  • What pernicious distortions. Tax dodging Illegal immigrants and their 5.5 children per couple are bankrupting Colorado and these are the same politicians who create policies to encourage and protect illegals. These are scare tactics to prevent the bureaucrats from losing their velvet pensions and golden domes. TABOR has always infuriated politicians who want to steal the meager incomes of private citizens without having to be inconvenienced by asking first.

  • Mark also mentions that Colorado has about 1 billion in deficits because of TABOR. Arizona currently has 1.2 billion in deficits, that state does not have TABOR. Having family that resides in both Phoenix and Denver, I can attest that illegal immigration also plays a major role in why these states are seeing costs for services (police, schools) going up and not seeing the added revenue from non-tax paying illegals. The problem lies in Washington too, they would just rather look the other way.

  • Maine isn't Colorado. You can't compare states like Colorado or any other western U.S. states where you have much higher population growth. Of course you are going to need tax revenue to pay for that influx of people to pay for schools, roads, etc. The big problem in Maine is we have slower growth, but spending at municipal levels and state levels continue to expand way beyond what is needed to serve our people.
