If you are looking for more views you could do a side-by-side typing sound-test of the Razer's and the Steelseries, especially the Black Widow (most widely used of pro players I believe). I mention this since keyboards, unlike say earbud headphones can be returned post-purchase.

I have this keyboard. Its gr8 but its space button swinks, like some old rusty spring and space button seems to sometimes hit like 2 times when u hit only once and sometimes it stucks to botttom.

I don't think people understand mechanical switch keyboards. They are noisy depending on how you type yes, but the accuracy and feel are far greater than any cheap membrane or chicklit keyboard you can put your hands on. Anyone who claims that this keyboard lacks quality just doesn't know what they are talking about. @Gab3y This one has n key rollover. You can press any combination of keys and they'll all register (even all of them at the same time). The main draw are the Cherry MX Black switches; each key has a separate switch on a quality pcb board. These things are spill resistant, high quality, ps/2 means n key rollover and zero latency. Typing on a mech board feels a lot better and they last pretty much forever under tough conditions (many are 20+ years old).

I own the Steelseries 7G and it's ok. Stay away from this keyboard if you're playing games the need fast side to side movements. Why? Because the springs on this mechanical keyboard is either too high or stiff and pressing down on it takes more force than other mechanical keyboard.

if you touch type you won't bottom out the switches and it will be practically silent, however if you do not touch type, or touch type very heavily you will bottom out the keys (which is pointless since they activate halfway down) and each key will hit the backplate, making lots of annoying noise...

Also, depending on what surface your keyboard is resting, it will resonate a variable amount.

That depends entirely on the switches used.

If you use the blue switches, then you actually have a small clicky sound everytime you press the button down.

If you use brown switches, you won't. The sound would be the sound of the keycaps hitting the bottom of the keyboard, meaning that you HIT THE KEYS TO HARD. :)

@01sean Its the whole point of the keyboard pretty much. Those old IBM keyboards are amazing for high end gaming. All of the "gamer keyboards" you see today with fancy lights are junk. Steelseries seem to be the only one that actually know what gamers want. Take a look at the Steelseries 6G. Its 100% identical to the old IBM keyboards, but in black.

@AKhellbindeR - It isn't identical to the IBM Model M keyboards. Those use buckling spring mechanical switches while the 6Gv2 uses Cherry MX black switches. Both have very different feel even though they are mechanical.

If you want the IBM Model M style, Unicom bought the rights to produce them and they still do. FWIW, I own the 6Gv2 and it is fantastic.  :)

@assimunch - I own a Filco with brown switches and the Steelseries. I prefer the Steelseries, not only because of the switch type but also because it is denser and has a better texture on the keycaps.

Keyboards come down to personal preference, but as someone who owns both I figured I'd chime in. :)

Haven't actualy gotten around trying myself, but this guy might be bottoming out the keys as hitting the frame of board with keycap itself. MX switches should acctuate(give signal) about half way so no need to bottom those things like on cheap membranes.

@Ekaros no, not these switches. They are MX black and they are linjear so they shouldn't click. The sounds is because this guy is bottoming them out on every key. The just accuate half way down & they should have the same pressure all the way down.

But I'm wondering if you can feel when these acctuate, because if you don't I don't want it.
