Saw him with Rick Derringer, Santa Monica Civic Center probably 1971-72 - loudest freaking concert ever. The "teenyboppers" were lined up outside for the midnight show. Saw Johnny in Memphis and Nashville mid-70's. Just as great.

I give him Kudo's to still be playing at his age of 62 in spite of his many serious illnesses and set-backs. This is one tough Texan. However I would highly recommend viewing his vids from the 70's-that was when he was at his peak. Please no flaming but I love his looks (I don't care about his eyes-in fact, it adds to his uniqueness)...but I am sure that he had a nose job and WHY?? I loved his nose. I hope that he gets into the Hall of Fame. He deserves it!!

If I recall correctly Johnny and his brother Edgar are albinos and vision is a genetic problem. I believe he is close to blind at this point in this point of life. Photosensitivity (lights and the sun)s a problem for many people. I'm not trying to be a know it all but I'm a big fan and he deserves to be judged only by his playing.
