Actually, most of the modern folders use glue (CMC) for details. (Kamiya, Lang, Montroll, etc..)

Maybe you could call it "cheating" if you are a total purist.

@Kkomen Actually, Montroll doesn't use any sort of adhesive or sizing. He's kind of the ultimate purist-- doesn't even consider modulars to be origami; you'll notice he hasn't published a single one. And from what I've seen, CMC is generally used as a sizing; glue is still disallowed. The difference is that sizing makes the paper stiff, whereas glue actually bonds different plys together. I guess it's kind of semantic difference, but you should be careful not to give the wrong impression.

Sorry, didn't know that Montroll was the purist kind, since he wrote about wet folding and using glue in one of his books.

And I think there's not a spanish term for "sizing", so I didn't knew, that may have caused a misunderstanding.

@Kkomen There's a lot of books where they say that origami is one piece of paper no cutting no glueing only folding. I'm a purist, if you need glue or MC to keep you model in place don't call it origami call it papercraft

@butchconway I challenge you to name some. Use of MC/glue for wet-folding complex origami is extremely common. It is the norm for purity standards to allow for sizing/glue in complex origami.
