So, tell me, should I be concerned? I'll be using to game and record videos, etc. nearly daily. I really need to know if it will be a problem or if I should go ahead and grab it.

@Maximus317 many cards ave had heating issues, but if your card works proprely, just keep in mind Radeon cards always run hotter, it's best to wait a year for a third party company like GIGABYTE to polish the card and create a more efficient model wit better cooling.

And make sure to buy the EVGA GTX 590, not the ASUS model.

ASUS underclocks they're GPUs.

@1Adr1an6 Well, with the Alienware website they just say nVidia GeForce GTX 590 (3GB), they don't say whether it's EVGA or ASUS.

Either way, I think I'm going to settle with the GTX 580, I hear good things about it and have read nice reviews. I just want something that will hold out for a good 3-5+ years and be effective. Thank you for your response! :) I didn't know ASUS underclocks their GPUs. Interesting.

That flickering is probably a driver issue. I always had AMD and now I'm buying my first Nvidia, a 590 GTX, I find they're very stable. But I think you're just a Nvidia fanboy. Get propper drivers.

@DazhFX I had less problems with AMD in terms of drivers and performance than Nvidia. My GTX 560 Ti died in less than 2 weeks (also gave me a BSOD, audio issues, and more). Still RMAed for a new one. My Radeon HD 6970 hasn't had an issue at all, though it runs hotter and louder than my 560 Ti, but that's expected from a card of it's kind.

I remeber that I had 9250 and 9600, both are alright except the fonts and some of the words appear to be missing, and I decided to switched to Nvidia 6600. I am running the MSI GTX 550 Ti, nothing wrong with it, though, it is running a little hot, between 35-42 degree C.

AMD and Nvidia are pretty much neck in neck. Physx is obsolete. Very few games use it and the games that use it look like crap or use a horrible engine (Metro 2033 for example). CUDA gives no benefit in games and is only useful in rendering. In terms of gaming Nvidia doesn't have an advantage.
