  • nice vid

  • @monitorsonly , Thank you!

  • where do you get these guys?

  • @SPIKE2TAPOUT , I was fortunate enough to find mine from a local et shop. But the best place to search is kingsnake.

  • u dont need a water bowl and pool

  • @herprule I sure do, He poops in the pool, and he doesnt do that in the water, Also the water bowl is easy to change daily. I clean the pool 2x a week, But after he poops i take it out for a few days.

  • So evil as in steals your brownies evil or wants to bite your head off evil?

  • @ReptileWhisperer1 , EVil as in he wants to tail whip and depend his home with all his might. He never tries to bite. Just tries to scare me away, which basically means it wants to be left alone. But sometimes it will walk right up on my hand.

  • @ReptileWhisperer1 Defend.... not depend, oops...

  • Hokey cow he is so big and well...big now!!!! Is he as nice as he was when he was a baby?

  • @ReptileWhisperer1 , He is moody, Some days are good and some days he is EVIL!. I only interact with him on the good days, when he is being very friendly. He is happiest after swimming. But to answer your question fully, I dont think he is as nice anymore... =)

  • Nice setup, bro! Wat app r u usin to record ur videos?

  • @royalluv2008 , I use a Kodak Zi8 to record all my videos. Its the cheapest way for me to get HD quality videos.

  • @iLLz32 so how do you do all the visual effects?

  • @royalluv2008 , I use iMovie, the software came with my mac pc. Im still learning how to fully use it. If you look back at my old videos, You can tell my editing has gotten much better. I've actually considered taking editing classes, so I can really learn some cool stuff.

  • Cool Setup,Monitor Looking Good,Loves His Grub

  • @MrReptileSmile , Thank Gerry, He sure des love to eat. But he doesn't get rats often, this was onl a treat for the camera.

  • Beautiful...it's my Grover's cousin!!! My lizards are mess mongers as well. I have seen some people try putting plants and other decorations in their enclosure only to see them destroyed. My Grover is an escape artist as well and will not hesitate to jump from ANY height to get away. They are really fun. My Tegu is like an old man next to my mangrove. Subbed.

  • @universaldave999 , Thanks bud! and yes i know what you mean as far as activity level compared to other animals. They have tons of energy.

  • You really should not take him out of his hide/burrow while he's hiding. I mean, the fact that he is hiding means that he doesn't want to be seen/handled. When you remove a monitor from its hide (even to feed it) it destroys trust, and leads to a stressed and dead monitor. Don't mean to sound negative but it happens a lot, so you can understand my concern. I hope you don't feed him only mice!

  • @cluck41 , This is why is took me over 2 months to create this video. the monitor is never out when i'd like him to be. I agree with you, I would normally not disturb the animal while in its hide. thats the safe zone and should stay as such. I do also have other videos of it eating, shrimp, mealworms and etc...He also eats ground turkey and other things. But those are boring to watch and I dont film those. No need for concern, the only thing wrong is the lack of an arboreal environment.

  • @iLLz32 I see. If you need some help getting him more used to humans, try watching MDFmonitor's (that's his username on youtube) videos. He has documented his formation of a bond between a nile monitor that is absolutely amazing. You may want to consider adding more cover for the lizard, if it feels more secure it won't be as timid. Buy corkbark tubes and half tubes (google corkbark for sale and your location).

  • @cluck41 , I have been a long time subsciber of his. Im very aware of his methods. This video is not intended by any means to show bonding of the animal. Soley the enclosure and how I clean it. I have videos of me handling Avocado, aside from the occassional defecation he is mellow and does not run away. Mangroves are notorious for defecating on their owners, especially males. Although im sincerely hoping mine is a female. Check your inbox.

  • Nice video and nice animals!
