i'm convinced that by careful research, eventually we'll be able to 'fold' space(time) and travel much faster than light, if we don't destroy ourselves in the process..
as for time travel, i don't really see the point.. it presents a whole new set of difficulties: our entire existence and all of our concepts are based on a mostly linear perception of time. so it's beyond thought and debate. just try to imagine: 'waiting' for the ability to travel time.. it's a catch 22 now isn't it? :D
@bamdadkhan i think the folding space concept has already been proven, and if we can stop killing ourselves just for 5 bloody minutes and give the planet a chance we might make it
@Defstryker time will tell...lol..but what is time and what dimension do we live in, as apparently there are 13 i think parallel universise's.....just a thought..
@sneekylinux As a matter of fact, you can't destroy, nor create energy and pretty much everything has energy in it or is energy. Since you can't create energy, I guess you couldn't shift it in time, too.
Another thing that would have to be given is, that every cell, every part (also energy!) has to be defined in past, present and future. So if it was possible to go into the future, it would also be possible to go into the past, and it would be possible to turn cells in their past state. yeah...

Now back to the energy part: As SpaceDustTeapot described we're always moving forward, if you punch someone, you can not return the transformation of kinetic energy -> positional energy + sound (if something breaks) into sound + positional energy -> kinetic energy, that doesn't work,
Being faster than light doesn't mean you go backwards, it's like with all these highspeed cams, I guess you can travel - whatever - 500 km/s, but the time seems slower for YOU, because you move faster into it but in reallity you´ve just done it loads faster.
If I'd have visited a class for scientific English, I could go ahead and go even more in detail.
I hope my explanation was kind of interesting and plausibel.
...you should notice that I'm very interested in physics :P
@winfr34k me to mate but if Einsteins theory is not correct this would turn everything on its head and we would have to start again,as for being faster than light to help time travel, your missing the concept here as if there is no final speed limit to speed we would have to have a good re-think on everything and everything we have learnt over the last 100 yrs or so in class(and this includes me to tom)is turned on it,s head, but even if it not true it bring up some good conversation....
@sneekylinux If they would invent something like this, it would be cool, definitely, but let's say it like that: I wouldn't hope for it. And as I already mentioned: If they find out, how to bend and "cut" time, they could revolutionize the medical stuff. Like a cream, that makes your heart cells (or so) 20 yrs back, long before you were ill or something.
And please read part 3 again, there is a more specific description on how I think about being faster than light.
My friend told me about this a couple of days ago. I can't believe I found your video in relation to it not meaning that in a negative way

Hmpft, Maybe we should just buy us a DeLorean,, fall on our had while trying to clean the toilet, invent the flux machine thingy and drive 80 mp/h xD

@winfr34k is that before it rusts..lol

@sneekylinux yeah, antiaging for cars.

@bamdadkhan I also consider that as true.

@sneekylinux So, if someone goes back in time, do I also go back in time, or does it create an alternate timeline? ?!
Worfox13 5 months ago
@Worfox13 this is the question, what do u think??
sneekylinux 5 months ago
@sneekylinux I have no freakin' idea. None of them feels "logical" in my view.
Worfox13 5 months ago
we already travel in time were always moveing forward but i doubt that travel from the future to the past is possible
SpaceDustTeapot 5 months ago
@SpaceDustTeapot but what about further into the future ??
sneekylinux 5 months ago
@sneekylinux
I think it isn't possible because it... well, basically you would have to have some special physical requirements which aren't given.
