- I play the jazz piano, and i know how easy it is to manipulate music for whatever setting... ect, these guys are doing all they can do, and its a missionary opportunity. they are mature enough to know not to play this at sacrament, and also the actuall performance of each musician is presented in a respectful manner. if u say the msg is lost, then i say so is christmas and easter.
the message of this hymn is not lost. i think you are narrow minded and have no idea.
1st of all, these guys aren't idiots (i dont know any of them)they all play well, which means they put in the time and practise, that also means, a part of them shines thru their instruments.
Wrong. And furthermore, says who? Where is it written that the hymns are only to be used in a church setting. Suppose one of these audience members decides to learn more about this particular song. She or he might not otherwise learn about the gospel. Since you know so much about the Church, you should also know better than to judge, lest ye yourself be judged in return. I think these performers did a marvelous job with a beautiful song. Bravo!

I know the performer meant well, but this beloved hymn should only be used in a church setting, the message of the hymn is lost in a secular setting.
