I love your videos, but half the things you do I can't. Mostly it is the moves that involve flexibility, is there anyway I could work to improve this?
can you make a video on your diet, like what you eat to stay fit and if you do any addtional excercises like running. also, how can we go from being a beginner to being really limber? do it just happen because someone is born with a lot of flexibility?
@13vlee Most people aren't just born flexible. Some may naturally be more limber than others, but you aren't born being able to do the splits ;) If you do flexibility exercises regularly you will get there eventually, it may take some time depending on your body, but you can get more flexible, it just takes some time ! :D Godd luck !
I have to say a big fear of mine is being fat and this kind of stuff is good but if you are a bit on the bigger side just buy a little cheapo trampoline and jump for several minutes a day, trampolining is the 2nd faster form of calorie burning. And then you can do things like this ! hahah, solution?
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. Thank you so much for these lessons!! I've never felt so fresh in my entire life. I was very out of shape, still am, but I can touch my toes now, yay!
I thought all this yoga crap was a joke at first. Then I started p90x and laughed when yoga was a part of the program. Ha! Joke was on me because it turned into one of the hardest, if not the hardest, video to do through out the 90 days. Then you start getting better and it is very satisfying when you notice you can hold poses longer, legs are straighter and your fingertips reaching that much longer. Improved balance also did a hell of a lot for me as a soccer player. Tough it out...you won'
i just want to say that i am actually doing all this excersises for begginers and they are great...i can say that i am more flexible than before :) and i feel a lot better...at first it was kinda difficult to stand on my hands, but with time i gain more strenght in my arms...oh and i looove lounge pose :))
thats for beginners??/ I thought my brains were gonne come out of my ears doing the downward dog...not to mention my arms gave out after about 45 seconds....gesh

This is such a great clip! If you buy yoga dvd's, you really can't watch them and do the poses (too much looking up and missing where you're suppose to be at a given point) NOW, with this clip, I was able to memorize the poses, write them on an index card, and keep the card on the floor in front of me. It's so simple and efficient. Thanks Tara!!
that's exactly what i thought when i looked at it the first time and to be completely honest, it is hard but i for one got the hang of it eventually... and well, the problem for me was not the lack of strength but more that i wasn't used to actually feel the sensation of exhausting workout (which it was for me) so i had to pull through and when i saw that i can do it, i had to do it again and again... ^^
I really enjoyed this video, 'cause you're cool in it and I'm a beginner so it is highlighting all the stuff I'm learning from you at this stage of practice. :) I'll share this one with my facebook friends, so they too can get their yoga on with Tara!
Wow I am a completer beginner and in only two days I can already touch my toes, which I wasn't even close to being able to do before. VERY encouraging to get nearly immediate results :)
being elastic is being able to return into original state after applying force (stretch or pressure)... one thing we don't want in yoga... we want to be able to go further in our excersises...
The ability to move a body joint through its full range of motion, the range of motion through which a joint can move without feeling pain. To have a wide range of motion in a joint. An example of the types of flexibility required of athletes is to be able to do all three splits.
Time needed to achieve flexibility depends on your fitness level...workout regularly in your own limits...it will come to you...do not set time goals in yoga practice, focus on proper form
Yeah! Sometimes I do push to much. Result is pain, and pain demotivates! Gotta stop pushing like that!:-) I think sometimes its that stupid morality of these days that nothing can be achieved without pain! I know better! Yet I still mess up!LOL
Lovely vid! Ive been doing yoga for a while but I still cant get the downward facing dog - my heals just wont touch the ground... A nice yoga friend told me Ive got the Achilles tendons off an old carthorse :) (See my fire-fly kickback vid if you dont believe me!) Do you have any tips or exercises on how I can get my heals closer to the ground? Btw nice lamp!
Another great video from Tara! I can never seem to progress beyond these beginner poses though...I'm freakishly stiff in my legs and hips, and the anticipation of the discomfort I know I'll feel when stretching makes me tense up more, thus defeating the whole point of doing the poses. Then I force myself to hold and breathe through until I feel fine. That can't be a good thing to do...
This is maybe a beginner level in Iyengar yoga but yoga is much more wider than the Iyengar yoga. You just should find the one which is suitable for you.
that may be your downward facing dog etc but you need someone like me to show them what their downward dog will really look like. nice video though, they look great.
I love your voice, and I love how simply this moves are, but also I feel like streching my muscles. Thank you very much

I luv Tara, but you don't teach beginners with lightning talk, especially the very first words; a little more patience and explaining is needed.

No, it improves flexibility...

i am an absolute beg in yoga, and my new found interest in yoga took me to your channel.
i had been subbed form some time now,
but i see the level of elasticity you posses is way too much for me.
so i gues yoga will continue to be a "future thing"
