In Phoenix, AZ (I lived in Kingman at the time), the show started at 9:30 AM on KPHO (then indy, now CBS), replacing Tic-Tac Dough and following The Joker's Wild. Season two aired at the same time on KUTP (then indy, now MyNetwork).
That clip was actually taken from an early 1985 episode of The $25,000 Pyramid, though. I think they just wanted a clip that really got people energized into watching the show.
And in both the bay Area and Sacramento, it was on KPIX (Jan-Sept 1991) and KOFY (Sept 1991-March 1992) while KXTV 10 (Then CBS, now ABC)carried the show at 3 PM.
I lived in New Mexico at the time during my pre-school years and my kindergarten years when I saw JD Pyramid.
They used to play the show twice a day:
1st time was around 9 or 10 in the morning on another channel (forgot which one it was), then they played it around 5:30PM (Mountain time) after Muppet Babies reruns and before Jeopardy! on their CBS-affilliate stations at the time.
In NY, it didn't get cleared until the summer of 1991, when Long Island indie WLIG picked it up, airing it @ 5:30 PM...WNBC also picked it up for the 2nd season, but buried it in a 2:40 AM slot.
However, WVIT in nearby Hartford/New Britain ran it from the beginning, though they also dumped it in an overnight slot....funny, I saw it listed in TV Guide and up until the 91 Daytime Emmys, I thought they were just reruns of the 80s version!
@WhatsAYak We got this on a late night slot on Detroit's WDIV NBC affiliate out of Detroit.Game shows were slowly neing phased out of network television at this point.
I used to watch The $100,000 Pyramid on KLFY TV 10 Weekdays at 4.

Funny how they showed a clip from $25K Pyramid with Richard Moll, and a clip from the original $100K Pyramid with Brian Mitchell.

Here in Dallas/Fort Worth, it came on at 11:30am on KXAS-TV NBC 5.
This was the lineup in my neck of the woods:
10:00am: Wheel of Fortune with Bob Goen and Vanna White.
10:30am: Classic Concentration with Alex Trebek.
11:00am: A Closer Look with Faith Daniels (NBC news magazine show).
11:30am: The $100,000 Pyramid with John Davidson.
12:00pm: Channel 5 News at Noon.
I remember it like it was yesterday... :-)
