This has gotta be the most exciting wrestlemania of all time. The match itself wasn't the best, but the sheer excitement was enough. Back when wrestling was awesome.
And to think, somewhere in that crowd in the Skydome that night, a teenager named Adam Copeland was watching Hogan and the Warrior do battle, hoping one day to make his own moment at Wrestlemania. 21 years later, he finished one of the all-time great careers in pro wrestling.
How can you NOT Like this awesome Intro? The mood was so awesome, music perfect and the Announcement of Gorilla and Ventura just eeeeeeeeeeppppiiiiiiiiiicccccccccccc. Ultimate Chellange.... i wish the belts would mean that much again.... oh well xD
the WWF didnt groom the warrior to carry the company properly.
wrestlemania 6 was originally to be hogan vs zues. vince saw that zues was not a draw, then changed it to the warrior only 3 months before wrestlemania.
shoulda polished the warrior's look earlier then he did and showed him how to talk ( like the warrior learned to do after he lost the belt ). and shoulda showed him how to wrestle abit more. maybe a sidewalk slam, powerslam, shoulderbreaker, backbreaker etc. he got a halfassed push

now this is the theme I remember.. I know when they put Wrestlemania on DVD they re-did the music for the early Wrestlemania's which sucked. which Wrestlemania did they start to use this intro? was it WM 3 or 4? I don't recall the first 2 Wrestlemanias useing this music,..
@kimv020887 Well he did make an appearence at WM 20 because he was inducted into the WWE hall of fame the night before but yeah this was Jesse's final Mania as a Color Commentator
Nah, nah, nah. Wrestling ruled like no other time when Hogan and Warrior wrestled, 80s and early 90s. The Attitude era was always second banana to it. the only awesome thing that came from it was Austin.
Says something when a guy like myself who hasn't watched wrestling in 10-15 years still remembers this intro enough to come looking for it. Thanks for putting it up.
@GrassValleyGreg There was a mixing error during the intro on the original broadcast. Howard Finkel was counting down in the ring until the moment they were live on PPV. Midway through Vince's monologue, Fink says "15 SECONDS! EVERYONE ON YOUR FEET!" and proceeds to count down from 10 with the crowd. It was actually pretty cool hearing that perfectly in sync with the WM Theme's crescendo.
Nice. I figured it was something the folks at home weren't supposed to hear, but I think it's cooler myself. Makes one want to be there a little more.
The best Wrestlemania I ever saw. So many great matches in one event. The main event completely lived up to its hype (they don't always). There were other great matches. Overall I never remember a better Wrestlemania. As a 14 year old kid I was impressed. Now looking back as an adult I still am. They should do the little ring carts every Wrestlemania.
Those were the days, when things were simpler, but better. Epic Vince intros, Monsoon and Jesse Ventura commentating, the classic Wrestlemania theme...nothing beats that era of wrestling.
Vince couldn't do this again if he tried or made a deal with the devil, hyping a John Cena match like he did with Hogan and Warrior, two entirely different wavelengths.
@MrNotbadyou : I've been thinking about it and there is a 'small' possibility. Remember, Hogan V Andre at WMIII was billed with Hogan as the irresistible force and Andre being the immovable object. Hogan had dominated the WWF for 3 years and was the new sensation. Andre was the long established icon and phenom of professional wrestling with a 15 year undefeated streak (or as was billed because Andre had lost matches before this). Fast forward to the present......
Cont: John Cena has dominated WWE for the past 5 years. Like Hogan was then, Cena is the people's champion, the face of World Wrestling Entertainment and in a lot of ways an irresistible force. On the other hand, The Undertaker is the current phenom and has been the veteran mainstay with a 18-year undefeated streak at Wrestlemania and as far at that event is concerned he has been the immovable object. It is 'possible' that WWE could attempt to create a mega-match at WM27.....
Finish: John Cena VS. The Undertaker. At first glance this match would not really get people excited, but I think that WWE has a very realistic shot at creating a Hogan/Andre type event with Cena/Taker 'IF' ( and that is a epic IF) it is done 'PROPERLY'. One idea that I have is that Cena can continue to cause disruption for Nexus and others for the next several months. Finally, it is decided by the RAW GM that if Cena wants back in to WWE he has to defeat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
@D2Kprime Cena is also the main reason why people who remember this era gave up with wwE years ago. Vince stopped giving a shit about the product it's just glossy production values now with no soul or magic. Cena is for 5 year olds. Everybody got into Hogan and Warrior because it was fun and Vince could tell a story. They don't build anything up anymore and even if they do you can hear a pin drop at most shows.
@D2Kprime wowww you r a True Fruit Loop troop guy for life huh hows that going for you u like those lil kids askin you ?s The Rock will Beat him Down ina month's time an when he does i want you n your Fruit Loop Troop too make an youtube vid of yous Crying like lil Fruity bitches that yous All R
@D2Kprime Except that the fan-base is substantially more savvy about the mechanics of the product now than they were in 1987. Unlike Hogan at the time, Cena has nothing to prove to solidify his position as "the champion" and face of the industry. Also, Andre was in the twilight of his career but still presented a novel threat in a way Bundy (at WM2) or challengers like Kamala, Studd, Piper, etc. did not.
Plus, if Cena beat the Undertaker, fans would crap all over it mercilessly.
@MrBigShotXXL : I don't agree with that at all. The current WWE fanbase is not in any way, shape, or form savvy as to what WORKS in professional wrestling. The current fan base (post-Attitude era fans) are mostly children that have been basically been brainwashed into think the current product is what professional wrestling is supposed to be about.
And you COMPLETELY missed the whole point on Cena/Taker. I didn't say anything about a title. This is about passing the torch and the irresistible force(Cena/Hogan) meeting the irremovable object (Andre/Taker). Hogan had to do something that was booked as being impossible, and that is being the first to pin Andre The Giant in 15 years. Losing the title was one of many costs Hogan had going in. Likewise for Cena, defeating the Undertaker at Wrestlemania is also booked as being impossible.
In case you haven't noticed, the Undertaker is in the twilight of HIS career and his WM streak is about as novel a threat there is. When you have names like, Snuka, Snake, Gonzalaz, Bundy, Sid, Kane(2), Bossman, HHH, Flair, Orton, Henry, Batista, Edge, and HBK(2) on the list, it's safe to say that it's the most formidable streak there is in the business. Since John Cena got his job back it's a moot point now, but Cena/Taker would have been very believable and successful.
@D2Kprime I think you misunderstood: The fan-base is not "mostly kids;" it's kids, the parents who bring them to the shows and the older, die-hard, internet-savvy fans. You know, the ones that think it's hilarious to jeer smarky remarks. (These are the same fans who think they know the mechanics of a "good match" but would classify Hogan/Andre a dud because there weren't any planchas...)
And I got your point, but there is no torch for Undertaker to pass to Cena; Cena is fully established.
@MrBigShotXXL : My mother took me to a lot of shows and event she had absolutely not interest in because that is want parents do for their kids. Just because they are their doesn't mean they are enjoying it. or not enjoying it. We know the kids are. The so-called "die-hard, savvy fans" you speak of the were fans since before and during the Federation have for the most part stopped watching WWE altogether.
Cont: As far as Cena being established, to whom? Cena is the face of WWE by 'default' Austin, Rock, Hogan. HBK, Y2J, HHH, Foley, Goldberg, Lesnar, Angle, RVD, Batista, Flair, and others whom carried WWE in the early 2000s have all gone onto do bigger and better things. You really think John Cena would be what he is now if those guys were still there. The only main event match Cena has had that meant anything was at WM22 against HHH. That's it. By that time HHH had put it in cruise control.
Finish: The only reason why Cena holds top spot in the company is because HHH doesn't WANT it anymore because he's got a family to take care of now. John Cena in comparison to all the champions before him (and through no fault of his own) has not ONE MATCH that people can hang in the "GOAT" category. A match with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania automatically puts you in that category. Until have has a match of that caliber, we will NEVER be truly over with the pre-PG era crowd.
yea, watching Cena wrestle is teeth cringing, even more comical than Hogan (Hogan IMO was underrated, esp his psychology). Cena cannot do anything really except except to go through the motions, be a marketing hype, who has the look. He has yet to have that big moment, that memorable match, and likely doesn't have the capability to. All those other guys were more than able to grind out a good match or moment regardless of the situation.
@at1212b : Yeah. Cena matches are very canned and predictable. Even more-so than Hogan was. At least with Hogan he would adapt more to what his opponent was doing. Of course, watching Hogan wrestling in Japan in comparison to America is night and day. He is was amazing over there. I mean HIGH technical skill. I'm sure Cena has the ability, but once you get the tag of 'franchise' you get a pass on having a respectable work-rate and all that matters is if the fans cheer you.
just watched this and it brought back good memories of when wrestling was good and the wrestlers were really talented. so i decided to watch a bit of the new world wrestling entertainment.....WHAT A HEAP OF SHITE!
@guy2008rules yep im with u on that im a die hard WWF fan and i stopped watching wwf in 98 but came but for the Attitude era cause it was sick but since the Attitude era went so did i
just got goosebumps watching this again, wrestling is terrible now, why buy these stupid ppv's now when they are just going to have the rematch on Raw the next night, bring back jobbers so these ppv's are worth a damn
how can u not get pumped by this intro.....wwe is you read this cut back on the number of payper views and start making new stars or ufc is gonna bury u
I remember watching this on PPV when i was 4, SO FKN AWESOME! I Swear to god... and the newly introduced Wrestlemania theme added so much excitement to the whole event, as soon as u heard that theme u knew it was time for wrestlemania... and they should of kept that theme or bring it back... it's like the Superbowl NFL theme, it has never changed and u know what it is as soon as u hear it... that wrestlemania theme was so bad ass.
You just don't get an intro like this anymore, do you? People who say the 90's suck... Why don't you suck on my 90" slong because where I come from, the 90's RULED and set a new standard everywhere you look today.
Hulk is way better than the warrior thank god he beat him in NWO at halloween havoc the warrior never wrestles even he always just disappears it's stupid.
Definatly the most classic, and memorable intro music ever... The WrestleMania X-XIV comes in a close second... And who could forget the SummerSlam and Royal Rumble intro music... They used this song too when they advertised Fanfest at Wrestlemania X
When did the "Classic WrestleMania Theme" start? Was it WM IV? V? VI even? I'm sure most of you agree that it's better than the Linda McMahon/WrestleMania theme :)
Wow...thanks Beltmark; I never knew that (WM VII was my "first" and I still haven't seen the earlier ones yet). That Classic theme made it appear that all the WMs used it....they should bring it back nevertheless :)
@Beltmark Me to, my man! 3-Stacked card and the end of the Rock N Wrestling Era. 5-Solid main event(Hogan's best match IMO) and a dope undercard. 6-Another great undercard and the best booked World Championship match in WM history. This also started a new era for the WWF.
They might have used it on episodes of Superstars and Wrestling Challenge leading up to WMIX during the 'Update' segments where they were going over the card, I cant remember, but at the actual event itself they never used that music.
The intro had really lame music and at the start of the card they had that Roman music when Ceasar and all the animals came out.
@samiullahmir This theme was great. This theme is pro wrestling's answer to the Hockey Night In Canada theme. They need to bring it back, maybe add lyrics to it.
I was at this Wrestlemania i was coincidentally only 6. It was truly amazing, I remember when Hogan got pinned I started to cry (even tho I also liked Warrior). I think most people cheered when Warrior won.
Then I was there for Wrestlemania 18 for Rock vs. Hogan and being older I was more emotionally into the match, it was truly amazing. As they say Toronto has the best wrestling fans in the world (tied with New York City).
Ventura's words during this Intro are always an iconic quote I always associate with Wrestlemania.
"I've been to the Superbowl. I've been to the World Series. I've even been to the Rolling Stones!!! But there is one event which surpasses them all and that's Wrestlemania!"
Folks, you can't believe how much I miss the good old wrestling days. I stopped watching wrestling a couple of years ago since there are no real characters there anymore. Only few people with charisma. Yes, there may be more athletism, yes, their bodies may look even more well defined, but where are the guys with charisma like Hogan, Warrior, Flair? Gone.
i cant believe wm 25 sucked comared to wm 6. at least i thought that 25th would be pretty darn good - but edge vs cena vs show is very lame because we have seen cena vs edge so many times and edge sucks as well as big slow being boring. wm 6 was hogan vs warrior - and 25th is boring people like edge and show lol.
i wish wcw would have won the war and wwf gone out of business. at least we would still have goldberg, ddp, flair, and the giant
Me and my friends all cheered when Vince said IT'S WRESTLEMANIAAAAAAAAA when we originally watched this in elementary school. The hype was unbelievable, it was like our event of the year.
I truly wish that WWE would bring this WrestleMania theme back (instead of tying to be hip and "current" w/ some hard rock nonsense). The music really helped establish the point of WrestleMania being a major deal.
i think HHH should turn heel once again. sure he can be good as a face, but for only so long! i think since everyone, fans, former wrestlers like steiner, get tired of HHH because he is married to vinces daughter - thus he should spend the rest of his WWE career as heel.
anyone think he will ever go to TNA to work, perhaps in his last year of work? LOL. after all vinces real son - shane went to WCW in 2001
hhh has put over people: he put over benoit at mania 20, he put over batista three times in 2005, he put over cena at mania 22, he put over orton and mania 24
Yep and Orton and Batista are established stars now. Time to make some new ones because everyone is sick of hhh, Orton, Batista and Cena facing each other constantly on Raw. If somebody had told me back in 1998 that the best match at wrestlemania 25 would be michaels v undertaker my response would have been "wow they really screwed up at creating new stars somewhere along the line". They need to do something inventive, quickly.
@optimus57 Well it's the 20th anniversary of this WM and WM26 looks pretty stacked. I've always considered Batista v. Cena the 2000's version of the Ultimate Challenge and in a couple weeks we're getting part 2.
Batista vs Cena the rematch of the Ultimate Challenge? It would be big if they hadn't fought each other on numerous occasions over the years. Another difference is that Hogan and Warrior were hugely over because the fans actually loved them. Cena is apparently "over" because WWE thinks the fans love him (i'e' little kids), and Batista is Vince's joke of a modern day Ultimate Warrior.
Ah Batista and Cena haven't fought numerous occasions. Summerslam 08', that's it really. What are the other times, them being the final two people in the 05' Royal Rumble and the mini squash match at this year's Elimination Chamber? So to me this is still epic. Plus it seems like I gotta educate you on what being over is. When a star is even booed, they're still over. Let's not forget merchandise sales as-well. You and ya circle of internet buddies don't count.
This has gotta be the most exciting wrestlemania of all time. The match itself wasn't the best, but the sheer excitement was enough. Back when wrestling was awesome.

D2Kprime 1 year ago
@D2Kprime I think you misunderstood: The fan-base is not "mostly kids;" it's kids, the parents who bring them to the shows and the older, die-hard, internet-savvy fans. You know, the ones that think it's hilarious to jeer smarky remarks. (These are the same fans who think they know the mechanics of a "good match" but would classify Hogan/Andre a dud because there weren't any planchas...)
And I got your point, but there is no torch for Undertaker to pass to Cena; Cena is fully established.
MrBigShotXXL 1 year ago
@MrBigShotXXL : My mother took me to a lot of shows and event she had absolutely not interest in because that is want parents do for their kids. Just because they are their doesn't mean they are enjoying it. or not enjoying it. We know the kids are. The so-called "die-hard, savvy fans" you speak of the were fans since before and during the Federation have for the most part stopped watching WWE altogether.
D2Kprime 1 year ago
Cont: As far as Cena being established, to whom? Cena is the face of WWE by 'default' Austin, Rock, Hogan. HBK, Y2J, HHH, Foley, Goldberg, Lesnar, Angle, RVD, Batista, Flair, and others whom carried WWE in the early 2000s have all gone onto do bigger and better things. You really think John Cena would be what he is now if those guys were still there. The only main event match Cena has had that meant anything was at WM22 against HHH. That's it. By that time HHH had put it in cruise control.
D2Kprime 1 year ago
Finish: The only reason why Cena holds top spot in the company is because HHH doesn't WANT it anymore because he's got a family to take care of now. John Cena in comparison to all the champions before him (and through no fault of his own) has not ONE MATCH that people can hang in the "GOAT" category. A match with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania automatically puts you in that category. Until have has a match of that caliber, we will NEVER be truly over with the pre-PG era crowd.
D2Kprime 1 year ago
@D2Kprime Totally agree re Cena.
yea, watching Cena wrestle is teeth cringing, even more comical than Hogan (Hogan IMO was underrated, esp his psychology). Cena cannot do anything really except except to go through the motions, be a marketing hype, who has the look. He has yet to have that big moment, that memorable match, and likely doesn't have the capability to. All those other guys were more than able to grind out a good match or moment regardless of the situation.
at1212b 1 year ago
@at1212b : Yeah. Cena matches are very canned and predictable. Even more-so than Hogan was. At least with Hogan he would adapt more to what his opponent was doing. Of course, watching Hogan wrestling in Japan in comparison to America is night and day. He is was amazing over there. I mean HIGH technical skill. I'm sure Cena has the ability, but once you get the tag of 'franchise' you get a pass on having a respectable work-rate and all that matters is if the fans cheer you.

When did the "Classic WrestleMania Theme" start? Was it WM IV? V? VI even? I'm sure most of you agree that it's better than the Linda McMahon/WrestleMania theme :)
fivebearrugs 2 years ago
WrestleMania VI was the first time they used this theme and they stopped after WM VIII
Beltmark 2 years ago
Wow...thanks Beltmark; I never knew that (WM VII was my "first" and I still haven't seen the earlier ones yet). That Classic theme made it appear that all the WMs used it....they should bring it back nevertheless :)
fivebearrugs 2 years ago
You should definitely watch WM3, 5 and 6, I loved them.
Beltmark 2 years ago 8
@Beltmark Me to, my man! 3-Stacked card and the end of the Rock N Wrestling Era. 5-Solid main event(Hogan's best match IMO) and a dope undercard. 6-Another great undercard and the best booked World Championship match in WM history. This also started a new era for the WWF.
steeltownbrown52 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure they still used it at IX, but not as much.
jmn327 2 years ago
They might have used it on episodes of Superstars and Wrestling Challenge leading up to WMIX during the 'Update' segments where they were going over the card, I cant remember, but at the actual event itself they never used that music.
The intro had really lame music and at the start of the card they had that Roman music when Ceasar and all the animals came out.

this is probably the best intro to a Wrestlemania ever,
Stabesy 2 years ago 3
I was at this Wrestlemania i was coincidentally only 6. It was truly amazing, I remember when Hogan got pinned I started to cry (even tho I also liked Warrior). I think most people cheered when Warrior won.
Then I was there for Wrestlemania 18 for Rock vs. Hogan and being older I was more emotionally into the match, it was truly amazing. As they say Toronto has the best wrestling fans in the world (tied with New York City).
aas8 2 years ago
Sorry dude, but Chicago has the best wrestling fans. Look it up!!!

Ventura's words during this Intro are always an iconic quote I always associate with Wrestlemania.
"I've been to the Superbowl. I've been to the World Series. I've even been to the Rolling Stones!!! But there is one event which surpasses them all and that's Wrestlemania!"
Love it! Truly epic!

Gone.
adamweishaupt81 2 years ago 4
i cant believe wm 25 sucked comared to wm 6. at least i thought that 25th would be pretty darn good - but edge vs cena vs show is very lame because we have seen cena vs edge so many times and edge sucks as well as big slow being boring. wm 6 was hogan vs warrior - and 25th is boring people like edge and show lol.
i wish wcw would have won the war and wwf gone out of business. at least we would still have goldberg, ddp, flair, and the giant

If hhh really cared about his inlaw's company he would help them build new stars and not hold people down.
optimus57 2 years ago
hhh has put over people: he put over benoit at mania 20, he put over batista three times in 2005, he put over cena at mania 22, he put over orton and mania 24
ericwaffle31 2 years ago
Yep and Orton and Batista are established stars now. Time to make some new ones because everyone is sick of hhh, Orton, Batista and Cena facing each other constantly on Raw. If somebody had told me back in 1998 that the best match at wrestlemania 25 would be michaels v undertaker my response would have been "wow they really screwed up at creating new stars somewhere along the line". They need to do something inventive, quickly.
optimus57 2 years ago 3
@optimus57 Well it's the 20th anniversary of this WM and WM26 looks pretty stacked. I've always considered Batista v. Cena the 2000's version of the Ultimate Challenge and in a couple weeks we're getting part 2.
steeltownbrown52 2 years ago
They have done a really good job of booking mania this year.
optimus57 2 years ago
Batista vs Cena the rematch of the Ultimate Challenge? It would be big if they hadn't fought each other on numerous occasions over the years. Another difference is that Hogan and Warrior were hugely over because the fans actually loved them. Cena is apparently "over" because WWE thinks the fans love him (i'e' little kids), and Batista is Vince's joke of a modern day Ultimate Warrior.
Stabesy 2 years ago
Ah Batista and Cena haven't fought numerous occasions. Summerslam 08', that's it really. What are the other times, them being the final two people in the 05' Royal Rumble and the mini squash match at this year's Elimination Chamber? So to me this is still epic. Plus it seems like I gotta educate you on what being over is. When a star is even booed, they're still over. Let's not forget merchandise sales as-well. You and ya circle of internet buddies don't count.
