Everything up to DU was amazing and all different, but still very AFI.I was excited for their new album after STS because I wanted to see what direction they were going to take it...but man....did they mess that one up...it isn't that it's different, it's that it sucks majorly. They watered down their music and their message so much.

I disagree. TO me, DU is like AFI DOES AFI. Ya know what I'm talking about? There's a point a band gets at where they've peaked & now have a choice to make...either keep on eschewing standards & the mainstream and keep on making good, innovative music (doesn't mean it's THE SAME OLD SAME OLD, mind) or become a watered down version of some other people's idea of who they are. I think AFI took the latter, really. Their lyrics became more mumbo jumbo, and it was ridiculous. Like an AFI fan-band.
