Abolishing the Electoral College - Cynthia McKinney

I agree that we really should get rid of the electoral college, this has been going on for years. I agree with her.I don`t think that there should be only two parties. I am even more afraid of a one party system.

I remember an interview with Peggy Kane mentioning Cynthia McKinney, how she reversed speech both her and Donald Rumsfield.

Peggy said Cynthia is the only honest person in Washington. I wont comment on what she said came out of Rumsfield's reverse speech.

Anyway, look at what they are doing to Cynthia McKinney's image on google. Sounds like the propaganda machine is hard at work!

She is SO right. The comments from people here who long for a system that is NOT democractic "mob" rule are not indicative of those who wish to see true democracy replace the imperial power that now rules. The idea that the people are easily bought off ignores the fact that politicians - who stand in their place in constructs like the Electoral College or state legislatures - are MORE easily (and, dollar-for-dollar) more cheaply bought.

We have to remember, we do not live in a democracy; we live in a Constitutional Republic. The Electoral College system is a part of the ‘checks and balances’ system…it was designed to put the power in the states and not the people (mob rule) to select the president. Of course, the direct election of Senators has weakened the concept of federalism and so will eliminating the Electoral College. Cynthia, focus on voter fraud!!!

Interesting. Thumbs Up 4 US greens. I'm not a savvy politico by any means but i notice several things regarding voting and democracy. If each voting block choosed to vote independently there would be much less cohesion at fhe Fed. level. Fundamentally this would create hurdles for national unity.

As it should be 50 states, Cynthia McKinney is a crack head. If they do away with the Electoral College then small states will be subjected to the will of large states. We are not a democracy , remember that people.. A democracy is mob rule, the few are subjected to the whims of the many. Politicians will offer free crap to the many and the few will feel the tyranny. just like they changed the way senators were elected in 1913 from being appointed by states to a popular vote.

Oh my God how stupid. The USA government isn't reformable by another way than 'ending the drug war' and they just seem to strung out committing mass murder to stop. @anastasia81472 It's a subliminal indication of all that's wrong with the two party system. It's an artificial chasm that can't hold up on its own. Abolish the Electoral College and there may slightly less concern in splitting the vote. The symbolism is apparent in that no longer will a small split engineered by those in power in a single state, be able to throw the election.
