wow old video remix of a gold ramp test jump on walking out the door of a c130 instead of jumping. wanted to stop having the dragon gunners having there tubes hang up in the door. sorry Van Halen was better
When you see a paratrooper do you know what to do?...You stand still you chill the fuck out and hope he doesn't put you on the list of shit he wants to fuck up today! You go home and hide in the corner and pray that he doesn't fucking change his mind and shit on your life.
Man does this bring back some memories! It does look as though that several troopers will have line twists on the exits but I can remember having a few myself.
My Green Beret is off to you SpecOps, thanks for posting this.
because they are americans, it is to compensate for the size of their balls.
seriously now, americans got to have everything large, they think that the more shit they carry, the better your chances are to win.
point is, a combat jump needs only your fighting gear and emo, all that shit they carry is clearly not for direct combat reasons , it is when they go out camping, tihihi...
@Israellite1 Not sure if you are familiar with Operation Overlord (D-DAY)..Paratroopers from the 101st and 82nd airborne divisions jumped into Normandy in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944..They conducted sustained combat operations for almost a complete month with little or no re-supply....When we jump we jump ready to fight...we dont know when or if re-supply is comeing..we take enough supplies to last us for an uncertain amount of time....
just like the rest pf us, not with the operational aspect of particular combats.
I know you are right, that's what I meant with "camping". I know of special airborne units. we down here in the nasty wild near east, will mostly jump into direct contact.
I was not a paratrooper, I admit that much. I wont shit you, I was an ordinary foot soldier in the israllei army, and later became part of an arrest unit, not exactly elite, but doing the same kind of work.
I fulfilled my services in Greek Special Forces as a paratrooper and also as a trainer in Greek Paratrooper School.I've made 13 jumps in my military service. This video is awesome and reminds me a lot!We jumped from 1200ft.I greet all the paratroopers as they are by all the bravest soldiers.
Thanks for posting this!! My son just graduated from the Course on Friday, almost 35 years to the day when I graduated.. I got to pin my original wings on him at the ceremony - simply one of the proudest days of my life. Airborne!!
Im sick of sky divers thinking there paratroopers try jumping out a fuckin plain 2 in the morning with 95lbs of combat equipment and 42lbs of parachute.
@bartman1775 we jumped kevlars for the first time in 81 or 82, about half of them flew of during the exit. No big deal unless you were on the ground, it sounded like bowling balls landing and thumping into sicily drop zone. I miss so much and want to get a dalorean and go back in time, civilian life is so damn boring without the risks and commraderie that we took for granted back then. good luck 1\508 live large and you will not die small
@prebioticc - the static line activates the shoot, if that doesn't work the soldier will use his back up shoot, if that don't work well, pull your weapon out and shoot on your way down
@prebioticc It's static line, one end attached to your parachute, one end attached to the plane, it opens your parachute automatically when you jump out. It's supposed to at least
By 1943 standard in today’s dollars a PFC’s pay, foreign duty and combat bonus amounted to 2,943 dollars per month. Sergeant with sufficient time-in-service and assuming sharpshooter, amounted to 4,185 dollars per month.

Ok seriously who cant tell that its important to have paratroopers? They can be anywhere in the world in 24 hours, They are the first large forces we put on the ground. Not only does it beat the hell out of walking but you can put them anywhere, behind in front or beside the enemy. They raid and cause havoc and cause general mayhem till the legs get there.
Everyone seems to think these are all fun and games but I got bad news for ya friends, when theres AA fire and bullet holes in your chute and hostiles in literally every direction you dont think about how fun it is you think about how fast you get get to that ground and get behind something solid. The 10 minutes before you jump into a combat zone will most likely be the most nerve racking and bladder emptying experience you will ever go through. jumper from operation market garden told me that
@USparatroopersurgeon regular parachutist jump with 70 pounds of gear a rifle and ext the plane every second from 800 feet wirh hundereds of others to bounce ofd of at 0dark30? wow I must have missed that
@USparatroopersurgeon you were a paratrooper sugeon, I was a paratropper m-60 gunner, I made mass attack jumps into a few different countries, bounced of other jumpers in the dark, tree landings in panama and germany and watched two entangled jumpers bounce off the ground. Paratroopers from my unit(82nd) were dragged to death in the desert during high wind jumps. My point is civilian jumping is fun, but a whole lot less scary or dangerous
@Vanyaaynav no you idiot we jumped mass attack and put as many chutes in the air as possible, you must have jumped hollywood jumps every time We had 8,9,10, c141 aircraft on most jumps and put jumpers out every second from both doors at the same time with c-rats, ammo, weapons, spare radio batteries, water, extra uniforms etc. everything you needed to live for a few days, since we jumped into panama, germany, turkey, where ever we landed wherever the Airforce dropped us.
@Vanyaaynav It was not uncommon to be put out over trees by the Air Force. There wasn't a Trooper in my platoon that did not make tree landing. You always trained and prepare for trees, power lines, and water.
@TheHoomaikai I not the military parachuter, I the civil parachuter the-fan (nonprofessional) .Я jumped on army parachutes of the Soviet sample. Yes you are right us also learned to sit down on electric mains, trees, water, but also and learned to avoid these obstacles. Basically on trees girls парашютистки got only.
@certifiedbomber , paratroopers are still CRITICAL to America's military. The 173rd jumped into Iraq in the 2003 invasion and right now, the paratroopers (may have been a few years ago cause of the time the book was publshed) is leading a spec ops task force right now in Afghanistan. Paratroopers are critical or we wouldn't have them.
@TheNavysealsrock---CORRECTION Navysealsrock.... There is also a little known, but VERY successful Brigade in ALASKA which is the only Airborne Infantry Brigade in the Army ! We are the 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry Division out of Ft. Richardson. SPARTA LIVES !!! (If you dont know, u better ask somebody...) Airborne, ALL THE WAY!!! Death From Above !!!!!
@ChronicSilver88 , training ain't easy, it's phyisical punishing. Paratroopers are an elite unit, so by nature the training isn't going to be easy. I'm 13, so as soon as I'm able to join, I'm going airborne Ranger.
@ChronicSilver88 , yes, the airborne is the army and not in USMC or navy (although they both have para capable units like SEALs or Force Recon but aren't in any means an airborne division) and when you join, the army will ask you what MOS you want and you can ask for airborne, but it doesn't always turn out that way. You have to have perfect strength and flexibility in all joints and exeptional phisical strength.
@TheNintendoFreak117 they do. its called tail gating, and it is slower, you need to put as many men as close together as possible when they hit the ground and that means jump both doors at the same time as fast as you can
My old drop zone. Believe me, you weren't allowed to hesitate or you would get a boot in the back of your ass making your jump. And if you mess up the rotation, the guy jumping out the other door would slam into you under the plane. If you think this is crazy, imagine doing this with 7 C-17's with about 500 paratroopers dropping all at once at 2am. That, my friends, is scary.
@OhShitDidHeDie actually guess that as long as you're not first in the line you don't have much time to think and you get out of the plane before you know it. Following others must be easier than being alone. When jumping into combat they are surely more worried about what's awaiting them on the ground than the jump itself.
Not look like a proper c-130 exit. more like a 141 or even 117, but in a c-130 trooper places hands on skin of aircraft and jumps, not walks, out the door. just saying.
@gary60rn That is a gold ramp test jump. Testing walking out the door in a c130 around 1993. We also tested going out at a 30 Deg angle do to dragon tubes sometimes getting hung up in the door.
@Vanyaaynav For training, usually 350-400 Meters. It gives time to use reserve chute if there is a problem. For combat, under 200 meters. Reserve is carried also in combat, but time is so short the best one can hope for is a "partial opening", which perhaps will preserve life but will still result in severe injury. One gives more fabric, and hopes for the best.
I remeber it well. It was a proud day when that col. punched those wings on my chest. I had made it, I was Airborne. I had become a paratrooper like my father before me. All the way!
But how will they get into combat at the beginning of the war/battle? Sure, after an area is secure and a base can be set up its not really useful, but at the beginning, yes it is necessary.
@Nathan8r: He was hooked up; when the JM does his door check/DZ observation the Safety controls his static line; if you know what your talking about you can clearly see him extend his Left arm; hence left door leg.
Then you see him controlling his static line while he taps out #1 Jumper. Did you think he would hold his static line while he was leaning out the door? Maybe you should leave the evaluations to the professionals; JUMPMASTERS! So I am now ready to hear your BS responce or Airforce technical expertise or whatever; people should think before they talk.
Sicily, normandie, st. Mere eglise 3 of my favovorite dz's at Bragg. Oh and don't forget the hours and hours you sat on your ass at green ramp at pope AFB.
@jess1up : I do not know about now, but when I was in, we ran 5-7 miles a day. I would also recommend doing alot of pushups and pull ups. Upper body strength is also important.
As a paratrooper it's not disrespectful to say that it's outdated because it is. Very, very few soldiers have a mustard stain on their wings. Technology has made jumping into combat pointless. Even if we did it would be a slaughter because the haj don't give a flying fuck about the Geneva conventions.
@wlawson09 Paratroopers are fair game in the Geneva Convention, It is Aircrews parachuting from disabled planes that are protected. Right, it has been well documented of atrocities and violations comitted against parachuting pilots and aircrews. As for paratroopers being obselete, why do most of the world powers still have parachute units? Especially regimental and division size units.
@wlawson09 Im pretty sure its mainly used for Spec ops these days, As it puts them behind enemy lines where they need to be, without bringing too much attentionto their cause. Or thats what i can figure anyways.

@willbthebest
But how will they get into combat at the beginning of the war/battle? Sure, after an area is secure and a base can be set up its not really useful, but at the beginning, yes it is necessary.

@Nathan8r: He was hooked up; when the JM does his door check/DZ observation the Safety controls his static line; if you know what your talking about you can clearly see him extend his Left arm; hence left door leg.
michaelsmith024 1 year ago
Then you see him controlling his static line while he taps out #1 Jumper. Did you think he would hold his static line while he was leaning out the door? Maybe you should leave the evaluations to the professionals; JUMPMASTERS! So I am now ready to hear your BS responce or Airforce technical expertise or whatever; people should think before they talk.

Even if we did it would be a slaughter because the haj don't give a flying fuck about the Geneva conventions.
wlawson09 1 year ago 15
@wlawson09 that means as a soilder faceing them neither should you
haloguy00 1 year ago
@wlawson09 Paratroopers are fair game in the Geneva Convention, It is Aircrews parachuting from disabled planes that are protected. Right, it has been well documented of atrocities and violations comitted against parachuting pilots and aircrews. As for paratroopers being obselete, why do most of the world powers still have parachute units? Especially regimental and division size units.
TheHoomaikai 1 year ago
@wlawson09 Well, it has it uses. But only in conventional warfare, when fighting gorilla tactics its rather pointless.
kop4321 11 months ago
@wlawson09 Im pretty sure its mainly used for Spec ops these days, As it puts them behind enemy lines where they need to be, without bringing too much attentionto their cause. Or thats what i can figure anyways.
jamieashinfincle 10 months ago
@jamieashinfincle they would probably halo jump. at a much higher altitude.
