I don't know for sure its future but I'm actually going to have to disagree with your outlook on it. I'm really liking hangouts. Its a great way to meet new people that your friends know. I've been in a number of them over the past few days and have met some really cool people. One of the many unique things it brings is really tieing live video into the network, something all other networks, including even youtube (which is google anyway), don't do well right now. I think it will survive.

@Urgo6667 Good comments. But it's not going to be a Facebook or Twitter killer. Maybe it will succeed in other areas -- video for you.
