  • Beautiful music.........

  • Man, you rocked so much yesterday in Prague :) Next time I have to take one of my friend, he is crazy about guitars and he will love it :)

  • very very COOl ! GOD BLESS !

  • wow, that was extreme. im a player of the actual sitar but i like what i heard here. the beginning anyway

  • Nice vid. What exactly do the drone strings do. Are they simple tuned to certain notes and then plucked etc?

  • i love the sound of that damn thing

  • The perfect Double neck guitar :-) only one neck! :-)

  • is this the rouge?

  • you are a goddamn wizard, man.

  • i´ve seen one of these in an internet-shop for about 500euros, so i think they´re between 450 and 500 if you wanna buy a new one.

  • awesome playing man, could you help me out, i was wondering if the electric sitar is in the same tuning as a standard electric - EADGBE ?

  • i think they are in open tuning. u can see it at the part starting at 0:25 until the end of the song ^^

  • Yeah im wondering how the tuning is too. Do you just tune your regular strings or how does it work?

  • I think they are tuned the same, just have a sitar sound!

  • You can tune it however you want, he is in some kind of open tuning but it is arranged like a normal 6 string guitar so you can just tune it normal and it will just be a guitar that sounds like a sitar

  • i wanna hear one of these through a distortion pedal!

  • haha, thats a badass tune right there! ;) anyone who knows how much one of these costs?

  • about 350

  • great sound rob : ) rhscheryl nyc

  • absolutly love it

  • the drone strings are not meant to be plucked - they just resonate when excited by a common frequency.

...but it sounds kinda cool anyway.

it's just that the six string part gets real academic when he's doing so.

  • cool....I gotta get me one o dem...

  • Yes please share how you tune everything, I would assume your using an open or drop tuning?

  • makes me want to blow chunks at myself...

  • Sick Intro....Sick Tune.

    5*****

  • Amazing!, kick ass :). Happy Holidays to you...rock on.

  • dude, that was awesome!

  • Very unique sound!

I've never seen one of those...Love it! Keep posting, and Keep Smiling!!

  • That was awesome, I can't afford one of those, but I'm thinking of fitting something to the pickguard that will clip the strings so i can get some sort of sound like that

  • He really spent time to explore the unique properties of this instrument and the results are terrific. Thank you and give us more, please.

  • I love this song. When mine comes I am going to learn this! This is so cool. I CAN'T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD!!

  • Thanks! Good luck and have fun with it. Look forward to hearing you play!

  • awesome!

    How is this monster tuned?

  • Fuckin sick!!! (trust me, its a compliment)

  • You really get the most out of this instrument.

You have convinced me to buy one and I just got done ordering one. But, listening and watching I realize I'm not going to sound as good as this!!!!!

  • Wonderful stuff, props to the player!

To be balanced... nothing beats traditional East Indian Sitar. On one side of the coin, this can be considered "derivative" as some listeners are pointing out. However, it's fresh, and different. Sure, there are no microtones as in traditional Sitar music, but don't take away the performance nor the composition of this cut.

  • Thanks!

  • Observation: hammering the notes without picking reduces the vibration needed from the bridge which give this "electric sitar" a sitar like quality. Never heard this piece, but the performer missing the boat on using this model for a "sitar" like tone if that is what he intended.

  • Thanks for the comment! I was going for a pull off bass line with my left hand, so I can fingerpick a melody with the harp/sympathetic strings with my right. The electric sitar guitar is very versatile. So I don't just go for the sitar style for every song I write.

  • All of you are retarded. This is for all sakes and purposes a guitar. It has six strings with 21 frets, organized chromatically according to the western 12 tone scale. Those strings are to be played in the same manner as any other electric guitar. The only difference is the addition of a special type of bridge to cause the strings to buzz, similar to a REAL sitar, and the addition of 12 drone/sympathy strings that can also be played in the manner shown here. THIS IS A GUITAR.

  • As I said, the frets are laid out with 12 tones to a scale. Sitars don't have set scales, but most of them, when played chromatically have 14 or 15 I believe, and they are divided VERY differently from the DO RE ME SO FA LA TI DO that we know. Sitars require an extremely different form of technique to play them, any guitarist could pick this up and play a harmonic minor scale and sound like an Arabian Knight in about five minutes.

As far as this piece goes, very well executed,

    5 stars.

  • do re mi fa sol la si do

    :)

  • whatever :p

  • Thanks for the comments! Yes this is a guitar inspired by the sitar...I think it is a very innovative, versatile guitar because of the sitar style buzz bridge and sympathetic strings that I use as a harp instead of drone strings. I think it is a crazy little cousin of a sitar and harp guitar! By all means not a traditional sitar but a very cool electric guitar with a sitar concept! Thanks again for the posts! :)

  • Is it tuned the same as a guitar?

  • yeah, but there are 14 drone strings that give it that sitar tone.

  • your melodies are incredible

is it an original Silvertone Vincent Bell guitar/sitar or a luthier made it for you?

  • Kharaj Pancham sitars have 7 main stirngs, whereas Ghandar Pancham sitars usually have only 6.

  • that is wild man!!

  • that is so KooL... the harp section's strings are really close together... the sound is just great...

  • yhea, either 6 or 12...

  • fascinating melody.

  • nah most have 6 and 12 drone strings

  • Five playing, three drone, and 13 sympathetic. The 13 sympathetic are not usually played, they just resonate.

  • O god... some of you are just stupid ass hell... Its and electric sitar. Its simulates the sound of a sitar so people who are more confident in there guitar playing can have something that replicates that great sitar sound. Sitars are such hard instruments to play that this is a wonderful idea.

  • exactly, dude

haha i can believe there's actually an argument going on about whether this is a sitar or a guitar

i guess that goes to show how good of a job rogue did with this beast

  • what is your guitar tuned too?

  • Indeed, nice-ass sitar dude, How much did that skin u??

  • yeah i need to get me one of these

  • Nice guitar and song ! ...you rock !

  • It isn't a guitar. It's a sitar. There's a big difference.

  • Actually, it's a sitar guitar, with respectable differences and similarities to both instruments.

  • Its a guitar with an arranged pickups... HUGE DIFFERENCE! The sitar is a different scale, different strings, and different DIFFERENT playing...

  • I've read about this instrument. Look up the Danelectro Coral Sitar. The distinguishing factor is the presence of drone strings located elsewhere on the body and a sloped bridge to alter the sustain. This class of instrument was an attempt at westernizing the sitar, and forming an incarnation that a guitarist could easily play. No, it is not a sitar. However, by all rights, it's not really a guitar either.

  • It's a fucking sirat

  • nice sound there 8)

  • Bravo!!! Wonderful guitar!
