe Jurevicius, LaVar Arrington, D.J. Dozier, and Todd Blackledge are exceptions.
