  • I need help wiring my Kennwood dpx308u. I have a 1800 watt JL amp, !5in Kickers, and a capacitor

  • Exo! I thought you didnt do caps?

  • @Mississippiking03 - This is a bout 3 years ago lol

  • Do all capacitos need to be charged? Just owndering cas when i do this to mine the light is always off...

  • I HAVE THE SAME FUZE AS EXO OHHHH YEA!!! :D

  • @CARBIN01 - Nice! :)

  • So do you have to charge it every so often? I have had one for a couple years and my lights are dimming pretty bad now. I think it has gotten worse.

  • @ sparky and z6.....

winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics... whether you win or lose, you are still a retard.

  • good ol' exo with the "adult content only" music. ;)

  • @PJRehlaender - Porn Music Joke? LMAO

  • this will charge my capacitor?

  • @AJGR33NWR - YUP!

  • You don't have to charge them, just connect and spark , it will charge that way too.

  • I did this before I put the fuse in when wiring my capacitor and it did nothing so I just put the fuse in and it started sparking lol, so it obviously needed to be charged any idea why this did not work?

  • you dont have to charge your cap.... i just installed it

  • @Skyfighter89 - And you probably popped it :)

  • @EXOabigdeal nope works fine, 1 farad

  • The thing is, people get confused in the real purpose of a cap. A cap is not used to, cure or prevent dimming lights, change the way the system sounds or save the battery/alternator (all are misconceptions).

To undertsand the purpose you need to understand how they work.

A cap does it's best to keep the voltage at a certain level, but if the voltage changes so will the cap voltage. The cap just makes the change smoother.

  • @sparky3489 Everything you said is wrong... A capacitor does everything that you said is a misconception. (I'm an electrical Engineer) It holds a charge so that that when the Bass goes to draw large amount of power, it is drawn from the capacitor rather than directly from the battery/alternator.

  • @z67834 Then you'd better go and get your money back. This is the problem with EE's, they think they know something, but don't. I'm a 25+ year Electronics Technician that is a Certified IPC Specialist in J-STD-001, IPC-7711/IPC-7721.

A farad is the charge in coulombs which a capacitor will accept for the potential across it to change 1 volt.

Q = Q_{max}[1 - e^{(-t/RC)}] will show that you need a much bigger cap than is currently made on the market to make my first statement true. Do the math.

  • @sparky3489

So all of these reputable sties are wrong? I've provided quotes and I will send you the links in a message or something because i can't post them....

" large capacitors store energy for the amplifier to use on demand" FROM: Wikipedia

"The capacitor stores power, and provides the power to the stereo" FROM EHOW

" store the necessary power your amplifier" FROM:electronic warehouse education section

  • @sparky3489

I messaged you the links and also asked you to provide me a source of your information. If I am wrong I will have learned something new!

  • @z67834 I'm not saying caps are totally useless. But I am saying what I stated in my original post. "A cap is not used to, cure or prevent dimming lights..."

A cap will help, but not cure dimming lights.

This is where the electrical upgrade comes into play. Better battery, bigger alternator and install the Big 3.

  • How Do You Install The Wire With The ANL Fuse? Everytime I Tried It Would Touch My Battery And A Big Explosion of sparkes would Occur! Plz Help

  • @DjSkrape198 use the lightbulb trick he showed it discharges the power and u should be able to install without it sparking or arcing

  • @DjSkrape198 disconnect your ground battery cable man

  • Whats that light bulb called n were can I find one help?

  • heey i hooked up my cap today, and i was wondering? i seen alot of people charging the cap at the fuse with a light bulb?? i bought my cap, i read the instructions and it gave me a little light, and said to hook 1 prong on the postive coming from the battery then on the positive on the cap can you do it this was as well . to charge it ? it worked for me ... but im just wondering if its safe or not lol some please message me thankss.

  • do you have to do this everytime you get in the car, or just for installation???

  • Do you like EXO's capacitor charging video? If so, you'd probably like mine too. It also shows you how to do a few more things. =)

  • hey exo what if i dont have a capacitor do i still need to do that to put it my fuse

  • Hi EXO I just asked a question about charging the capacitator and again in this video you show this procedure...but why does this need to happen like this and moreover I trust it is only required once? Please explain. Regards, Alex

  • @alexroufs To my understanding its when you first put it in..So the cap can catch up with the power thats delieverd , so its like ur freshly installing everything

  • Hey everyone! I need help with THIS: I already have a Boss CX800-1600W CHAOS EXXTREME SUBWOOFER! But i have a little problem. I have 2boss 12" 800watts subwoofer + 2boss 8" 400watts SUBWOOFER + 1Boss 300watts tweeters 2x 150watts each. What amp can i add on to what i have already or what will play all those & still leave room for more power to be on the safe side. Let me know so i know which to buy. I'm still new to all this & Thank you

  • @calikalinfo pm me with everything clearly layed out and i can help you just pm me thanks

  • Thanks to everybody who watched this video of how to charge a capacitor and then went to my video of it. I also have a video on how to charge a capacitor with 2 batteries hooked up. Check it out if you need some help!!!

  • Gotta help me EXOcontralto........I did just as u showed it in the video....but in my case the bulb lights up but it doesnt dim abit...I hav kept it for around 10mins and it didnt dim!!! Does this mean a short or????? Please help ASAP!!!! Thank You!!

  • hey guys anyone could help me?

i got 3.5f cap and i cant seem to charge it, all wires are connected and when i try to charge it wit resistor but nothing happning, like display doesnt show anything... i checked with the meter wat it shows and it was showing 4dcv any suggestions wat im doing wrong?

  • Ok lights and all that other stuff is bullshit, all you gotta do is plug the cap and presto its charged...

  • Did you have the 12v power connected to the cap when you used the light bulb?

  • Do capacitors really help???? iv been told by my local audio shop that they are really just a bunch of cool looking lights and that i need a alternator. is this true?

  • So is that fuse only for the cap? Is it really necesary to put a fuse for the cap? Thanks a lot.

  • i have done this but my light never really goes out it dim. but never dies completely ...whats this indicate. thanks to anyone who responds!

  • @TheDarscon towards the end, it can be hard to tell if the light is really 'off' as I ran into the same thing... you won't know for sure unless its completely dark in the vehicle, but it will definetly reach a point where the light is off

  • @TheDarscon I just tried to charge my cap last night, and the same thing happened.. it rested at 10.6, and the light never went out!... I'm wondering if its lost its effectiveness, but when it put it back in, it cut down on dimming drastically, so its staying in for now

  • i am about to add the fabled big 3 and add a cap as well before i upgrade my subs. do you just need to charge your cap when you first install it? also on a side note since my subs and highs amps are both on the same power cable i imagine i should install my cap upstream of both? before one of my subs fried and my shit was working hard when the bass was really hitting hard i could tell it was robbing my highs and mids amp of power. the cap above both should fix this right?

  • @fatguyonthc your amps can't share the same wire, you must have a dist. block splitting the main wire to each amp... put the cap inline with either amp (recommend sub amp), and make sure all grounds go to the same spot.... the cap stores a charge and relieves stress on your electrical system, but your highs and mids not getting the right power is something non-related

  • @CoupeDeville23 It does split at a second fuse box in my car near my amps. I meant should it be on the amp side of the split or the main power cable side. When i am pushing it hard there is a noticeable SQ loss from my mids/highs mainly when there is alot of bass in a song. I guess its possible its just the bass affecting how i am hearing it.Since one of my type R's fried I havnt heard it.When I rewire I could run 2 sep. cables if it could help.Off topic: how bad is it to run a 2ohm amp at 1ohm?

  • @fatguyonthc it's on the amp side of the split.... main power to dist. block, then power to cap, then power to amp... everything grounded together... the bass must just be drowning out the highs/mids, and shouldn't be effected by the sub amp ...

  • @fatguyonthc love the SN by the way... 1 ohm is very dangerous, and not recommended... if those are dual 4 ohm Rs, I would get an Alpine PDX-1.1000, PDX-M12, or JL 1000/1 since they will provide ample output (1000rms split to the two subs) at 4 ohms... I used a RF P1000-1bd @ 1 ohm for years, and didn't have a problem, but it will cut back the life of the amp, and its efficiency overall... try not to run @ 1ohm if possible, and NEVER if the amp isn't CEA rated at that impedance

  • @CoupeDeville23 Its not its only stable to 2. I am getting a bigger more powerful sub since my remaining type R isnt going to last long on 1000 rms and i was just curious if I could run a single 15 at 1 ohm for the added power.

  • @fatguyonthc You won't be able to run a single 15 @ 1ohm, unless its a svc or dvc 1 ohm VC sub like an Audiobahn... If I were you, and if you like the Rs, just replace the burnt R with a new one, and get a Rockford P1000-1bd, which is BC rated at 1400watts rms @ 1ohm, so you'd be throwing about 700 rms to each sub.... otherwise get one of the amps I listed above and run them at 4 ohms... don't get any 15, unless you're shooting for SPL, bc you can't get good SQ out of a sub that size

  • @CoupeDeville23 I am getting an AA Havoc 15. Was going to get a Fi Q and possibly may go back to that. Still trying to figure out box deminsions and if I want to have to buy 2 new amps or just 1. Will add another a bit after. I did the 2 twelves thing for long enough and there is no way in hell i will ever buy another Alpine sub. It blew on less than the rated RMS.

  • @fatguyonthc Alpine subs definetly can reach their RMS if not more... if the sub blew, then the amp wasn't tuned right... the subs will reach audible distortion, long before the coils actually burn.... I just hope you use a digital multimeter to tune the amp next time you get a new sub....

  • @CoupeDeville23 There are a few videos on here that prove Type R's will fry fairly quickly on anything more than their RMS. Since I have a completely stock power system and an Alpine amp you would think it is pushing under what it claims is its 1000 watt RMS. I have a MRP V power M1000 mono btw. So my first hand experience tells me no they can't handle their listed RMS. Not for much more than their warranty says they can anyways. Mine fried 2 weeks after the year warranty ran out.

  • @fatguyonthc It absolutely did not distort before it blew either. Also it's sister sub is still going on 1000 watts all by it self with no problems. If I turn my sub out up much past -3 it distorts and pops as you would expect. This tells me they make defective products. One blows one is good. Their design prevents it from being fixed. Shit subs. Blow a Fi or an AA and you send it back and they fix it. PLUS THEY TAKE TWICE THE RMS AND COST THE SAME. Seems like an easy decision to me.

  • @fatguyonthc Fi might get louder, but the reason they are much easier to repair is because they are made of really cheap materials... you should never have to worry about all that though.... if a subwoofer blows, no offense, its the user's fault.... I've been working with and installing car audio for 15 years and have NEVER blown a sub.... even though I like Alpine, I'm not a huge fan of their subs, but they are still much better quality than a brand like Fi... I was just trying to helo,,,

  • @CoupeDeville23 I don't know what I could have done differently. 2 500 watt rms 2 ohm subs wired in parallel to a 1000 watt rms mono amp. 1 failed 1 didnt. The only thing I could possibly think of is a problem with subsonic tuning that made the sub unstable (the voice coil rubbed its self to the point it flattened out and shorted). If the other one goes I will open it up to see if the wear pattern was the same.

  • @fatguyonthc you hit the nail on the head... you had the right amp in terms of power, but not using a subsonic filter, especially in a bandpass is a recipe for trouble... as a coil starts overheating and is being pulled from a linear movement, you can hear audible distortion... if you didn't use a DMM or o-scope to set the gain, that would play a big role, as sending a square wave would no doubt burn the coils over time

  • @CoupeDeville23 The M1000 has sub filters but are the ones in the amp not good enough? I truly never heard distortion when they were in their bandpass. I called my installers yesterday and talked to them about gain settings. They set the gain based on the clipping from the head unit using an oscilloscope. This really might be one of the rare cases where a sub failed because it is a shit sub. Or maybe they fucked up setting the gain. Or maybe they fucked up tuning the box. IDK.

  • @fatguyonthc The M1000 has a low pass filter as does all amps, but if the gain isn't set right, then you can still easily overpower the subwoofer... Yeah, if they used an o-scope, that is the BEST way to set amp gains and make sure you're not reaching clipping.. but then if you turned the subwoofer control and bass settings on the deck back up afterwards (gains are set with everything 'flat) it would lead to clipping and eventually destruction of the coils

  • @CoupeDeville23 Soon I will have a new sub and will either learn the hard way or the easy way about RMS ratings. Right now I would bet on my mothers grave that Alpine can't take their RMS. Maybe in a few months I will be saying the same thing about AA Havocs. Wish me luck. Going sealed this time so it will be pretty cut and dry.

  • @fatguyonthc Just make sure you set the gains properly with an o-scope or DMM...I installed a system recently where I hooked a Rockford P1000-1bd to two 12 Type Rs at 1 ohm. They were each getting 700rms, 200 watts more than their rms rating (last gen Rs). Since I tuned the amp properly, he can bang on them all day and not reach square wave distortion or excessivly heat the coils

  • @fatguyonthc its funny cause the subs i have actually seen take the rms thats posted is like power acoustik, performance teknique and such forth...i loved the icbm5912 by PT. by far better than the w6...

  • @fatguyonthc Whatever you say... two of my closest friends both have the same setup, single Type R 12 hooked to an MRP-M1000... since I used a DMM to set their gains, they are nowhere near audible distortion... subs will no doubt distort heavily before they burn out... the voice coils need to get really hot for awhile before they burn, which is really the only way to blow a sub, unless you plug it into a wall socket

  • @CoupeDeville23 My box was a bandpass in a trunk in Florida in 95 degree weather in a Black car. I can't imagine that helped. Also though like I said in my other post I am not truly sure if it burned because of the huge rub spot on the coils. It seems it actually physically failed internally.

  • ok ? whats the point of charging your cap? and discharging it wtf lol ? cant you just plug it in and hope fer the best instead of doing that please some one tell me i wanna no lol thanks !!

  • @northsideskate hope for the best? if its not charged, it will actually rob more power from your system... if you need to ask 'why', look up how a capacitor works, then you'll understand why it needs to be charged

  • I just bought a 500 micro farad (1/2 farad) cap and i tried installing it today and after i charge it it discharges in less then 2 minutes, is this normal? and do i have to constantly keep removing the fuse and charge it after each use? btw my system is a dual 600w amp and 2 10" rockford fosegate p1's

  • @SledHead534 completely normal... a dual 600watt amp doesn't need a cap though, as 600 is probably its 'max' or overinflated power

  • @jokerm1207

Yep. So the negative of your capacitor should be grounded to the chassis not going to your amplifier. The positive terminal should be attached to both the wire leading to your battery and the wire going to your amplifier.

  • i need someone to respond!!! i got a capacitor and my friends were more excited to hook it up than me and i drove around. shut off the car. then when i tried to turn on the car it was completely dead. i am pretty sure they hooked it up wrong. they hooked it up like this...Battery-----(4 Guage wire)------capacitor---amplifier. all that is connected to the capacitor is the 4 guage positive wire going from my battery directly to my amplifier. i unhooked the cap and tried to jump start but nothing

  • A dumb question for u

i just got a rockford foose gate capacitor

and do i gotta recharge it or any of that?

or can i just plug it in and thats it? help thanx

  • A cap is like a second battery, it stores energy from the car battery, so that when your subs hit, they take the power from the cap and not your battery, therefore your headlights stay lit and your bass is smoother and can sustain long notes without fading away. The rule is I think, 1 farad per 1000 watts, and I don't know what a farad is so yeah...

  • wat ecackly does a "cap do plz tell me im just getting in to car audio n e wed sites of informatoin wud b great about any of it lol

  • in this setup is the "front facing wire" connected to the battery and is the "rear facing wire" connected to the capacitor? And is the capacitor already connected to the amp, grounded, mounted, etc before you do all of this?

  • Couple quick questions: 1. While you are chargin tha capacitor is it alread plugged up? 2. What are your steps for connecting the capacitor to the system( hook up power wire, then amp wire, then ground)?

  • Haha nice, my cap blew da fuck up today cuz i didn't charge it properly. haha i was to lazy to charge the shit and ive took it apart several times without a slow charge and nothing happened, but this time i was being stupid and turned on the deck without letting it sit so it turned it on immediately being at 0.0 volts so then it just looked like a smoke grenade went off in my car and shit smells horrible. but ima get a ho alt soon. even though a cap doesn't do anything but sit there for looks.

  • how fast would a 20 farad cap discharge?

  • Why is this done for?

  • make a video on how to install the equalizer..

  • lol use are all pussies, Ive ran no fuse on 2 duel voice coil 500 watts rms and the 1800 watt clarion mono-block and haven't blown a fuck did that for 3 years lol

  • @slammedwagon yea and you are a dumb ass that's going to be running out of your car screaming my car is on fire! When you have a sudden spike in power and you don't have a fuse there to monitor it. You seem like the kid that bought his first sub and said "fuck the amp I have a battery hooked up to my car I will just convert my power cable directly to my sub" You have no idea what you are doing when it comes to audio and I feel sorry for anyone 15 feet of your car when it blows.

  • i have a fuse in the same spot, but in order to take my fuse out, i have to take out a screw and pull the wires off each side. if i charge my capacitor using the method in the video, will sparks fly when i try to put the wires back into the fuse?

  • i have i cap and i reinstalled my system in my truck but the cap never came on. i had to loosen and tighten the screws a bit to get it to appear but immediately it shut off again..do i need to charge it or what do i need to do?

  • @jd4unt it's probably safe to charge it before jumping to other conclusions because a lot of caps can seem broken or damaged when they aren't charge. It's like buying a new phone once you buy it you want to let it fully charge because that can determine how long it lasts.

  • This is only the first time you install it right? And you need to discharge it when getting rid of the cap?

  • wow bro your vids have changed a lot since this in a short space of time!

my cap seems to discharge in like 3mins after powering off.... so i used a relay with a couple of resistors to charge the cap slowly like that, till its charged and the relay flicks closed to make that high power connection ;)

  • @barevids - Good tips man!

Everyone go check out my man BareVids Channel!

  • @EXOcontralto hey bro how long should i wait till my light dims

  • @EXOcontralto dude where u get that bad ass fuse holder?

  • @HomeBoyMuzik773 i believe it looks like a Tsunami fuse holder. Kicker makes a similar one as well

  • @MrKdub318 can u send me a link about both.. i been looking but cant find anything ty

  • @HomeBoyMuzik773 Its an ANL fuse holder.. the smallest I know of is a 60 amp fuse witht he biggest at a 250 amp.. anything bigger and I would recommend a circuit breaker instead of a fuse.

  • guys, is it possible that my sub makes scratching noises because i dont have a capacitor, i dont think its the voice coil cause it would make the noise all the time. the noise mostly hapens on certain bass and also the lights on the amps dim. sub is pioneer ts-w8102spl, and i have 2 jbl amps giving 1500rms each @2ohms and together they need 320amps. the battery says it gives 600 cranking amps and 72amp hour. what farrad cap will i need for 300watts rms and about 6000 peak? wil 5 farad be enough?

  • @gaspower70 - Having no capacitor has no affect of the coils of a subwoofer - if you hear anything like scratches it means your coil is either rubbing on the metal, or sand got into the gap between the coil

  • @gaspower70 tell you what bro, that sounds similar to something i experienced a while ago - when SOME amps clip and usually at higher freqs like 40 - 60hz, the sub seems to make a scratching or 'mechanical' noise like youre saying,... i was realy confused untill i tried it on a better amp and found the sound had gone! The amps youve got sound fine, but if the lights are dimming thats like 9v drops and slaughtering RMS - id suggest you upgrade your alternator or get multiple batteries set up. :)

  • @barevids thanks man, i think im gonna be getting a 5 farad capacitor to fix this problem. will 5 farad be good enough and should fix the prob right?

  • @gaspower70 the 5Farad will reduce dimming on short sharp notes like bass kicks, but if a song plays a long bass note the cap won't have any effect to the power loss :( Caps dont give you more power, they just hold some of it to be delievered at an instance. Be sure to still get the cap it will help a little - but parallel batteries are realy the ultimate way of boosting your power :)

  • @barevids ok, but for now thers no way i can get money for more batteries so once i get the cap i should notice abit of this problem dissapearing if this is the issue am i right? so at least i will be able to determine the problem

  • @gaspower70 Yeah with a 5farad you should notice a difference :). Outa interest, how much you paying for it? Ive seen caps up to 50farad around before, would be interesting to compare the price.

  • @barevids il be paying 100euros for it with about 10 of them for the shipping. from my country it will cost at least 250euros cause our shops over price thingss here in malta, its disgusting :/

  • @gaspower70 ahh, that sucks dude! Tell you what i just found if youre insterested, a brand new 20Farad cap (!!!) for £99 with a tenner shipping to your country. Its a 'BOSS 20 Farad DIGITAL BASS Power Bank Capacitor'. Type that into ebay if you wanna have a look, that should make a massive difference to your problems :) 5Farad will still be good though. Good luck ;)

  • @barevids yes, car audio security is the place i was gonna buy the 5 farad cap to be honest. its also where i bought the amps and sub from. they have good service. so there will be a big difference from the 5 farad to the 20? what about the 30 farad cause thats not too pricey neighter.

  • Yeah significant difference between 5 and 20/30Farad, definately go for the 30F one if you cant afford the batteries. Just be careful how you charge a cap of that size - Use a 12v bulb (or 5w resistor) in series until its fully charged and the bulb goes out. If the cap doesnt hold the charge between drives then youll need to install a relay, ill be doing a video on it soon a few people have been asking. Caraudiosecurity is a great service, not the cheapest, but they take good care of you :)

  • @barevids what do you mean by "If the cap doesnt hold the charge between drives" i dont understand that much and what are relays? il be sure to see the vid

  • @gaspower70 Ill send you it in a message :)

  • @gaspower70 at the spead a speaker goes you wil not hear the scratches because they are too short

its probably because your source of energy is not stable, that where capacitor come in play

  • @gaspower70 get a big 3 done and get a 2nd battery and isolator...bang for buck ratio goes a lot farther than using a band-aid. 600ca is really weak for your application. you drive a small car?

  • wow, i had no idea this many ppl did not know how to properly charge one. you dont really have to use a light. most caps these days come with a supplied resistor that will slowly charge it...never seen someone use a light bulb, but i suppose your using that in place of the resistor.. haha nice

  • Safely... you pussys. My one charges everytime i plug it in cause i build the whole thing removable. Theres nothing to it as long you dont charge and discharge it 5 times in few seconds.

  • @QBMan - By your comment, I can clearly tell you have no idea what you just said...

  • @EXOcontralto HAHAHA! I was confused by that dudes comment! WTF is he talking about?

  • @EXOcontralto I have an idee...although i dont just build a cap in my car one time a year i do lots of stuff with electroniks so dont you tell me xD

  • how long does it take around for a full charge ?

  • @ROMOMANIA84 5 times resistance, in ohms, times the capacitance in farads...

  • is that any kind of light??? or a special 12 v one?

  • @specialformula14 - Nope, just a regular old 12 volt light bulb - it acts as the resistor, but more indicative.

  • @EXOcontralto thx man...... i started reading coments.. and wha laa.. the your coments answered my question.. sry for the reapost.

any sugestion on a amp for a orion HCCA 10 or 12 "

  • @EXOcontralto before i charge my capacitor is it okay to take out the fuse and then hook up all my amps and ground wires and then use the resistor in place of the fuse to charge the capacitor with everything hooked up??? i have a brand X 4 farad capacitor with led lights and display

  • Why do you want to charge it up slowly?

  • Do you want to blow it up the first time you use it?

  • @EXOcontralto I see... So if I disconnect it for 24h then I need to charge it up slowly again? I cant understand why u need to do that with car caps and not with any other caps.

  • do i need to connect the negative wire to chases before i charge it ?

  • Yes - You can then use ANY 12v light bulb as a in line resistor on the positive power wire to slowly charge your capacitor.

  • i have my car step up in the house but i cant get my cap to charge i just bought it and insted of a light they gave me a resistor can u plzs help

  • you can use a resistor, but you just wont be able to tell when your system is fully charged. one way you could check is to use a multimeter (in current mode) in series with the resistor and hold the resistor in place until the multimeter stops moving. message me on my page and I can show you a diagram of how to set it up...

  • where do you get a light like that

  • Capacitors are supposed to come with one.

  • my capacitor won't hold a charge the light in the middle keeps diming with the beat :(

  • I'm intrigued, let me know what you come up with as to why it possibly won't hold a charge.

  • Look up the specs on your cap, might be going into what they call "sleep mode" but shouldn't be going in and out that fast.

  • do u have to do that everytime u want to listen to u stero

  • no, only when you get a new cap and it needs to be initially charged.

  • Nalas, eat shit faggot, hope you die in a grease fire for being a cunt.

  • @ixiBoneCrusheRixi

Your comment to Nalas made me lol for a good minute. "hope you die in a grease fire for being a cunt" i HAVE to use that.

  • do the capacitors turn off when the car goes off or does the screen still stay on?

  • @Msp2011 it should go off

  • @Msp2011 if you run a remote wire to your amps it will turn off when the amp turn off

  • @Mikelansing23 half pass the monkeys ass and quarter to his dick did that help? *dumbass*

  • u dont have to be an ass hole cock face

  • dude what the fuck did i even say to you? better yet did i say something to you? because i only commented on 3 comments on this and you werent one of them YOU need to not be a ass hole i sent one to naum18 another to mikelansing and another to some guy that said something about a amp that i didnt know i never said shit to you go fuck off bitch

  • what you said to Mikelansing23 was completely unnecesary asswipe.

  • ooooh well i gues your right im sorry about what i said

  • hey bro please respond to this wut happens if you dont charge it and installed it just like dat

  • where do i get that light

    it has dual 0gauage inputs

i had it fused with 100A at each input (so i had all together i had 2x100A and 1x300A up under the bonnet

mtx recomend 150A at each input do you think i should try charging my systrm up like on this video

as the story contines i got my am back fixed, i took my systrm to an audio shop askd thm if my amp works thy wired it up n its still not wrkin:( gona get set off n i might get the new thuder 4000rms at cost price :D

  • Where can i get that lightbulb i got a use capacitor and i got to charge it and what is it call

  • i have a mtx thuder x300d i wired it up without an cap n i blew my amp wen i connectd my battery terimmal ther was an big spark i had all the polarity right av wiree up plenty of sound systerms

i have got it fixed now and i want to hear it pump my orion do you think there may be a capacitor built inside the amp? dose anyone knw where i colud of gone wrong?

  • @nazum18

I will asume that you fused your system correctly, i didnt see you mention it in your statement. My theory is that you have too much draw current, check the apmpere of you fuse to make sure its correct for your system. Also, an amp is an Integrated Circuit which contain many caps. Also you should try grounding your system first before connecting your power leads. Let me kno if this helps

  • niiiiiiiice comment just taught me a few things i didnt know thanks hahaha :)

  • @nazum18 iiiii? dont know man the only amp and cap comba i know of is at walmart called a farad micro but other then that i have no idea my buddies system wasnt working and he only had 2 12's and he got the battery changed and they came on i never heard of that before so heheh exo? you got any idea what went wrong? well buddy i know a good deal about car audio but theres a few things im not knowledge on so i can answer a few things but i cant get em all hehe:)

  • @sk8erandp8er

No caps are used to provide an extra boost of power to the amps to maintain a constant power level and keep the music playin. My car doesn't have enough power to support my system so I put in a capacitor and haven't had any problems since. And If you turn it up enough to blow your sub it's gonna blow even with a cap

  • so im still a little confused, should i remove the fuse cuttin power to my system the wire the cap up fully to power wire ground, and amp the charge it, or should i connect i to my power wire and ground, charge it then disonnect power again to attach it to the amp

  • I got 2 10" Rockford fosgate punch 2 and a mtx audio thunder 8000

  • The capacitor has it's own ground wire and the amp has it's own ground wire right? And with 2 amps do I run the power cable from the capacitor to both amps?

  • @paintking142 are caps used just to help prevent the sub form blowing?

  • @sk8erandp8er no they are used to keep power going to them at times of high level bass they store energey

  • Yo do u no how big of a box I will need for my 2 10" Rockford fosgates and my 10" mtx audio thunder 8000

  • every subwoofer has a 'recommended' enclosure... check manufacturer specs... I don't know what Rockfords you have, but if they are P1s, they should be in a sealed enclosure 1.0 cubic feet per chamber or smaller, unless you go ported, then it should be in a 1.5... if they are bigger subs like P3s, the recommended is 1.0-1.25 sealed, or 1.75 ported...

  • were did you get that light the one that you use to charge?

  • It's just a 12v light -

  • so question you gotta charge your cap before you use it correct? so if you do that and you have a kill switch in the vehicle does it need to be charged everytime, my kill switch cuts power to everything.

  • hey exo does the capacitor stay on after the car is off? is this normal?

  • ya eljorge thats normal mine did it to i just snipped the wire to the led but ya that means its got power.

  • I know you weren't asking me, but yes... whenever there is a voltage drop or increase, the capacitor (if it has a display) will show the current voltage... it's normal

  • i just installed 1 and i dident charge it, works fine, it power's up when i start the truck then shuts off like 5 min later then comes back on again when it needs more power

  • ok wtf im lost. i have a 1000000uf cap. unknown brand. how do i install it in my suby gt-b wagon? do i have to do something before i hook it up to my amp?? i have a sony xplod 1200w 2 ch amp. wen i put the power wires on the cap it just sparks an does nothing. nothing on the display ether
