  • "let me give you a closer look on how I like to hold the stick" ;)

  • Not a big fan if the jump shot, but this does look like a decent way to try it. He's shooting into the table, instead of lifting the cue ball. Looks like a pretty good shot. Most pool halls don't like people jumping or masse. Nice work though. Also, I personally think they should make players use a regular cue to jump balls. Not a midget cue.

  • good video. i normally jump the other way, but your arguments are valid so it's worth to try it this way and see the difference.

  • Hi, I can use this method only when its near the rail, outside the rail i cant jump using this method and the other method. Any tips?

  • @coregunner55 grow taller. acquire larger hands.

  • Thanks I can't wait to try.

  • good job and thanks, but could u just hit the damn ball...

  • Not only is the overhand technique better, its the only legal way to do the shot in many leagues. Many leagues have the rule: "No 'scooping' to jump the cue ball. Jump shots must be struck above the centre of the cue ball".

Great video, by the way. It's very easy to learn from.

  • @Persadish

lol. underhand jump also hits the ball legally.

    scooping is for tards.

  • Since watching this I have been able to use this technique which has improved my jump shots. I can now jump with ease. Thanks for this instructional video.

  • Very nice & helpfull video. thanks.

  • very good my friend.. i like this game very very much.. and i was searching this video a long time..

thank you very very much ;)

  • maybe if you are 5'6" like this guy.. but try doing this as a 6'6" guy.

  • @M4N1F3570R Like he said, at the end of the day, it's preference and comfort.

  • @M4N1F3570R Just bend the knees a little man haha, I'm almost up there with ya and know what you mean

  • Very helpful. I just got a break jump cue and I haven't spent any time learning how to jump, but I will definitely give this a go.

One thing tho, I definitely wouldn't do the splits attempting to get a low angle jump shot. I'd probably try the underhand method lol. I laughed out loud when you spread your legs so far to get low. But hey, if it works, that's all that matters.

    Best.

  • after gettn my ass handed to me in 9ball on the casino tour..itaught myself how to jump...VERY helpful technique...made the game alot easier...i to use the overhand.

  • You make it look like a piece of cake! The over handed method is great advice.

    Thank's for the details.

    Ramona

  • great instruction. thank you sir.

  • how low can you go

  • Yo fredm4315, if you would like to get better in basketball, you ought to start following a actual training plan. I used widely known nba training program here at (50 inch vertical [dot] com). I didn t even tell this to my basketball teammates yet lol

  • i like you video it help me i been doing the other method for years but i lke this one alot i been playing for 30 yrs now so i guess you can say a old dog can learn new tricks

  • Awesome!! I am so happy I found this clip.

I could never jump before but I just got finished successfully jumping the cue ball 20 times in a row. Amazing. And so easy. Very little power needed. Like he says, just a flick of the wrist. Important to hit just below center (1/2 tip) when looking down at the ball. Thanks again!!!

  • thxs dude. for the tip.really helpful.

  • With me I follow this but the ball didn't take off

  • NICEE. ty.

  • thanks for making it easier fred...

  • Thanks for the good video. I have just got into trying jump shots and this has helped with the basics.

  • Hey Fred,

Interesting video, I build cues and have just created a 5.62 oz. Dart jumping style cue that will go over a ball at 1mm of space between the balls.Nevel is the only guy I've personally seen jump a ball from that distance. This cue helps a normal person jump balls as close as a cube of chalk. If you see this send a reply to me at the ya-hoody, I'll send a reply back quickly.

  • thanx this was a very helpful video

  • Brilliant instruction, I'm working on this and I've made a few good jumps and I don't consider myself as a good player.

    Thanks a lot!

    Greetings from Chile!

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW, you said 20 min, it took me 10 min to master short jumps. I did not have jump stick i used std shaft (a bit short though) with regular tip but could not jump much, i took the tip off and shot with the plastic fearel waht a difference, i started jumping, i guess i need to buy jump tip, what you recommend. Again thanks much, you are much better than Bert Kinister i could not jump much his way.

    keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for the great comments. I'm using a Bungie (not sure of the spelling). It's a fairly cheap que at about $80. It's also very light and has a phenolic tip, both of which really help make the process more effortless.

  • One good advice to everyone, until you master this jump shot, use a piece of cloth (same thickness as table cloth) put it under the cue ball, to keep burn marks from your cloth, also, it would not hurt to cover the table precious wood work so when cue ball jumps up, it would not dent it.

Again, i cannot thank you enough, i will pay you something when i win next match.

  • Just wanted to comment on the phenolic tip that you mentioned; a lot of tournaments and leagues are banning the use of phenolic tips, so consider whether you will be playing in any before purchasing a new jump/break stick.

  • @fredm4315 pretty good vid man...one thing u didnt touch on was follow through...lot of new jumpers will wonder what they are doin wrong...and most of the time..thats what it is.

  • @poolshooter2007 If you want an even better jump cue spend a little bit more money and get a Keith Kustom Kue. His jump cues make it ridiculously easy to jump with. 6oz total. Anyone could jump with his cues. Also I have a playing cue(16.5oz) made by him. I can also jump with the full cue for like half ball jumps. Check him out you wont be disappointed in his work.

  • Very good instruction. I have used a similar approach, but with the stick between my pointing and middle finger. It is also very effective but I will try this method as well. Good work and keep it coming!
