@TheLotusRT Bit weird isn't it. Kimi's car was always going to go to the outside, Alesi should have stayed on the inside. Drivers are always told "go where the car was"
Alesi could have avoided that if he had any champ talent in him wat so ever just laid back driver who takes one decision and statys there even if it means he is going to hit the wall
Really sad, how this legend left F1 like this...I remember he had two options for 2002, but lost both of them because of 'paying drivers'. The most underrated driver, he deserved a WC, not a single victory.
that could have killed Kimi-the nose of Alesi's car missed his cockpit by inches-that would have been the end of what was the most amazing driver I have ever seen.....Alesi is one of the sports gentlemen-too see both of my past hero's crash like this.....miss real f1
@IRAGETooMuch nah, suspension failure on the Sauber. look closely the onboard cam, you will see the left rear wheel (on right of the screen) taking a bizarre angle during the corner.
@ursuss100 Oh right, it looked like the rear wheels locked and there were clouds of smoke following the car (but that was probably the gravel). Yeah, I see it though
@MisteriesOfTheSpace dumb nut... Have you ever had a crash at 200+ kph? You're just shocked, even because it wasn't kimis fault, his rear wheel collapsed if you look close before the car begins to spin you can see it..
If these cars were 2011 IndyCars both drivers could have been incinerated. Safety in Formula One is high tech, now Indy better step it up to todays standands. As for AlcholicAllenRoger comments, well its a matter of time before he craps his liver down the toilet. Imagine having to live around a drunk.
@veo091 Modern IndyCars are actually pretty safe I think. An impact like this would have probably not looked very different if you ask me. I take it you're referring to the Dan Wheldon tragedy. Not the safety of the cars was the problem there, but rather the catch fence/track safety...and the fact that 30 cars are fighting over the same space.
@veo091 You are completly wrong. f1 cars are safe but they are not strong enough to race on the ovals. The designers of the cars say this themselves. Each car is designed differently. The accident that happened to DW was because of him htting the catch fencing even an F1 car would not have been able to save him.
@MetaKnightsKirby@SAINT6291 Well here's how I see it....Alesi is using pretty much 100% of his available friction on the tyres to make the turn. Kimi spins in front of him, and slows dramatically. So much so, that if Alesi continues with his racing line and pace, he will surely hit Kimi. So instead Alesi brakes, thereby devoting his available friction in the forward direction and making him unable to complete the turn. He then gets caught in Kimi's mess, because he has no where else to go.
@KieranRoberts23 ehem, I think it was avoidable too. been repeatedly playin the vedio again nd again. conclusion: Kimis car spun at the curve and slided away from the track into the dirt, if Alesi is not dumb, he shudda thot dat kimis car is sliding to the RIGHT then i must step on the brakes and go LEFT past Kimi.

Alesi is lucky in this accident. At 1:00 we can see the nose of Raikkonen's car could take off the head of Alesi =(
