Any one know anything about Dickiebush Cemetery in Belgium? I visited my great grandpops grave 6 yrs ago, what a beautiful cemetery thats well looked after, any body any vid's of the place? I will visit again but don't know when, but obviously will be before i go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope
to this day less than 10% of all dead at ypres have been recovered and positively identified. and most were not identified or recovered until many years after the war. for example of 2,000 canadians killed at 2nd ypres, only 116 were identified right away, now about 250 have been, and many were not identified until as recent as the 1990's.
It always leaves me at dismay to see this waste of life. All those lads that could have had a life, a family and childern. Their death ordered by those that had not to fear the consequences of their decisions. I am not a supporter of death penalty but if some deserved it they are definitely part of it.
I live really close to what once was the Ypres Sallient. I do recognize 'le Canadien', deutschen Kriegsgräberstätte Vladslo and well, most of the places in this video.
Really nice and intimate movie, thanks for uploading.
I'm from belgium to, it sure was a living hell in ypres, the brother of my grandfather was killed in action there, allong with so many others. War is an unnecessry thing! Figthing kids may give trouble, but country leaders fighting is the worst because they stay out of harms way!!
hey you guys dont know me but my class went on a trip to France and Belgium in Late March through Early April. We toured many battlefields as well as the cemeteries. I just thought that it was interesting to see that another group went around the same time we did
I recently went on a school trip that seems to have done just the same, only it was for history. We stayed at the DeDraecke Youth Hostel, Ghent, Belgium. Where did you stay? It was very sad although I would love to do back. 4 days was not enough.
We had 4 days but a lot of that was travelling so it worked out at about 2 days looking at the war related stuff. 4 days was no way near enough, especially as it takes a while for the mass scale of the war to hit you. Can't remember off the top of my head where we stayed but i'll find out and get back to you.
Yeah Ross is good at this stuff. It was ages ago! It doesn't seem like it but when did we go...? I can't actually remember...but it was a long time ago.

Why couldn't his grandfather's brother have died if he's only 19...? His brother could have been 20 years older than him...
