  • Dear tempo nazis,

    Nobody Cares!

  • "You are singing an invitation to Spring-- not defying it to come!"

  • the floor is the wrong color

  • it's too fast...

  • I suppose you IDIOTS could do better???!!! I don't see your posts or performances on YT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pianofan...Music 101 is all the formal training in music history I've ever received. But even I know that the romantic period was all about emotional expression and passion. If Mendelssohn was trying to avoid those, he composed the wrong piece.

  • Your left opaques your right. Soften it up.

  • This is one of the best and beautiful interpretations ever. We have three generations of family in our home that all love it! This piece is usually played too slow and sickeningly sweet. This version is perfect - very musically interesting and holds your attention. Well done Master. With much respect and admiration.

  • Way too fast old man

  • Just playing a piece is nothing, the audience can tell.

If you add feeling to it, the audience will feel and hear it. It's better than just playing it blandly.

  • @Skull12Candy

I am agreed that the old man has not depicted the song. His strong emphasis on right hand chords does not make his play better off. In spring plants blossom and people walk in green field joyfully. This scene and feeling should be expressed.

  • Hey guys, I think this gentleman is a terrific pianist. This video may have just accelerated his speed, lol!

If is not speeded up can you imagine an old gentleman can paly so nice! Be nice!

  • ... Oh come on... playing music is not a sport... it's feeling... playing seems just sport and technique in this video... :(

  • blank....

  • If someone has ever listened to Magaloff.

    the divine Magaloff .

i think here it's not bright enough

  • he just zips through it. no feeling or anything at all.

it sounds like a cheesy ringtone.

  • Hey, it's Archie Bunker! Give him a break!

  • I'd give him a break but then that's treating him like a baby.

Maybe a little criticism will help him.

  • ya but you gotta admit he looks a little like archie bunker from this angle LOL

  • he does XDDDD

  • No expression, feeling or style.... How empty and desolate... No Spring feeling of the Spring SOng... How sad....

  • There are no Emotion and no Charakter. He only hit the piano .

  • There's more than sheet music that meets the eye when tackling The Spring Song and the other songs w/o words, which are really VEEERY difficult to play, if you don't want to sound like this gentleman here giving us a lumberjacks Spring Song, humming along as he's chopping firewood with his chainsaw. Boy oh boy, ...It's like people who speak the most perfect accent without the slightest english, so here's the perfect technique without the slightest music and soul. Woaaah, MERCY. Sorry buddy.

  • I don't like it. It's REALLY too fast. But he plays really good piano

  • Man He's AWESOME

  • Needs rubato but well done! :-)

  • i agree

  • This is a very nice technical performance. The performance lacks the lyric quality (these are Songs Without Words after all). The tempo is a bit too fast, much of the piece's charm is lost in the tempo.

  • wow

  • that was great! way bette rthan the crappy simple version that little 8 year old girl in teh pink played, im still learing this peice, its complicated and a pain in teh ass to learn, it if it ends up like thsi i say its well worth it!

  • i love it! it was played well... the tempo was just alright! please upload more of his concerts etc...

  • Prefer a slower version although we can't say this one is not good ^^

    Very well played !

  • Brilliant!

  • TOO FAST

    otherwise GREAT

  • Absolutely breathtaking

  • Mr. Mitsuru NAGAI was born in Osaka in 1934. He studied piano at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. After his graduation, he taught piano at the Musashino Academia Musicae for 33 years. In 1994, he ended his music career to dedicate his life to church activities. After silence of more than 30 years, he once again started playing the piano. The performance of the old piano man reveals the genuine aspect of each masterpiece. His performance and music comfort our souls.

  • who do u know all this??

    cousin, dad , mom??
