  • Theres some light frost! Quick abandon all buses, run for your lives!

  • LOL @ people getting mad about complete strangers problems.

  • Central London usually has around 8-9 days of lying snow per year. Generally all from E'lies or NE'lies. In recent winters, around 3-4 days of lying snow had become the norm. February 2009's snowfalls affected SE England so badly as it was generally the snowiest in 18 years (Feb 1991). There was a foot of snow in December 2010 in parts of South Essex, that is a lot for any parts in lowland Britain. Generally accumulations of an inch or two in C London is regarded as a blessing from 1991-2009. :)

  • There had been no gritting on the roads, The snow came down and froze. The buses are automatic and were unable to move without sliding into the kerbs. If they grit the roads the buses will keep moving.

  • "The snow had compacted and frozen to the road" Sorry but I'm looking at this and theres like one layer of snow down on that road, its easily drivable on that, just a sign of the lack of ability to handle snow in England.... Or more specifically, London. At least in Scotland the whole country doesn't grind to a halt with one layer of snow, like is shown in this video

  • Bus Drivers these days dare not have a bump of any kind regardless of who is at fault because their bosses come down on them like a ton of bricks and keep any incident on file for future reference.

  • Here in Falkirk (near glasgow and edinburgh) we got 10 inches of snow in one night ok schools where closed but buses could still run. the buses only stoped when it came to 20 inches, we now have 25-30 inches and school has been closed for 2 1/2 weeks

  • I remember driving home from London to Watford back in the last 70's when we got hit with a major snowstorm...good thing we had a full tank of petrol...was a 3 hour trip

  • we 'come to a stand still' because we are not going to spend money on snow clearing equipment for something that isn't that frequent

  • @spillthedavids also uk roads are really narrow ones in comparation with german, so its not recommended to go through that snow covered car fulled up alley. it may end up quite fatal, or least with side cars scratched, i reckon.

  • @spillthedavids Ye And If We Do We Could Of Gone Into Economic Downfall Theres More Important Things Than Clearing Up Snow Let It Pass And Enjoy The Stuff It Only Comes Like Once A Fucking Year

  • pathetic really

  • man -1 celcius and 2 inches of snow and london fucking shuts down

here in central canada -30 celcius and several feet of snow on the ground for the entire winter and shit runs like normal

  • @benchod94 Cos We Hardly Ever Get It Some Fucking People Dont Get It Do They

  • @Ben78177 don't make excuses dumb cunt

ok look at vancouver for example

the climate is virtually identical to londons

but you don't see them come to a screeching halt when it does snow

  • @benchod94 you dont have to be rude, just cos your having a hissy fit dosnt mean you have to be rude

  • @benchod94 And Besides We Had 15 Inches IN Our Area A Start Of December And Buses Didn't Stop Running Schools Didnt Shut (Only 1 Day They Shut And The Snow Was Here All Week) Dont Think Im Telling The Truth Look For Yourself We're Starting To Get Used To It Now

  • @Ben78177 used to it my fucking ass!

who shut down gatwick for 3 days staright just like 2 weeks ago?

    hahaha

and 15 inches is nothing we got 5 feet outside here right now which stays on the ground till the end of march

  • @benchod94 there you go again stop having hissy fits and swearing cos you cant stop your mouth

  • @Ben78177 you are the ones having "hissy fits" over 1 cm of snow

    piss of stupid wanker

  • @benchod94 but am i the one who got t

swearing problems no :) and did i say i lived in central london no i didnt i said my area coped the snow pretty well not london

  • This is just a light snowfall.

  • there is hardly any snow up north in bolton we had about 6 - 10 inches of snow and all of the buses carried on even tho the roads were aboslutly covered

  • The reason why the UK comes to a standstill in weather like this, is the country doesn't want to spend money buying lots of snow clearing equipment, because we dont get this weather every year.

  • london comes to a standstill with 2inch of snow.

  • 3rd world Country when it snows here

  • @DADDIO2 Ridiculous isn't it?

  • u think thats bad wait untill you see all the busses are school get when its icey they slide round the corners in the morning.

  • This looks like a normal norwegian winter

  • @Spurz30 this looks like apocalypse in south Italy

  • What does stranded mean?

  • We have a saying here in the UK - "you wait ages for one bus and three come along at once!"... although in this case it looks a lot more than 3!

  • now you know why 3 or more come together if they stuck at 1 place they all pile up until they are free they all come together lol

  • wow..spooky...just how quiet it is..and how many vehicles are there!! never thought I wud see that scene!

  • Wow, this is surreal. Sort of eerie in a way too. lol

  • i have never seen as many buses as this on a road like this excluding Oxford Street

  • Unique! Who had imagined this after so many years without snow...

    Marion

  • kewl video dude, wish it was longer. I miss those buses. been stuck here in San Francisco for the last 30 bloody years :(

  • Hey i think those busses are cool. I want one! and i wonder why those never caught on in the rest of the world. We need those here in the usa and for the snow? we had 18 inches here 2 weeks ago took me 2 hours to dig my car out and i still couldn't get out my drive

  • I could never see the sense in those things, but isnt a bus that big extremely heavy? It should get good traction...

  • No, the opposite is true. The smaller and lighter the vehicle, the better the traction. Also wider tyres are more difficult for grip. In 2 or 3 inches of snow, little Fiat Punto, say, would out grip a Ford Mondeo any day of the week.

  • That isn't even 1cm of of snow, thats a sprinkling, what a joke!

  • I lived in the south east of England most of my life, and am wondering how can buses be stranded in that so called snow? We had more than that where i am now, and I still drove my tiny diesel car to work no probs. :-p

  • Seeing these buses is an embarrasment.. I have been to Poland in the winter and the busus are still running at -25c. Salt put on the road freezes too at those temperatures.

  • Of course we are going to hear of nothing but London when it snows, it's all we ever hear about. UK news/weather is South East obsessed. We in the North Pennines had 7" of snow on day 1. The following day another 7" making 14" We still have it now as ice nearly a week later. Temperature was -14 deg one night. Not a mention on the national news. Our local news coverage did mention the "soft Londoners" though.

  • Ha funny. London news only mentioned the 'cost' of the snowfall or the tradgedies associated. Nothing of the bizarrely uplifting affect the snow had on the city. I could live here many more years and quite possibly never see Lononers playing and laughing with friends and strangers alike. guess this is not news ad it it is not depressing.

  • I drove past my local bus garage at Fulwell, and all of the drivers were having a big snow-ball fight in the yard...Heh heh.

  • I was sledding down ally pally, same place i sunbath in the summer haha

  • Grat idea for preventing snow in London! Build a big wall around the whole city and fill it with water! Then we could all enjoy a holiday without hearing how great London is and Oi Oi every 3 seconds.

4" of snow!!! London GROW A SET.

  • Hmm, it's easy for you Canadians to go on about how our snow was pathetic, but don't forget that in Canada, this is a regular occurence, so you are always prepared for it. You all have special clothing, tyre tracks, your roads are developed for snow. This was the heaviest snow for 18 years in London, and it never snows in London, so we weren't prepared, we never get this sort of stuff. Given the weight of the snow, I think London coped surprisingly well.

  • EPIC FAIL!! XD

Never seen so many busses stranded!! XD

I live in the NW of England, the snow is coming to us next, heavy snow expected for us on Thursday and Friday!! >:D

  • It's like a double decker strike or summit ''GIVE US MORE PAY''..I could imagin them saying XD

  • woah are you kidding? you know how much it snows today alone in toronto? this must be a joke

  • That may be so, but this video is of LONDON. We hardly get snow, and when we do, it never settles, so what happened was very rare. We don't have a dig at you when we you get some sunshine now do we?

  • I moved to London from Ontario 9 yrs ago and have never seen proper snow accumulation like this. London has not spent the tens of millions on plows and removal systems because it's not warranted.

I don't remember Canadians having such mass fun in the snow. Toronto is tame compared to the Soo where they have hundreds of acres dedicated for dumping snow into when the snow that is plowed can't be piled any higher due to power lines...they have fewer snow closures than T.O.

  • hi everybody from unsnowed parts of the world

    winter should be white

and it does not depend on your wishes

let snow decorate our grey habitats

the rest should do special cleaning services

  • why so far

    you can go to russia

so many places to play snowballs and ski

    snow is not chaos

it is an important part of winter

  • throw buckets of water over snow to make it go away

  • wow yesterday was fun

snow is the best way to pick up gals

  • HAHAHA learn to drive

  • If you live in Canada or Michigan your cars have tyres that give extra traction for the snow PLUS you are USED to driving in the snow too! To have this much snow in UK is rare and people just don't know how to drive in snow - not their fault - why would you need to learn if it don't hardly snow there?I'm a Brit living in Michigan USA now, but when it FIRST snows over here, theres tons of crashes/accidents -people forget how to drive in the snow!Everyone take care and drive safely n keep warm :)

  • As A Canadian I gotta say: I brush 20cm off my car once a week in winter. What is wrong with you people?

  • Uh, how are they stranded?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow that was very interesting...

The video is done in a great manner. I really enjoyed it!

    Thanks for posting!

  • PARK IT UP AND LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS MATE DONT WORRY ABOUT THE GRITTERS NOT GETTING THROUGH GET BACK HERE AND PUT YOUR MONEY INTO THE CANTEEN OR WE WILL HAVE TO CLOSE THAT AS WELL AS THE BLOODY GARAGE ! parking on the roadside cos they have sold the garage ?

  • Lol i get what you mean but it wasnt 3 inches of snow

its like 10 inches where i am some places more than that

But yeah places like the Uk are not really prepared for that much snow because it doesnt happen often

  • " Oh shit 3 inche's of snow "

and the whole of the uk comes to a stand still..

fucking hell people in germany / sweden / austria still goto work and still have trains and busses going when its 3ft of snow , englands taking abit of snow like its the ice age !

  • It nts that, when you have a thin layer of snow on the road and a bunch of tossers revving there car cos there micra cant get a grip, the snow soon turns to ice. Love to see you drive a double decker period.

  • the thing is it is not so much the snow causing the trouble it is the ice and it is rather dangerous. buses carry alot of people and transport for london had to sht down the bus network for safety purposes (due to alot of ice on the roads)

  • what is a 'double decker period'? I lived in London for 3 years and I never noticed one having a period....

  • Its a really fat woman, whne she's got 'the painters' in !

  • agreed... england is bancrupt and doesnt knwo what snow is...

  • @3DDDs Yes but thos countries have adapted to that knid of scenario, however britain hasnt, and thats why it caused so much problems.

  • @3DDDs , HA HA HA LOL

  • @3DDDs Ye But We Hardly Ever Have Amy Snow That Was Taking In 2009 So We Hadnt Had Snow For Over 20 Years Are Busses And Cars Arn't Ready For It And Thats Why They Dont Work

  • @3DDDs tbf most countries that get alot of snow are used to it and deal with it more effieciently, like we're so used to the rain ect, but we hardly get snow so it can get overwhelming

  • @3DDDs You forget about the ice. The snow might not look like alot, but the ice could be extremely dangerous.

  • Quite right , sarcasm was set to full.

Proper buses back then not these bendy rubber buses that wrap themselves round trees , corners etc.

  • Cool looking BUses.

  • pwn3d

  • So much for global warming.

  • You could say this is a result of Global Warming. More unpredictable weather to come probably.

  • Snow is a result of global warming you say.

I grew up in London during the 80s and there was snow usually during Jan or Feb and this began becoming less frequent until it became rare during the 90s. Was the snow during my childhood a result of global warming? No it was not, but now we are seeing all weather through the eyes and minds of global warming.

This is serious mind control by mass-media propaganda.

  • Exactly

  • oh shit ahh man london is fucked with this weather

  • so true....

  • Looks like the Drivers have been told to "down tools" so to speak.

  • Coooo it's just like the Blitz innit !

People of Fulahm go out onto the streets and talk your usual bollux. All the hot air will soon melt the ice and snow.

  • No dear it ain't like the Blitz.

    Back then buses kept running.
