Ever since the Sharks got Thornton, they've been at or near the top of the West in the reg season cus Joe has performed in the reg season. They have gone nowhere in the playoffs cus Joe has dissapointed in the playoffs, last year, they got to the final 4 for the first time cus Joe played better than usual. If he picks it up one more notch, the Sharks will win the cup, the rest of the team isn't a cup contender without him, if Joe doesn't perform, they just can't win, and it's been proven.

Joe scored 96 assists in '06 and 92 in '07 giving him back to back 90+ assist seasons, only 2 other guys have ever done that and their names are Wayne and Mario... and Thornton did it in a generation that produces a hell of a lot less goals than the generation in which Gretzky and Lemieux did it and no one else. (not saying Joe was a better playmaker than Wayne and Mario but he was better than just about anyone else, other than maybe Bobby Orr who once scored 102 assists as a defenseman).
