why do belinda and kevin strum their jazzmasters with their tremolo i have the same guitar as them tried it.....but it seems pointless and strumming with it is odd hmmmm maybe they only know how to work it
@09prizefighter09 They don't.They strum with plecs. But they keep the temolo arm in their hands to make the pitch constantly waver (Daniel is doing the same with the Bigsby trem on his guitar in this video if you notice). It's one of several things employed to get that mbv guitar sound.
MBV are sacred to me, but i'll let you off with this rendition..pretty much there save for a bit more bass..props aplenty Mr Earwicker.. could you possibly do "you never should" or "realise" please?
HOLY SHIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT u have taken my awe to a whole new level of explosion...i aaaalways play this to myself when im alone, drunk and full of bliss after a magical time...how did u do the high "wharrnng whaaarrng" bits
what am i to do
youre breaking my heart and my guitar..in too good a way!!!!
1. Are you a soprano or did someone else do the vocals? Sounds like Belinda anyway. :)
2. How does the Bigsby work out for the Kevin Shields whammy technique? I've been thinking of adding one to my Gretsch Jet for that very purpose but I've never actually tried playing like that w/ a Bigsby. Seems like it would be more comfortable than the Jazzmaster whammy bar, but maybe not.
holy fuck, nowhere near as heavy as the original but mad props dude, i never would have even tried this song. Seems like a fuck ton of work though with all the layering and what not in pro tools.
I wouldn't have thought to put Daniel Earwicker and My Bloody Valentine in the same sentence; now I'm not so sad I didn't get a chance to go to the Roundhouse gig.
Reverse reverb, same as How Soon Is Now. Not actual slide guitar but just sliding a note up and down with my finger. Then reverse that, re-record it with a long dense reverb, then reverse it again. There's also some delay on the strumming tracks, but no other effects involved.
I think he means reversing the track and then adding reverb to the reverse. Then when you flip it back to the right way round the reverb comes before ..... rather than after.... just like How Soon Is Now....check out the video he made for that .... he explains what he did with text on the video...
aahhh u need to mix better

Nice. You really nailed it... 2 questions:

Great work - esp the drumming. It's a bit overcompressed - but I think you can fix it.

Sleep Like a pillow (where) She wont care Anyway (where)
Soft As a pillow Touch her there Where she wont dare

Speak Shes not sc(ared) Soft like theres silk Everywhere

Nice to finally see your face in the video.
I loved all the ones in the past where you casually shot very little or nothing of you.
Kind of makes it artistic and mysterious.
If you don't mind me asking, what are the chords and what placement on the capo on "The World Is Waiting"? Great stuff.

The wild and crazy screaming guitar sounds between verses -- how is that sound made? Is there a slide involved?
MatthewPA1972 3 years ago
Reverse reverb, same as How Soon Is Now. Not actual slide guitar but just sliding a note up and down with my finger. Then reverse that, re-record it with a long dense reverb, then reverse it again. There's also some delay on the strumming tracks, but no other effects involved.
danielearwicker 3 years ago
Where does the "reverse reverb" come from? A patch on your effects unit?
MatthewPA1972 3 years ago
I think he means reversing the track and then adding reverb to the reverse. Then when you flip it back to the right way round the reverb comes before ..... rather than after.... just like How Soon Is Now....check out the video he made for that .... he explains what he did with text on the video...
