Battle of the Heroes is a beautiful piece of music. Not only do I believe it is the greatest masterpiece of John Williams' carreer, but I think it is one of the most epic, awe-inspiring orchestral experiences period. I have seen this song conducted live, and I must say, it leaves you with a sense of pure awe and amazement. Bravo, John Williams, this is your best work.

this isn't the theme that plays during Anakin's and Obi-Wan's fight, although it sounds similar. Williams is known to foreshadow themes in his movie scores. Meaning, he will use parts of a major theme at the climax of the movie early on in the movie. So when you do hear the main theme, it's even more meaningful. It's a psychological tool that he does in many many films. The theme when Anakin and Obi-Wan fight is called Anakin vs Obi-Wan.

This choir only had to sing this song twice. And the song probably has key and time signature changes. There's no point in them rushing to memorize a piece; it's not like they're competing or anything.
Do you now? Perhaps you'll enlighten me and tell me the Key Signature, Time Signature and the notes in bar 55. I'll have you know, being a part of a choir myself, that the folders are more for show than to look off of. In my choir we use the folders for that reason. Also, if you look at the chorus people, they're looking at the conductor (John Williams) the whole time.

I still remember hearing this song for the first time in the theatre at a late-night showing of Episode III.
For the past thirty minutes or so it had been a detached boredom, and then this piece came on.
Immediately people jumped up and were alert at how engaging and monstrously EPIC this score is.

An Afternoon and they'd learn it lol You act like I'm insulting williams here... I'm not... I love him... its just strange that they ahve them fussing with the music so much. Go to any choir GOOD concert and they don't use music

its distracting them from the true essence of the music and the audience from it as well to be watching them flipping pages when honestly, they could, if need be, put everything tehy sand onto a single page. I'm just saying that as a performer, and not just an artist, you have to learn to do the things that LOOK good too. Yes they sound alright, but they could have upped it a notch for this because it is such a simple piece.

This choir only had to sing this song twice. And the song probably has key and time signature changes. There's no point in them rushing to memorize a piece; it's not like they're competing or anything.

oh it has constant time changes and lots of accidentals including I think a key change. but it modulates back I believe.

Do you now? Perhaps you'll enlighten me and tell me the Key Signature, Time Signature and the notes in bar 55. I'll have you know, being a part of a choir myself, that the folders are more for show than to look off of. In my choir we use the folders for that reason. Also, if you look at the chorus people, they're looking at the conductor (John Williams) the whole time.

Who is it you are adressing exactly? I'll agree with you John Williams is amazing, he's my idol, one of my inspirations when writing music and conducting. I do have to pick on my own band when I'm conducting, because they're not always right. (Please note, I'm only saying this if your comment was adressed to me, as recieved an email saying it was.)

Well, I don't know where you are so it's doubtful you'd know because it's a high school concert band. I'm only 18 mind you, but I can still conduct well. And I've got about 100 pieces of music to my name, of which I will not disclose.
