You insult the Sikh Religion when you say such a thing. Gatka was taught to Sikhs by our Prophet to help defend the people of India from Mughal oppression and it worked.

Gatka is based on that one Sikh can take on a thousand others, its taught so that armies can use it.

It kind of had to take the bloodshed and hyper aggression out of a warrior art and make it a non-contact martial art. I love the pure aggression of this style; it's tribal and the teaches you to fight more then one opponent right of the bat.

I mhyself do taekwondo and used to be a skeptic on the influence India had on martial arts however in the last three years and on youtube I've seen many styles of Indian art and I can truly say that without India variation and techniques in other arts particularly South East Asia would not have existed.

More or less markhi I agree but I think the whole aim of of aiming at the shield is to get control if you can consistently aim the dagger at the shield most likely when the time comes you can aim for the body. Besides most martial train in a similar way they practice kartas or set movements to improve stamina and timing this gatka drills are no different.
