I don't care if Carla (Gabrielle Bennett) isn't a musician in real life, I really like her because she's really pretty and I like her singing. To this day I have a big crush on her.
@DevilMaster i think the perception of pop music wasnt so bad as now. We are post britney, christine augilera , lohan , women dancing around in their underwear and acting slutty in reality, era. And so when justine came along and got shoved down everyones throats he jsut triggered something in people. I'm not sure why though
@22centman36 I'll tell you why: back then, the Internet wasn't available to the public. The feeling of anonimity that the Internet provides (it's not *real* anonimity, but the feeling is there), together with the knowledge that everybody has an audience on the Internet, turns even the nicest person into a complete douchebag. So people sent death threats to Justin Bieber just because they could, and they did not send them to Bryan Scott just because they couldn't.
@es2903 The answer to your question is this, for what I knew is that Carla(Gabrielle Bennett) is not a real musician however she can sing and when I saw this clip I was shocked to me without her, there is no band Kidd Video.
it could be a backing track with live vocals. the music has the same dynamics as the show track, but you can hear at the end the drummer is still wacking on his drums after the music faded out, so Im guessing live vocal and drums, and a backing track, but thats cool. I love the Kidd!
YOU KNOW.......NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE I TALKED TO WHO GREW UP IN THE 80'S DONT REMEBER THIS BANDS CARTOON..........MAN I USE TO RECORD THIS AND WATCH IT TILL IT START TO BLURR........I COULDNT BELIEVE ROBBIE WAS IN THE BRADY'S AND DID YOU KNOW KIDD WAS IN A VIDEO DOCUMENTARY FOR JANET JACKSON.......THEY PUT A DIFFERENT LAST NAME BUT YOU WOULDNT EVEN RECOGNIZE HIM.........
@frankenstein2010 i know right? NOT ONE of my friends remembers this show or band. and i'm thinking ARE YOU NUTS??? this was a GREAT SHOW???? i THOUGHT that guy in the doc looked familiar. a little heavier but still same dude. i thought maybe brian scott was a stage name and mancini was his REAL name. but i could be wrong.
@ramennoodlechef ahahahahah!! My mistake ;) a famous musician of the past said:"in the end we are talking about the same chords", meaning that many songs may look alike and one's greatness is to create music with as more combinations as possible.
they could have had the girl play the drums in the live performance too because this is lip synced too its more than obvious when i hear horn sounds but no one is on stage playing them
Carla was not a REAL MUSICIAN .... she was an actress that played a part .... the rest were REAL MUSICIANS .... thats why they never focused on the drummer when they were live .... she just did the videos for tv ....
What I find adorable about the guy who plays Kidd is that, based on this video and the oens I've found of the old show, it's clear he only actually has two expressions. One that's completely blank, and the sneering, "tough" one. Like a kid playing at being a rockstar. he was too cute- it's a shame he wasn't a better actor- I wonder what he looks like now?
In the late 90s he was a little bit chubbier and he had beard'n older but pretty much the same. Its said that he works as a avoice actor and doing bad but he's not poor either.Even thouhg Gabrielle did vanished from the screen I've haven't got any info about her since like 96 it was said she played a nurse on a sitcom but nothing is confirmed.Steve Alterman and Robbie Rist are still working in music business and doing fine.I wishthem the bests of luck to all four of them wherever they are
I feel the same. Without Carla(Gabrielle), I am more focused on their "lip-suynching" of their instruments and vocals. But, still, no matter how cheesy people may think that instrument is, KEYBOARD GUITARS ROCK! May they never come back..but they ROCK!
Carla was an actress .... not a real musician .... the rest were musicians that were hired for a cartoon / she was a fill in when they couldn't find a female drummer and she looked good with the band ...
Kidd Video were pretty popular in Israel..they even tour there as a matter of fact. You can't even find their album, which was also released in Israel, too.
Don't you love 80s fashion? You could smell the mid 80s from this video, though. So cheesy, I love it. Really, I don't know what Diana would say at all...
ok, I poked around on youtube and there are clips from the actual show "Kidd Video", these are the same people. The only one missing from this clip is the hot latina "Cara". She wasn't a musician in real life but in the show she was the drummer for this ficticious band. She did really sing on the show so I'm wondering why they didn't just have her do vocals for these promo performances?
I swear I used to watch a cartoon back in the day called kidd video and they always featured one current pop video during the show. I remember the theme song to the show contained the lyric "From my radio to my video". Can anyone confirm this? Is this the same kidd video???
Kidd Video had some great tunes even for a mild MTV-kids like show. I have to admit I like Kidds(Bryan Scotts) voice a lot and Ive been trying to collect all the KV songs. I have most of them. I think that there was an innocence and great innovative time of the 80's music that I miss ANd yes androgeny was getting bigger too :) I still love it though. Love Kidd Video (Last thing I saw -*heard*- Bryan Scott was in was the movie DEAD PRESIDENTS in 1996)
Adrian Zmed looks very young here. I saw him not too long ago on VH1's I Love The 80s Strikes Back and the commercial about the dogs. Boy, he aged pretty now. He looked young in the 80s, though.
Gabrielle coulda faked it, I mean its not like they werent using a track. All the shows did it back then. Didnt Kidd Video tour intact overseas? How did they fake the drumming then?
I can't believe the actress that played Carla didn't really play drums. She did a good job of faking it on the show! Yeah they should've had her on there and they could've found a way of faking it for this performance.
Zmed is beast!

Actually, Bryan (Kidd) is still quite crush-worthy to my grown-up self.

Sorry bub. Not Lip synced....
1 The horns are all Synth.
The drums are rototoms digital drums.
And they didnt have the tech bsck then to produce the "live echo" lipsync effect that myley yrus and other fake use today...
Also.....you should probably learn about acoustics.
