Theyre not lying per se. Lying is a willful act to mislead someone contrary to the truth. They redefine the truth. So waterboarding isnt torture, and sleep deprivation and painful positions for prolonged periods arent torture. Just define techniques to not be considered torture and therefore arent torturous. It would be like throwing out human rights/geneva convention by defining a difference between POW and Enemy combatant.

The thing is,as if using torture wasn't evil enough, these people aren't getting a trial, or any legal council. So they have not even been proven guilty in a court of law. we're not nazi germany, and the fact that we are even having this debate shows how low we have sunk. We are not a Nazi socialist nation. @Polar515 I'm not for torture, however to say it never works would be to not understand how torture can be given. Statements can always be cross checked and verified for accuracy or wrongful information can lead to the death of a comrade.
