Hey Mike, how you doing. What is the difference between low profile baitcast reels and a round baitcast reel?

@FreshwaterAngling if the gear ratios are the same, the primary difference is how the contour of the reel fits your hand. Depending on the lure, presentation and rod size different profile reels may be preferable.

@FreshwaterAngling Actually, round baitcasters hold more line and typically have lower gear ratios. You dont see alot of bass anglers use round casters 'cause they dont need the extra line capacity. Those reels fit musky, pike and other big fish angling better since you are going to cast a 3oz bait alot farther than a 1/2oz bait. Or you will use much heavier line on those reels, hence the extra line capacity.
