You say no more abusing the car because its european? You f#cktard, It's not abusing, it's DRIVING, the way the car was designed to be driven. Spirited driving in a japanese car is ABUSING a japanese car. Now go rev your car to 7000 every day, because thats what I've been doing in my e30 for the last 4 years straight... Abusing a european car is also known as RALLY
@wwx1 with a short shifter, a real short one, it requires more force to change through the notchiness that a short shifter elicits. go drive a car with a short shifter, and report back to me and see how fast and smoothly you can shift gears
@elgatoliso not agreeing with him on changing gears, i dnt have any comments on it i just wanted to watch the car however, a short shifter, one with a really short throw, is just simply that a shorter throw. It doesnt make it harder to change gears, the only time its harder is when som1 goes DIY and cuts the shifter shorter like the past owner of my mates rolla, however my actual nismo short shifter shifts smoothly and effortlessly =)
@elgatoliso my car has a short throw in it and brass shift linkage bushings (makes it even notch-ier) and i dont shift that slow... you just need to practice. thats how you get better, just rip it through the gears. the more you do it, the better and faster you will become.
Man I've never seen so many douche bags criticizing how someone holds a gear shift knob or steering wheel in my life. I can only imagine how self-conscious these idiots are. If they ever get behind the wheel they'll be paying more attention to how their wrists look than to what is in front of them on the road. Go back to high school you uppity losers. The guy in this video can drive. Just accept it.
actually, you're critizing the wrong person, I, elgatoliso, am the person driving in this video lol.
and yes i did teach myself, thanks! its actually 1988 325i, but thats old...i did get another one. i now have a 1990 325i since 2008, and have done an engine swap to it. i put an m50b25TU in it. slammed on 17"s :D
e30s are sexy cars man. You have a vid of the "new" 90 325? Got a 90 316i, (bought it for the body and interior before anybody asks) Still not sure what swap is going in yet though.
@elgatoliso change the shrot shifter back to stock and then us a z3 gearknob, the a 2.7 stroker, bilstien shocks or ground control coilovers and pollybush it and there wont be much will keep with it.
@quesnoy1 I shift often very fast and when using 2nd and 4th gear I often use just 2 fingers I also relax my arm on the middle abutment I also shift gears hard without hesitate to avoid damage to the gearbox However 2 fingers and arm relaxing is far from what you see in the vid I learned from a pro race driver I don't care how people shift gears just mention how I do it :) Nice bimmer btw
Man, this @elgatoliso fool is a douche. I think this guys is a pretty good driver. I like the rev-matching downshift too. Hey, @elgatoliso. Do you even know what a rev-matched down-shift is??? And before you reply, learn how to speak English, so you don't come off as a five-year-old.
Nice job, @rogierveireman. You really taught yourself??? Well done. Nice car, too. Is that a 325 IS? What year? I'm looking for one on Craigslist right now.
@Landser1853 have you ever heard of flexibility? apparently not...and before you tell me to "go and driver better," how about you go and grow some grammar skills. please, i don't even consider cars like the ones you're considering. :/
@rogierveireman seriously. did you think before you posted that? i don't know what you define as real driver. i bet you couldnt even tell me how manual transmission works without using google. don't even bother replying to this because i know you would do just that.
short shifters, in this vid are notchy. my UUC adjustable height short shifter, in this vid, was very notchy. any method of shift hard and fast ill use. so me your video of you driving...ill bet you're not a real driver.
@lardrat I don't know where you're coming from pal, but most American cars are automatic. Besides, manual transmissions have every advantage over their Automatic counterparts, including but not limited to; Fuel economy, car control, Driver alertness, transmission reliability and simplicity, etc. Besides, it's more fun to drive stick
@1337gam3r07 thank you for your reply. I have never driven an automatic. I was taught to keep both hands on the wheel whenever possible and have also learned this through experience. I find the many videos like this on Youtube, where the driver is holding the wheel in a very poor and vague way, quite disturbing.
@lardrat if you learned it through experience, you must be a pretty bad driver. Let me guess, you tried driving with 1 hand, and something bad happened. I find it quite disturbing that YOU'RE condemning shifting with 1 hand on the wheel. Just becuase you had a bad experience with it, doesn't mean I will have a bad experience with it. Listen, pal, don't come here telling me what is proper and what isn't. 1. this is the internet, so you are full of shit. 2. I know you drive with 1 hand aswell
@elgatoliso Highway Code rule 160: While it is viewable on the internet these days, It is also available on paper from all good (UK) book shops. And has been for a hundred years.
@rogierveireman just so you know...i am not a racecar driver. i dont know why people are so fucking hell bent on the way i went from 2nd to 3rd... i did it in this video. so what...i've said it before that i just learned how to drive manual here, and i taught myself...its called experimenting.
1. this vid was made in 2007.
2. is there a set rule on how to shift?
3. if you're criticizing the way i did 1 shift...i could only imagine your shifting :/
That is very good, if you taught yourself how to drive. The ticking of the indicator sounds just like my dad's on his 325i. His was a 1991 model. He doesn't have the car any more.
I'm probably going back to an E30, after owning four before, I then had a few Mercedes then currently have an Alfa Romeo 164LS. Someone offered to trade a 92 E30 325i cab 5 speed for my Alfa, so I may take up the offer. ;)
ey man i love your ride. bmw e30 4 life. but im trying to buy one but the problem is i cant find a good one. or its too bad or its too good but auto. i hate that i want stick. but there is this bmw e30 i found the car is in a good shape the body. but the engine has a engine belt that is cut. but the owner is selling it for 500$ so i thought maybe i could get that and fix it up. how much do you think that will cost me. and what do you say. thank you.
@zepyoor1234 I remember those days. My first BMW was a 86 325e 5 speed. It had a salvage title 130k miles, but ran very well and already had BBS body kit. I traded my $400 mtn bike plus a couple hundred bucks. Soon after it needed lower control arms/ball joints, then I added a p-chip , cone filter, LSD from a 86 635Csi, interior from a 91 325i, white face plates, and a momo steering wheel. Put another 150k miles on it then sold it. Still running strong and a never changed the timing belt. ;)
wow i love that guy. its nice to know that all these cars aren't just stupid teenager's products of a cold air intake and fart can. those are meant for japanese cars only!
the different angles he uses with his grip on the shifter helps insure you shift into the right gear, in the right direction on the gearbox. Hes actually probably a pretty good driver
@elgatoliso yes thanks guy, i wanted to see a normal video of this car and you made it. The rest is only stupid drifts and burnouts, at least you respect your car and thank you for that!
@elgatoliso yes thanks guy, i wanted to see a normal video of this car and you made it. The rest is only stupid drifts and burnouts, at least you respect your car and thank you for that!
s52 is a great swap i have driven a couple cars with them. the thing i like about the m30 is first of all its period correct, the s52 and m52 are both obd2 motors making them more complicated and giving them less tuning potential from simple things (exhaust, intake, chip, etc). I STRONGLY recommend m30 over anything, ill have to put up some video soon so you can see. s52 is alot more expensive to do. If i could change what i did i would go with an m106. Have never seen this one done though.
90km/h? Second should top out at 50mph and third at 80 mph. Keep driving that car that hard as long as you want BECAUSE it's German. My 88 325iX has almost 400,000 miles and likes to be pushed hard.
