  • would you want to be eaten?

  • is that some seasoning on the crabs, if so can you describe the taste.

  • I like eating crabs.... I eat them alive... more fresh and crunchy

  • @TheRedCoke true, very true. Maybe I'll have a few raw oysters this afternoon to give me something to wash down with my beer.

  • i love crabs but not to eat.

  • Man I love Southern cooking!!! The best!!

  • Jealousy factor is pinging high, I need to get back to VA Beach, I'm all the way on the other side of VA, the mountains are my backdrop.

  • Omg I love crabs

  • @85TAYBABY if you don't love them, then something is wrong.

  • @TheOnlineCommunity which country are you talking about? The USA?

  • Im feelin bluuuue, just dreamin of yooouuu.

  • What time are we eating?

  • Anything south of the Mason-Dixon is southern, plain and simple. But to say using Old Bay is yankee, well that's just plain ignorant. That and steaming are the only way to eat crabs. KrispyK, why don't you stick to your zatarans or whatever and those mud bugs. You guys just ruin real seafood by boiling it anyway.

  • Lawlz, southerners debating whether they're "southern" enough. I've never been able to get my head around the group of people who are actually proud of being from the asshole of the country; a place the rest of the world looks upon with disgust, a place of trash culture, ignorance, poor hygiene, antiprogress, discrimination, racism, closedmindedness and an overall "heritage" that anyone in their right mind should be ashamed of. Yet they continue to shamelessly wave the flag. It's just beyond me.

  • @TheOnlineCommunity

Where are you from? Im an American naturalized citizen but you seem to have a very pretentious view.... please pray tell

  • @KillahB89 I'm from Naples, Florida.

  • Who says "you guys" and considers themselves Southern?

  • @TheKrispyK Robert E. Lee

  • @TheKrispyK you got served dipshit

  • Alabama = Mexico- um no?

  • If you are cooking with Old Bay- you clearly do. Down south we cook with Swamp Fire, Slap Ya Mama, and at the very least Zatarans. And FYI Virginia isn't exactly Southern anymore- sorry!

  • @TheKrispyK well I figured with the capital of the confederacy about 100 miles to the north we were. Where you guys are we consider Mexico.

  • Old Bay? Typical Yankee!

  • @TheKrispyK yup, here in southeastern Virginia we follow Yankee traditions. Huh?

  • holy crap thats a lot of crabs.

  • So they turn red when you cook them?? I thought they would turn black!

  • @DG3744 no, they turn bright red then you hit them with the Old Bay and you are good to go

  • @vbdenny it made my dick sooo hard

  • yum im eating crabs wright now does guys are vicious my dad grabs one (live) and they start to get angry spit bubbles and one time my dad got cut by a pincer

  • @enriqueification yup, those litttle sucker will grab you if you give them the opportunity and they move fast.

  • @vbdenny ya but they are tasty

  • @enriqueification lol, yeah, makes it worth the danger I guess.

  • @vbdenny mmm love the blue crabs cant wait for a couple mouths and get out there

  • @Nick75987 actually, my wife and I are meeting a friend at Bubba's (a VB seafood place) for lunch. Crabcakes and cold beer sounds pretty good to me. I'll report back later.

  • @vbdenny mmm same were u live to catch these crabs

  • did you save some 4 me..lol

  • many crabs were harmed during this video

  • @bastardpirate1 many crabs were EATEN shortly after this video.

  • best way to eat crustaceans and most seafood are steam it in sea water, and not add anything. And for the dipping, you want mixture of salt, ground pepper and lime,

Nothing else is needed for a fantastic seafood meal

  • Ew crabs are so creepy and gross. I wouldn't be able to go anywhere near that bucket.

  • Oh man they Looked Good

  • I uploaded some video about korean marinade blue crab. plz watch it and leave even a text

  • the part i hate is the cooling down

  • not blue crabs no more its red crabs :O

  • i would hate to be the crab on the bottom

  • r.i.p crab you lived a good 3 weeks now its time for you too be my dinner <3

  • @phillydevilboy92 hey philly. Gonna start 7 I see. What could be better than eating crabs and watching Michael Vick? Still the best NFL QB.

  • @vbdenny LMAOOO speaking of football when is the next football game sunday right?

  • @phillydevilboy92 Not sure but probably. Hard to keep up anymore.

  • @vbdenny lol dude you got ps3 ?

  • @phillydevilboy92 no, I don't have a game system right now. I had a regular Xbox with a driving simulator I made but I gave the whole thing to a friend. I am planning to get a 360 or PS3 and build a new simulator but just haven't had the time to get to it yet.

  • @vbdenny hmm i like 360 but ps3 = free like...internet and stuff

  • @phillydevilboy92 yeah, I have friends with both systems and from what I have heard the 360 has better graphics but the PS3 has more features. Since I really only ever play driving and racing games I will probably go for the 360. Besides a friends is selling me his 360 for $125. At the end, I don't have much time to use it anyway. The free Internet game access is a huge benefit for PS3 though,

  • they are under-size at my area

  • @IgnoredComment they are undersized for what was in this area but now they are about gone anyway in the Chesapeake.

  • Did you catch these or did you really find them?

  • @MahajiHaji bought them at a local seafood store

  • F a crab! You should see my feet after flounder gigging this week! F an oyster too! I feel like an emo kid with a foot fetish accompanied by razor blades! lol

  • blue crabs taste the best, the butter is so tasty.. better than other crabs

  • man this makes me miss va beach. layers of crab with old bay between and steamed is the way to go.

  • @erigais you LEFT Virginia Beach? This fall when the blues turn red, I'll be thinking of you. Probably even throw some clams on the Weber since they go good with beer just like the crabs. Can you smell the Old Bay?

  • man this makes me miss va beach. layers of crab with old bay between and steamed is the way to go.

  • those blue crabs are very blue!! wow!!!

  • nice blue crab dude, not to dis you sniperserg but those are not dungies I catch dungeness 3 times a week right now here in Washington and their about twice the sz. of a blue crab. @vbdenny whats the limit on those crab?

  • There are crabs like this by a beach where I went today.

I'm thinking of taking one home next time and cooking it, however I'm definitely going to educate myself on them first before I have a crab dancing around my place. :P

  • congratzz on the great cach there all huge

  • Now there Red Crabs :D

  • YOU KILLED MY KRABBY!!!!

  • What Part of virgina beach cause im going up there this weekend to do it.

  • good video :D

  • add seasoning just after cooking. You waste it steaming it. You wouldn't need more than half of a cup for a bushel.

  • @9878tubeyou we keep gallon jugs of Old Bay around so we don't care about wasting it. When it steams into those delicious beauties, there is nothing like it. Going to cook shrimp tonight though.

  • @vbdenny Actually you only want a little bit of seasoning. No more than hal;f a cupe to a bushel. Because you aren't eatin git all anyway.

  • lol this guy is funny i thought he only put old bay on he crabs and ate them without cooking them but when i look closely they wee cooked LOL those crabs looked good though :)

  • i see the crabs but where's the beer ?? Somebody once said something about pouring beer in the pot when steaming em, i said why would you waste the beer ?? Its like cooking wine ! Its called cooking wine because you drink it as your cooking !!!

  • next time submerge them in a boiling liquid and put them out of their misery quickly.

and those look like dungeness crab and not blue crab as the title states.

  • @sniperserg they are blue crabs, not dungeness. If you drop them into boiling water all you accomplish is washing off the Old Bay.

  • @vbdenny and you can always add the old bay to the water and get it flavored, ill give you credit for using old bay on crab. i usually poach shrimp and sometimes lobster in a court bouilion made with a little bit of old bay along with other spices.

  • @sniperserg Old Bay is a staple here in the south. Steaming them probably kills them faster anyway since steam is much hotter than boiling water. Either way, eating them is just terrific. The poached shrimp and lobster sounds good, I'll have to try that some time.

  • @vbdenny yes you can cook i just saw them is super market , shipped from thailand to uk , do the calculation.

if my mother land we do that all the time.

  • @vbdenny but the seasoning remains in the water and you let the soak so they absorb the seasoning.

  • tasty...

  • can u cook crab if they die few hours b4 cooking?

  • @skateboy159 I have always heard you should never do that. I think I heard some kind of toxin is released when they die. I'm not a marine biologist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

  • wow... they're actually blue before your season and cook em...

  • @SpadesHeart yes they are, a beautiful shade of blue which is very brilliant.

  • @vbdenny is there any way to retain that color after cooking? I'd be interested in learning that for presentation purposes.

  • @SpadesHeart no way to keep the blue. The second the steam hits them they begin turning to the red color you typically see in crabs. Not sure why that happens but I would be interested to hear.

  • @vbdenny hmm... i don't get many crabs where I live but I would like to try cooking them. I'm sure i could figure out a way to preserve the color...

  • Okay, this video didn't teach me anything...

Check out the you tube video on the Collapse-A-Trap, it teaches you how to catch live bait fish so you don't have to pay for it no more!

  • Hey how do you cook the Crabs? do you let the water boil first and they put them in? or do you boil the water and the craps at the same time?I dont know i just want to do it in the less cruel way posible.

  • Easy to cook but it helps if you have a crab steaming pot. You don't boil the crabs, you boil water then spinkle some Old Bay on them and drop them in so they steam. After they turn from blue to deep red, take them out and eat them.

  • We used to get over 100 a night.. Now day's i'm lucky to get 4-5 at semaphore beach in south Australia. Or just nothing :(

  • Didn't know south Australia had blue crabs. Kind of sad how limited their numbers are now.

  • Yeah, it's getting really bad.

  • Its amazing the markup on blue crabs. Consumers pay 3 times what i get for them. Tasty though ! lol

  • same with everything my friend. In the past we caught them in plentiful amounts in the eastern branch of the Elizabeth River. Now they are about gone.

  • Ya gotta eat them all once you cook em, or put them in the fridge right away. Thats the only thing i hate about crabs. They go bad SOOOO FAST. They're is like a 10 hour window before they go bad. But if you put them in the fridge as soon as ur finished cooking them they can last about 2-3 days.

  • We never seem to have the problem of eating them all. After we have our fill, we sit and pick and then save the crabmeat which freezes fine. Haven't ever stored cooked crabs since it seemed like a bad idea.

  • @vbdenny I cooked 2 bushels one time for a bar b q at around 11am. At around 11pm all the crabs that were sitting out started smelling like ammonia. And it wasnt easy throwing about a half a bushel in the trash.

  • We usually have them cleaned and done within a couple hours of when they were cooked.

  • Lucky you, because let me tell ya. It sucks wasting all that food. I just figured id give ya a heads up for next time you and ur family and friends have a cook out, to not cook more than what will be eatten within a few hours. But yes putting them in a fridge with plastic wrap does keep them fresh for a few days. But to tell ya the truth, watching this video again just put me in the mood for some. HAHA.

  • man i miss living where crab are abundant! Its expensive as hell to get a small amount of crab here! There so beautiful

  • I'm Vegan and that looks good...

  • now that IS impressive. Thanks

  • @WithLoveAliceCullen go die in a fire after shooting yourself

  • im pregnant and i want crab NOW!!!!

  • or what, you'll get crabby? Whatever, got to keep you happy, here's a bushel for you

  • wait i thought you had to cook them alive

  • We never cook the dead ones, they go back in the river as food for their friends.

  • oh man that looks good, *gets up and gos to cook some pathetic cheap artificial crab meat :(

  • whats wrong with you

  • LOL @ showing the seasonings and then next screen those babies are nice and seasoned up. :D

  • yummy!!! i want some!!!

  • crab... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • mmmh looks good

  • It must have hurt the crabs' hearts to see the seasoning. lol

  • oh yeah, when the Old Bay hits them, they know they are food

  • these are big

  • Yummy! They look delicious! We boil crabs every week, lol. We live on the ocean so we throw the crab traps out and come home with 2 traps full of crabs. That's some good eating!

  • @YvetteMBriggs dude you live on the ocean wtf are you mermaid man?

  • they were alive thats how there cooked except for maybe (im not trying to be racist) at some of the cheeper chinese restaurant will cook them dead and they taste like shit

  • I'm surprised that you said that 'cause Chinese ppl generally like their seafood super-fresh. Like those tanks of live lobster and crab at the restaurants. Well, I guess if that's how they have to be cooked, it can't be helped. But I still feel bad for them! :/

  • Not long ago I would have agreed with protoncode but I just had a friend return from a year in China. I was quite surprized when he told me what fanatics the Chinese are about fresh food and food in general.

  • aggreed

  • never eat an already dead crab, they release a toxin that can hurt u

  • mirandaconner~thanks for the info; I wasn't aware of that. I was only speaking from a humanitarian perspective. Not sure why my comment would get a thumbs down because of it.

  • Shellfish ( clams, mussels, oysters, scallops, shrimp, prawn, lobster, crayfish, and crabs,) need to be cooked when they are alive. When crabs die they release an enzyme that breaks down the muscle or meat that is inside. This result is the meat becoming very mushy. If you ever eat shellfish at a restaurant and it is mushy, send it back. That animal was dead before it was cooked and that is not sanitary and it could be dangerous.

  • Ok, much thanks for the tip AbsoluBB.

  • crabborific

  • i have 4 as pets im going to the beach tommorow to get them salt water (santa cruz ) but till then i got them sea salt mix and they eat fish my grandma got a lot from the store and she let me pick four since they were still alive i picked the mosed aggresive:)

  • Don't eat blue crabs, they help control the zebra mussels.

  • I'm pretty sure that zebra mussels inhabit fresh water lakes and I know blue crabs are in salt or brackish water.

Besides, crabs are so tasty, how can you look at those beautiful creatures and not want to eat them?

  • you said "how can you look at those beautiful creatures and not want to eat them" haha that kinda funny.......

  • I don't really like seafood so I'll just look at them!

  • ohhhh, uh huh. The only reason you don't like to eat them is because you haven't tasted them. Man, dump on some Old Bay and uhhh huh.

  • I remember catching blue crabs down in the Indian River Inlet near bethany Beach, Delaware! The Old Bay Seasoning has the tendency to calm the active crabs down when they are covered by a good dustingof it! Easier to handle then! Del-Marva Crabcakes!!! That is some GOOD EATIN'!

  • years ago we caught them in quanity on the elizabeth river here. now, you have to buy them since if you put out a dozen crab pots with nasty smell, partial decomposed chicken parts in them, you might get 12 crabs. sucks but we now have enough money to buy them. and the old bay... damn, you made me hungrey!

  • 0:16 so happy =] 0:35 so sad =[

  • What mathod was used for catching these crabs?

    //Greetings from Sweden

  • most crabs are caught by using baited crab pots but you can catch them with a piece of string and a net. Hello Sweden, thanks for watching

  • good lord this is making me hungry

  • And this is why I'm going back to MD/VA. A little to visit the fam...but mostly for the BCs!

  • damn, I can almost smell the Old Bay.

  • mind if i pull up a chair?? makes me fricken hungry

  • Hey grab a chair, I'll get you a cold beer and you'll be good to go. Don't forget the Old Bay.

  • LOl xD

  • how many do you need?

  • as many as you can get. Just think about having a nice crab dip right about now

  • damnnn that shit looks good.

  • and in this case looks are NOT deceiving. This shit WAS good.

  • I was raised in annapolis Maryland back in the 60's We used to net these babies off the pilings

    at the marinas

We'd eat crab every day for a whole summer.

soft crab sandwiches for lunch everyday

  • back years ago we could go out in the river across the street and throw in some crab pots and fill them. Now,you might get one or two.

  • Nice magic. Blue crabs become red crabs. Haha... By the way, that's a lot of crabs. Can you finish all?

  • Oh they were all finished. We usually have a bunch of people and sit around and drink beer, eat and when we are full we just pick the crabmeat for later.

  • Wow very big eaters. That means the crab meat will be treated as snacks instead of a meal?

  • yeah, like packrats we hoard it away. We freeze it and then use it to make crab dip for our parties. Nobody really eats all that much, it is more like pick and store and have some when you feel like it. Old Bay and beer just set the tone. We cover the table with newspapers and dump a bunch in the middle. Then you just pick a crab and break it up. Once you have the technique down, you can clean one in a couple minutes provided you aren't yakking.

  • The way you said it sounds like this is a man's party.

  • Man's party? not at all. A bunch of middle aged couples and realtives we have known forever. A neighborhood thing.

  • damn! dude my mom loves blue crabs. personally, i like red rock crab. but whatever. she'd love to see a bucket like that on the front porch.

Btw, did you catch them or buy them?

  • bought them since they are difficult to catch now

  • Now I want to go back to Maryland and get some BCs. Damn. Hey real quick though. They weren't moving when we all first saw them. Were they pre-frozen or chilled? Just gettin ideas from when I cook crabs next time. In the past it was pretty much a battle between the claws VS tongs. Although the chopstick method works too.

  • fvck ckrabs nikka die slow bich..

  • Yes we all know succulants foul quicker than other meats BUT that doesn't mean boilling it alive is better than freezing it alive for your health. Now what would you prefer? Being tossed in a pot or a freezer? Freezer DUH!

So why boil the crab alive instead of freezing it alive or cutting it up?

Can someone answer that instead of giving me a thumbs down and saying shit about "shocked" when that's not what I'm suggesting. I've heard there's an EASY way to put LOBSTERS to sleep in your hand

  • i think it's so fucked up that they cook them alive. these guys looked dead but still. u should euthanize them 1st. i heard there's a way to put them to sleep by holding down some part of their body in tv when I was a kid. The show was saying how crab cooks know this but choose not to do it. In fact the person who said it was a crab cook supposively who WAS doing it that way.

  • either way your killing them. only when you put them in shock they cant move. if u drop them in boiling water they die fast. if u shock them they die slower

  • They are CRABS, they were meant to be eaten. If they are dead before you go to cook them, you throw them out.

  • The ones that are killed BEFORE cooking taste MUCH better :-P -- Throwing out good meat is retarded

  • "they were crabs they were meant to be eaten" yes they were and I eat them too. BUT most animals get eaten believe it or not. Think of a predatory fish that is not usually the "prey" of another. When that fish dies and gets washed up to shore, the crabs will eat it ;) -- if not it decomposes and plants eat it.

Point is their purpose on earth isn't so much providing food. I think the purpose is cleaning aka taking out the garbage :-P

  • either way there going to die and feel discomfort. they dont have a personality like a dog so who cares! LOL
