wait until you guys get in the real military. you will look back and see how stupid and pointless all this was. how this has nothing to do with actually being in the military and arguing about it is trivial
@Decogue With that said, I assume you are in the military. While I respect your views and I agree that this training does not directly prepare you for what you will actually be doing in the military, I disagree that it is stupid and pointless. This in particular is a cadet's first day at school, it sets a tone of the discipline and structure you will encounter for the next four years of your college education. And so far the Institute's methods for over 171 years have produced great results.
@purp i understand what its done for. like you said i am in the military. ive been through my fair share of training. but i have also seen the end results of what training like this brings (not all) but there are some come to the fleet and believe that they have this training it takes the place of just plain intellegence. it brings arrogance to the fleet in some cases and just bad leadership. like i said...not everbody is like this.
@Decogue very true, im in nrotc and a prior enlisted once said "I promise you will never to any of this pointless shit when you get in the real navy, but for now you will do it and do it well" lol
@rack0730 whatever dude. At the end of the day, you're still the one that decided to search for VMI videos on youtube, and thought it would be cool to talk trash online. The bottom line is that we do more in 6 months of the ratline that you do for 9 months as a knob.
@rack0730 Wow, this comment is amazing. Way to represent Citadel. Just watching this, I have developed a high level of respect for VMI. I don't know much about their Corps, but this looks similar to our Freshman Orientation Week at Texas A&M. Squadron 20 C/O 2013. Thanks and Gig'em!
@DChillaxnig321 well 3rd class year did suck but I would much rather be a third than in the army. and end the end of the day I have a nice big diploma to show for it.
@purp I know. There was supposed to be a hint of sarcasm in that comment, but it's kind of hard to convey over the internet. I am excited to go, but I know it's going to sssssuuuucccckkkkk.

Whats up with the cadet third from behind in the lower line starting at 6:09. His heart is barely in it. He looks like he couldnt care less

@purp I.E. even though Lt. General Lewis "chesty" Puller only went to VMI for one year, he became the most well known marine in history.
