the xm8 is not german, its the american copy of the german g36. i would not have included it here because it never got being a prototype meaning it was not great.
@MrShawzyxx As far as I know the SA80 is not very reliable compared to the others. And by the way you would have to make it German as well. Because originally it was made by the RSAF (which doesn't exist anymore) but it was so unreliable that H&K was asked to completely overhaul it.

Talking about that gun is rather boring almost everyone agrees its cheap, reliable and easy to use, but certainly not the best gun out there.
personally if i had a lot of money i would buy an ACR or a SCAR. scars are pretty accurate and super light. most regular folk can only afford an AK system or an AR15 system. the advantages that the ak used to have over AR15/M16 are mostly gone. ARs have a button to push jams out, and hardly jam compared to what they used to. give me a break, how hard is it to spray some oil down a barrel and push a cleaning rod. it only takes 5 to 15 min. the real advantage of aks are they fire in water or sand

I own a automatic Ak not gonna say where I got it but paid $300 new out of the box from a kid 9yrs ago that didnt know what he had but enough with that story.And I also got an M1A SOCAM 16. Dont start your Chinese whispers, myths about AK, if you ment AK-47, then yes, accuracy is not that amazing, but still, I can hit targets easly with it 150-200 meters away. For longer range, squad always have long range marksman operative with SVD.

@overthrow12345 the m4 and m14 are not to be compared.... they are different weapons for different purposes. you wouldnt see an m14 used as a tactical carbine would you? m4 is a versatile carbine for quick acquisition and suppression, and m14 is a battle rifle (if im not mistaken).

You wouldn't use an M4 for suppression, it doesn't have the rate of fire/range/power. SAW / 240 are pretty much the best the military has for ground troops. The M4 is nice because it's light and small, has very little recoil. It has too many issues when it gets wet / dirty. You can't always tape the end of the muzzle up like they do in that M4 promo video. M14 is still an awesome close range weapon, but can be used as a sniper rifle. It has a lot more stopping power and range
@overthrow12345 of course you wouldn't use an m4 at a support weapon, its a fast reaction weapon, for mobility and utility. you dont need rate of fire to keep heads down, just a good pace semi auto fire. Its what id call a Tactical Response weapon, something that you can react to sudden situations to give you support (saw/M14) a chance to get a good position.
you dont need to tape the barrel, all you need to do is tilt the gun open the bolt and you're good to go.

All I have to say is that on future weapons Mack tested the Magpul Masada (now Buschmaster ACR) -YES A COD WEAPON WHO CARES- is the best rifle in production to date. it can be fired after being dumped in water/dirt, needs minimal cleaning and can be converted to fire both 5.45 and 7.62 rounds in several seconds (the term "acr" Adaptive Combat Rifle). The XM8 never saw combat and is retired so that gun should be excluded. AICW (AUS) explosive round and mk 110 (USA) are also missing from this list

Where's the L85A2? Had the honour of firing a few mags with this and the M4/M16/and some fun with an L86A2. The L85 blew the M's out of the water. Got a great grouping with it. L86 was a blast too! Then i was given an M14... less said about that ugly jumpy bastard the better.

Ak is still has some of the best weapons in their stock but this one is not any longer among those.

@FelixDzerzhinsky the ak74, definently a contender, but the old stamped ak47, that had it's run but both the ak74 and ar15 platform weapons are more accurate, more controllable on full auto fire, and their rounds the 5.45 and 5.56 are superior to the 7.62x39 in terms of ballistics

Dont start your Chinese whispers, myths about AK, if you ment AK-47, then yes, accuracy is not that amazing, but still, I can hit targets easly with it 150-200 meters away. For longer range, squad always have long range marksman operative with SVD.

besides if you need to not rely on maintaining a gun, just get a piston driven AR15 (AR15 is civilian version of M4 but the name AR15 extends to all different varriations of the M4)
and compare the reload and troubleshoot time of an AR15 under stress vs an AK and the AR will always come out on top

@overthrow12345 the m4 and m14 are not to be compared.... they are different weapons for different purposes. you wouldnt see an m14 used as a tactical carbine would you? m4 is a versatile carbine for quick acquisition and suppression, and m14 is a battle rifle (if im not mistaken).
ive mostly only heard soldiers loving the M4 and its variants, and stupid cod fan boys who read one wiki page saying it sucks.

You wouldn't use an M4 for suppression, it doesn't have the rate of fire/range/power. SAW / 240 are pretty much the best the military has for ground troops. The M4 is nice because it's light and small, has very little recoil. It has too many issues when it gets wet / dirty. You can't always tape the end of the muzzle up like they do in that M4 promo video. M14 is still an awesome close range weapon, but can be used as a sniper rifle. It has a lot more stopping power and range

@overthrow12345 of course you wouldn't use an m4 at a support weapon, its a fast reaction weapon, for mobility and utility. you dont need rate of fire to keep heads down, just a good pace semi auto fire. Its what id call a Tactical Response weapon, something that you can react to sudden situations to give you support (saw/M14) a chance to get a good position.
you dont need to tape the barrel, all you need to do is tilt the gun open the bolt and you're good to go.

All I have to say is that on future weapons Mack tested the Magpul Masada (now Buschmaster ACR) -YES A COD WEAPON WHO CARES- is the best rifle in production to date. it can be fired after being dumped in water/dirt, needs minimal cleaning and can be converted to fire both 5.45 and 7.62 rounds in several seconds (the term "acr" Adaptive Combat Rifle). The XM8 never saw combat and is retired so that gun should be excluded. AICW (AUS) explosive round and mk 110 (USA) are also missing from this list

@JacktheJackRabbit The UK has twice the amount of soldiers in Afghanistan than Germany. Funny how Germany initially blocked the war along with France and Russia and are now participating in it??? Furthermore I never said Germany makes bad guns - they make great ones - but nobody really uses the HK. IMO, BAe/UK has made a better contribution to military kit. Germany has contributed, but overall is no better than France, UK or Belgium.

what about the AS Val? the 9x39mm Sp-6 round can penetrate 2mm of steel at 500m or can penetrate 8mm of steel at 100m and still kill someone behind that layer of steel. above that it has an integrated suppressor, and can basically kill basically anything, even someone with 30 layers of kevlar at 200m ;), Spetsnaz ftw.

Sorry, but M416 number 1? And when has the XM8 ever been used in modern combat? IMO, the L85A2 should be in there somewhere as well as the M16. These weapons have been used in tough climates and proven to work. And in reply to @hannesbannes Germany plays a very minor role in Afghanistan and lost two world wars so your "how to use them comment" is unfounded.

@Adam619mw123 ok, sorry, i ment to say you're 13...and that's a AK 74 over the AK 47 due to the 74's lighter recoil that allows quicker follow up shots, better accuarcy and lighter ammo that allows one to carry more bang per pound of gear. 300rds of 5.45mm is a lot lighter than 300 rds of 7.62x39, but that's something you wouldn't know anything about.

In the mid 1970's they adopted the smaller 5.45mm over the 7.62x39 round and the AK 74 platform after seeing the terminal performance of the smaller faster 5.56 mm bullet on the NVA troops in Vietnam.
The Tula factory produced the rifle, M Kalashnikov designed it...

Where's the L85A2? Had the honour of firing a few mags with this and the M4/M16/and some fun with an L86A2. The L85 blew the M's out of the water. Got a great grouping with it. L86 was a blast too! Then i was given an M14... less said about that ugly jumpy bastard the better.

@FPSrUSSRia I belive you're reffering to the L85A1. Yeah that did jam a heck of a lot. But then a company called H&K (Which you might of heard of) Fixed the issues. The A2's are now extremely reliable. Moreso than an M-4, As for the M16 i dont need to mention how unreliable they are. The L85 is also far more accurate then both of those rifles and felt far better balanced so i don't really understand how you can claim it to be a crap rifle.Its easily one of the best assault systems in the world.

How is the HK416 better as the FN SCAR & XM8 if it lost the US-Trials? The REC-7 & SCAR does have more Firepower than HK416. The ACR isn't bad, the G36 & M4 are outdated.

The Ak47 is to heavy is not very accurate at long range only got a rate of fire of 600/min its recoil is hard so its difficult to get the weapon back on target quickly. Ak is still has some of the best weapons in their stock but this one is not any longer among those.
